Jackie and the Beanstalk

We bought a beautiful home in North San Diego County but it was over thirty years old and we didn’t have good grasp on how we should approach the landscaping refurbishment so that it was on a par with the rest of the property. We were introduced to Jackie by a local gardening club. We agreed to a scope of work which included shrubs and trees for privacy and beauty, appropriate ground covers, replacement of an old citrus orchard and a redesign of the front driveway and adjacent planting beds. Jackie asked for our preferences on plants and colors, and when we didn’t have any, she gave us several good options. She guided our submission for approval through the local HOA and referred us to several great local subcontractors who addressed the actual plantings, irrigation, and hardscape. She personally picked out the plants at the nursery so we knew everything was healthy and consistent with the plan. She has done two installations for us in the past year and they look great. She is both creative and business like. I highly recommend Jackie for Land scape design.

This review is long overdue! Jackie designed the landscape of my front yard. I shared my vision with her and she delivered a beautiful design that was everything I wished for and more! We've received many compliments from our neighbors and are really happy with how it came out.

We loved working with Jackie! Her knowledge about plants, design skills, hardscape ideas and creativity resulted in front and back yard gardens that are perfect for us. Renovating areas that were neglected for many years (dead grass, watering and drainage system problems, poor use of space, etc.) was a huge project and we worked with Jackie from start to finish. She came up with amazing ideas to solve a variety of problems and her garden design plans helped us turn rough thoughts about what we generally wanted into something we could visualize before it was all built and planted. We were able to incorporate several entertainment areas, a veggie garden, fruit trees, and beautiful, pollinator-friendly plants, and greatly improve views from the garden. Jackie carefully considered how we wanted to use our spaces and was very receptive to our need for a hands-on approach. She worked closely with a fantastic landscape construction firm, picked plants that matched our color, design and maintenance needs, and was always helpful, responsive and reliable.

We are so happy with the backyard project, that Jackie helped us with. We wanted to put some njce plants which will look nice and refresh our backyard. We had zero knowledge and zero flora as well so had to start from the beginning. We went through customized process of selecting the flowers and plants and now our backyard is like a little cottage paradise. Thank you very much for your service! Very professional!

Jackie is an extremely knowledgable, hands-on designer, who knows her plants backwards and forwards. She can take your ideas from wishes to reality and recommend any ancillary people/businesses needed to complete the job, such as irrigation, installation, and water feature businesses. She can also give you insight into where to look for the best deals and inventory for your garden needs, such as pots, statuary and stonework. She has access to numerous wholesale nurseries in the county, to provide you with an enormous variety of plants, according to your wishes. She is gifted in terms of "seeing" what the plants will look like upon landscape completion, including size, shapes and colors which will make your design interesting and artistic. She is also a joy to work with, and I highly recommend Jackie and the Beanstalk to anyone looking for a seamless experience with getting the most out of the landscape design of your dreams!

Jackie was a dream to work with. You can tell she genuinely cares and she takes pride in delivering a high quality product. Before I met her my backyard was full of dying and brown vegetation due to prior problems with the sprinkler system and little maintenance. She listened carefully to my vision and what I wanted (including removing toxic plants and saving water), she made suggestions for improvements based on her extensive knowledge of local plants and landscape aesthetics, and she brought to life a thriving backyard that's delightful to spend time in. I'm usually under-impressed with the professionals I've had to work with, but Jackie goes above and beyond and I'd highly recommend her.

Every day when we enjoy our gorgeous garden, we can thank Jackie for her vision and creativity. It was a pleasure working with her to redesign and reimagine our space. Jackie's expertise and patience with us, first to revive soil that needed help, and later to find the best mix of plants, was much appreciated. We LOVE our new backyard! A gifted master creator, Jackie creates the garden that YOU wanted, but couldn’t design yourself! We are more than thrilled with Jackie's creativity and knowledge which magically transformed a blank canvas of dirt to a backyard that now welcomes you to flowers and pathways leading to several sitting areas of mixed materials. Putting my random thoughts and ideas together with Jackie's extensive knowledge of flowers and plants, one is now welcomed to a casually elegant garden with a definite California vibe . Friends and family open the doors and their jaws drop! The suggested construction crew was amazing. they worked every day for 2 weeks with a can-do attitude that included some pretty hard, gnarly work. Every plant in our new yard has its own water drip. The flowers and plants, only a couple of weeks old as I write this, are beginning to flourish in their brand new layers of good growing dirt. Jackie's vision and execution surpassed every one of my random ideas and she was willing to stay within a limited budget. Jackie was the Christmas gift that came early!

Jackie helped us design our yard and the results have been just amazing. She brought in a wealth of expertise on local plants and incorporated our preferences into the design quite seamlessly. Jackie was always available for consultation and was very responsive to requests. She also suggested a few contractors that we could use to install the garden, and we’ve been really pleased with the one we chose. Jackie gave us a great option for a custom veggie box that fits in nicely with our existing design. Our front yard has a great curb appeal now and we’ve had several folks stop by and comment on how unique and amazing it looks. Couldn’t be happier! Highly recommend Jackie for garden design!

Jackie was thoughtful, listened to our needs and concerns, and developed a few plans to accommodate our wishes. She then tweaked our favorite plan several times, and used her creative eye to enhance the job even further during installation. We used her recommended contractor (there were two actually, and we got bids from both) and had a smooth installation. Not that there weren’t glitches — but they involved our neighbors and our common fence, not her design within it. An overall positive experience, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome! Definitely recommend using a landscape designer like Jackie to bring your exterior dreams to life.
