Field Outdoor Spaces

Had a great experience with Field Outdoor Spaces. We had some budget changes along the way, and they worked with us really well. We love our new backyard!

We had Field build a large rain garden, brick patio, stacked stone raised beds, metal raised beds, a dry gulch, and a small bridge. The landscape designer came up with a great plan that respected our specific parameters while contributing significant creative ideas of her own. The landscapers executed the concept we were looking for with excellent aesthetic judgment in stone and rock work. The plantings were well chosen. We are satisfied in every respect with the work performed and also the customer service.

We hired Field to design and install a backyard project. It included two patios, multiple walkways and a custom stoop. They help us select materials that would go well with our 1880 historic home. Very happy with all aspects of the service.

Field Outdoor Spaces had landscaped a friend's yard a few years ago, and I was impressed by how it turned out and also liked the projects I saw on their website so I decided to get an estimate from them. I was so impressed with my first meeting with the designer that I didn't feel I needed to get any further estimates. I feel like she really listened to what I wanted and needed for the site and was willing to work with me to tweak the initial design to incorporate some plants that I really wanted in the space. My initial plan was to do just one small section of my front yard, but when I saw the design plan for the entire front yard (as we had discussed adding additional garden space over time), I decided I really needed more of that plan in my yard this year....so I went over my initial budget, and I couldn't be happier. The crew was also awesome to work with. They arrived with great attitudes and worked really hard, and they were friendly and accommodating when we made some minor adjustments on the fly. They also did a great job with clean up - my yard looked absolutely amazing when they left. I loved working with this company and am looking forward to when I can afford to get more work done on my yard!

We hired Field for an overhaul of our entire lot in St. Paul, to be completed in phases. Phase one is done and fabulous! Megan and Joe were easy to work with and solution-oriented. We are looking forward to the next phases with Field and recommend them to anyone who will listen!

My husband and I have worked with Field on two different houses. I love that they are able to customize their landscaping plans to accentuate the style of the house. Our first project with Field was a 1920's bungalow in St. Paul where they transformed our front yard into an inviting place to talk with neighbors. When we moved into our 1950's rambler, they changed it up and made our mid century home go from blah to AMAZING! We've had so many neighbors comment on how our house now looks like it cam from HGTV. The best part of working with Field is their team. Everyone is helpful and obviously passionate about what they do. I highly recommend Field Outdoor Spaces.

Field Outdoor was an amazing company to work with on our project. I was impressed with: 1) Cost - Final bill was nearly spot on with the estimate 2) Communication - We were kept informed on the project. They proactively called us on a "rain day" and let us know how it will impact the schedule. Even with multiple rain days, they were able to finish only a half day late. 3) Design - The design was great. We consistently receive compliments on it. 4) Work quality- Best thing to say about this- our neighbor who works at home told us he would watch the Field crew work as he was amazed at how hard and smart they worked. We have had no issues with their final product. 5) Little things - They cleaned up every day. They fixed any minor damage to the lawn from their equipment. They showed up on time. They were happy people to be around.

My husband met Jason at The Home and Garden Show. He was impressed with his work and how personable he was and we loved the pictures on Field Outdoor Spaces' website. Because we were slow to make our decision about committing to our project it became a slow process to proceed from initial meeting to full yard landscape plan to implementation of the first phase but it was worth it! We so appreciated Jason’s relaxed, laid-back style in combination with his detailed knowledge of plants and his artistic-creative sense of how best to make our landscape plan work- coordinating all the elements of our vision, together with his great ideas and input regarding what made sense in terms of plant types, sizes, care needs, etc. We also can’t say enough about every member of the crew that was working here to install our trees, mulch and boulders. Everyone was so pleasant, helpful and patient with answering our questions. They worked hard and paid attention to detail. It was really a pleasure to have them here. We can't wait to begin the next phase in the spring!

We hired Field for an almost complete redo of our backyard this spring. Jason had come up with a lovely design which reimagined our space. We now have a new round patio, curved sidewalk, vegetable and perennial beds, and fence. Everyone involved, both the Field crew and the subcontractors -- Harold Pietag & Sons Concrete, Kelly Green Irrigation, and Dakota Fence, were professional, hard working, and friendly. Field did a good job of incorporating many of our preexisting perennials (& pavers) into the design along with new perennials, shrubs and small trees. We now have a lovely new backyard to enjoy, and would definitely use Field again for future projects.

We actually came across Field Outdoor Spaces in an interesting way .... while working with our landscape architect to design our new backyard, we searched pictures on Houzz for ideas. Our favorite was a custom rock wall picture we shared with our architect just to show what we were looking for - unknowingly that wall was done by Field Outdoor Spaces which just happened to be a neighbor to our architect. Long story short, we hired Field and they partnered seamlessly to deliver a beautifully redone, private "phase 1" of our backyard that met both our budget and project goals. Beyond just delivering on plan, they worked with us to refine and improve it! They were also professional and followed the project plan / timing they laid out perfectly - very uncommon in our experiences. We definitely recommend them and we will be using them as we move on to other phases of our project.

Field Outdoor Spaces exceeded all expectations for landscaping completed this spring, as well as previous projects in 2008, 2009 & 2011. Thoroughly enjoyed the process: planning, install and end-results. The owner & crew were easy-going yet committed to detail, accommodating & respectful of impact to neighbors during the project. Highly recommend.

Last Fall, I decided to invest in a landscaping project. My yard was a disastrous collection of weeds and dog poop. I poked around and found some nice ratings (and nice photos of jobs) for Field Outdoor Spaces. Ann Davenport came over, looked at my space, tossed out a couple of ideas that I liked, so I asked her do a complete design. It was really creative and interesting for my small SLP yard so I decided to go ahead and was told I was scheduled for mid June. I needed a new fence, and they recommended Dakota Fence and that company was also great to work with. Field coordinated everything. The best thing was that in April they asked if they could start the project early and do the major earth moving and get the fence in. And rather than do the yard in two parts like I agreed, they just finished it. They are very nice to work with, efficient, clean, and again, they coordinated all the work; I was even out of the country for half the time. The entire project--front and back yard, new fence, patio and walkway---is finished, and was finished by the middle of May: a month before they were scheduled to start! And the yard is BEAUTIFUL. I am hoping that when the new plants grow up a little they will take pictures and post them. I am 100% thrilled!!!
