We were interested in designing an addition, but live in a historical home; as such, we wanted to work with a local architect with an understanding of the community. Joe listened to all of our needs, proposed wonderful ideas, and presented the plans professionally and succinctly to the historical commission. We recently had the pleasure of working with Joe on redesigning our small urban backyard. As the construction touches at its end, the place has been transformed in a beautifully designed oasis that perfectly meets our needs. Joe demonstrated incredible creativity and attention to detail throughout the entire process. He managed to seamlessly incorporate two much-needed parking spaces without sacrificing the charm of the garden. The new, larger deck is not only a stunning centerpiece but also incredibly functional, providing ample space for entertaining and relaxing. His follow up at each stage of construction was to be commended. He was on hand and available for problems that arose throughout the entire project and paid great attention to detail. Because of the many permitting and wetlands restrictions where I live, I wanted to hire a local architect with ties to the community. I was pleasantly surprised. Excellent service, when we first called Joe he was able to meet us 3 within 3 days. He was very professional but also relaxed. We are doing an addition to our home and not only was he able to incorporate what we wanted but also added some ideas we did not even think about, yet made our addition that much better. We ran into some issues with our city that had nothing to do with the addition and Joe was able to help us and direct us to right people. Joe has and continues to work very closely with our contractor and has gone above and beyond the job, while keeping things within our budget. We were looking to add a half-bath and decided to reached out to JFF Design based on stellar reviews. We paid for comprehensive initial consultation -- "will net for you sketches in hand that you can further discuss afterward" the day after the consultation. We met for the consultation, paid the fee and have not heard back from them since. Two weeks later, several unreturned phone calls and emails we have yet to see the sketches and had to cancel one meeting with the contractor already. How do they work on an actual project and get great reviews I can't imagine.

We hired JFF Design to help us renovate a 115 year old house and fix both structural and aesthetic design aspects of the house. Joe and his team were a huge asset to us throughout every stage of the process, helping us make sure the house not only turned out looking great, but also that the old framing was all properly reinforced and improving upon the structural integrity of the house. The project dragged on for a bit longer than all parties would have liked due to various issues, but Joe saw it through from start to finish. We honestly may not have ever gotten the design that we loved approved by the building department had it not been for Joe's nuanced understanding of the building code. We would definitely recommend JFF Design to anyone looking for an architect as they really know their stuff and are committed to seeing projects through to the end.

JFF design helped us to transform our small cape into the family home that we have dreamed about. Specifically, they came up with a plan on how we could stagger the construction on our 1800 sf house in 3 separate phases in order to end up with a house twice the original size, yet make it look like it was built all at once with a smooth uniform appearance. One big challenge was that we did not want to have to move out of the house while construction was going on and through careful planning it was possible. Everyone is really nice at JFF design and Joe Fournier - the lead Architect - has a wealth of expertise to lend not only in terms of the design but also in terms of the execution of it, having grown up doing things himself under his father who was a carpenter. Overall very good experience and we would recommend this company to anyone! We are currently trying to finish phase 3 and it has been 7 years of working with JFF.

I called Joe and he came out to my house to hear my design dilemma and started to save my halted project right away. Within less than a month Joe worked with me to design the addition of my dreams and delivered a full set of blue prints to my builder. JJF Design has been hired by us to build an addition of bedroom, bath, sitting room for two elderly adults on a limited budget. Although the project is not completed, all work done has been satisfactory. He has worked closely with all family members to be sure everyone's needs are met, even spending an afternoon helping us chose fixtures and flooring since we will be in Florida during construction. We are building to his well thought out design and look forward to the finish project.

I first met Joe (owner-JFF Design) at a Boston Home show where he was quickly and accurately sketching out a beautiful design idea for someone at his booth while explaining the intricate construction details and concepts behind his thoughts for the design. After discussing my project he again sketched out some unique ideas and explained his concepts to me clearly and with such detail and knowledge of the construction aspects of the design that I knew he would help me build something different that would mirror the stunning surroundings. He made it possible as there were many occasions when Joe was at the house instructing the carpenters on how their work. He has extensive construction knowledge which is key to designing something that a contractor can actually build. He was on time, within budget and continuously collaborated with me during the project. Choosing JFF Design was one of the best decisions I could have made in building my Tree house. When my wife and I finally decided to commit to our home addition project, we knew the task was going to be challenging. Our plan was to remodel our kitchen and to incorporate a two car garage addition onto our split level home. The biggest challenge of our project was that we wanted a design that would make the addition look integrated rather than just a box attached to the end of the house. After talking to a few different architects, it sounded like our concept was falling upon deaf ears. Everyone that came out was qualified to do the design, but their initial sketch ups fell short of meeting the design goals we had set out with. When Joe first met with us, we noticed that his approach was very different from other architects we had spoken with. Joe listened carefully to our design goals and worked with us to incorporate them into the plan. Joe is adept at seeing the bigger scope of the project and wasn’t afraid to suggest another option or take our suggestions and build upon them, all while listening to our feedback. The collaborative process we experienced with Joe resulted in a beautiful new design for our home that transformed our average split level house into an custom, open floor plan home. Joe was able to check off every item on our wish list and even snuck in some extras that were beyond what we thought could be done. We are still in the midst of the construction on our project, but Joe always makes himself available whenever a question comes up or clarifications are needed. Its been a great pleasure working with Joe and we would definitely recommend him to others!

We chose Joe to design our house on a plot of land overlooking a pond. We found the land and then I went through a pretty intense search for someone who could design our dream house. Our main goal was to build a turret and maximize the view. I researched over 50 local architects (which is easy to do on Houzz and other online searches), phone interviewed about 8 of them, interviewed 4 in person and brought 2 architects to the site. In the 8 minutes it took Joe to drive from our site to our meeting place, he had sketched out the most beautiful house I've ever seen! And over the next few months, we fleshed it out and we are in the building process now! Joe was great about listening to what we wanted and incorporating it into the design in ways we never would have thought of. He is amazingly creative, thinks outside of the box and works really nicely with us. I know it will turn out to be the house of our dreams! We couldn't be happier with our choice of architect, and we highly recommend Joe - especially if you want to build something unique and special.

Joe Fournier of JFF Design was the Architect and project manager of my home addition. We added a 2 car tandem garage, 2 bedrooms and a master bedroom suite above the garage, and above that a stand-up attic suite with multi levels and a full bath used as my daughter's apartment, accessed by a winding oak staircase. Joe's work was excellent. He worked very well with me incorporating my ideas and thoughts into the design. He was able to modify the front of my house, changing its appearance from a split level to a contemporary tudor...quite a remarkable job ! Everyone involved in the project was expert in their field, knowing just what to do and working well with Joe. He was very considerate of his workers and of me. Construction of this magnitude can be extremely disruptive to the homeowner. His patience and flexibility exceeded my expectations. My only criticism would be the length of time that the project took. But in all fairness this was partially due to changes I made during that time and to delays in shipping of various materials. Should I decide to do any more construction I would not hesitate to call JFF Design.

Joe Fournier did some great architectual design work on two large projects we did. A large remodel on one property and an almost complete rebuild on a second property. Joe acted as GC on the second job and did a wonderful job keeping things moving, helping us get good decisions made in a timely fashion and working closely with all the trades to ensure the work was coordinated and of high quality. The transformations to our properties were hugely successful and Joe was instrumental in helping us get to a place where the homes work so much better for our lifestyle. Highly recommend Joe's work (and already have several times).
