Our two-story single family house rebuild project started with Kyle, the architect who helped us kickstart our two years journey. He is a very dedicated architect who knows his trade and goes out of his way to be helpful in many other areas too (budget, construction etc). He is very familiar with residential projects in the bay area, which makes our communication very efficient. He listened to our requests carefully and came up with designs that satisfies our needs, at the same time, he also brought up innovative ideas that we couldn't think of, which make our final house much more ideal. The whole process with city's permit department is also very smooth because of Kyle's experience, we got our permit approved in a timely manner without any delays. He also recommended to us other engineers/contractors that are needed for our projects and all of them we hired are responsible and charged us reasonably. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kyle for future projects. A solid five star for Kyle!

Kyle far exceeded the expectations we first had when we decided to work with him on our new custom home. This was our first time going through this process and he was most patient with all our questions, explaining various architectural design considerations and how everything would work from the permitting to the inspections to selecting contractors. We really appreciate the advice he provided throughout as my wife (who is admittedly very picky) and I considered options for numerous details of our new home, both large and small. As a first time home remodeler, I can say that I couldn’t have found a better architect than Kyle Chan. Kyle is knowledgeable, understanding, responsive and detail oriented. He listened to our preferences and helped guide us to make the best decisions. Kyle understands the building permit process and made the experience extremely smooth for us. He also recommended a professional general contractor who did high quality work. I would definitely work with Kyle again if there's another opportunity.

Kyle is very nice, professional. He listen to what I care the most and he also give strong opinions, like the big picture windows and 6/12 roof pitch, even though when I doubt or disagree with him. Almost every time it turns out he is right eventually. I added 1000sf to the existing 1300sf. The optimized floor plan could not be more reasonable to me. Two big coffer ceilings of one foot deep makes the great room and living room so spacious and bright. I love his design.

We worked with Kyle for our house remodel. Kyle is a good listener, competent architect, communicates well, and is quite empathetic about the home owners (as something always happens that is unexpected). He listened to what our goals of remodel were, asked questions, and came back with a few proposals that we were able to iterate over. He is very good to communicate with, and that was one of our key factors in deciding who the architect should be. He communicated really well before the approval of the project and also as needed later. We appreciated that he was very empathetic and worked with us later during the construction phase as well when some unexpected things came up which were times of high stress for us. Kyle is the architect of our new house. We are very happy with his design. He is very detail oriented and very patience listening to our needs and provide his professional opinions. He was able to always find solutions to meet our needs and sometimes better options. We highly recomment him.

We began working with Kyle Chan in January 2017 to completely remodel our 3 bdrm 2 bath home that was built in 1960. We were looking for an open, light and airy feel, with a customized mid-century modern look. It was a small house and we wanted to make it feel bigger. Kyle came highly recommended to us. We had a few meetings at our home and Kyle got to work on several potential layouts for us to consider. In a short amount of time we started looking at the layouts, we ended up having Kyle create a hybrid of several elements from multiple layouts as the final design. A few key things Kyle was able to create for us was additional space by bumping out into the garage, an interior laundry room, a bay window in the master, a much larger master bath, and a large open kitchen with a beautiful island and skylight. In addition we wanted a complete re-wire and re-plumb or the house. Kyle worked with us and the builder throughout the 6 months of construction, obtaining permits, working with engineers while making several trips to the home. The project finished right on schedule. Kyle's budget projections were very accurate and well thought-out. We moved back in and to this day we are thrilled with the design, it's everything we wanted and more! We highly recommend Kyle Chan for his thoughtful and creative design process and immense talent. He knows building codes inside and out, and was an efficient, attentive and conscientious partner for our remodel.

Kyle Chan Architect has provided us an A1 service during our addition in the backyard last year. Kyle gave very honest and good advices during the service. Kyle gave us good recommendation and worked with contractor to help complete our project. Kyle also helped to get us the permit quickly so it spoeds up the construction early. If you ask me to recommend any good architect in Bay Area, I will definitely recommend Kyle Chan. In the future I will definitely consider working with Kyle again if there is future project.

Kyle was our architect for our in-law and living room expansion project. He was very easy to work with, patient, and had a great attitude. Four years ago, I hired Kyle for our house addition and renovation. Kyle was terrific to work with. He patiently listened to my requirements and transformed them into detailed drawing specifications. Kyle is familiar with city codes. When city gives comments back, Kyle would inform me, but he took care of it. My permit process went smoothly. Kyle Chan is one of the best professional architects to work in the bay area. Kyle designed our whole house architecture, We had no experience in custom home building and with Kyle our experience was so smooth and he guide us through out the design and construction phase. Our house stands out b/c of unique design and high celling's, Kyle is very well versed with the latest and greatest, even his knowledge about European and Mediterranean design is outstanding. We couldn’t be happier to have Kyle as our architect. What we appreciated him the most was that he always listened to us. We changed our design twice, and Kyle was very patient and worked around the clock to make it happen. He responded to our emails and concerns right away even though he was crazily busy with his other clients. Kyle did the architectural design for my whole house remodeling/addition 4 years ago. He was referred by my general contractor. After our first meeting, he proposed some design ideas which I liked a lot. We constantly met, he always listened and added my thoughts to the design with his professional opinions. And I found him super patient, as I kept asking for revision whenever I came out with an idea, he was always positive and made time to update the drawing. Kyle has great talent and great attitude. Sometimes you just can't find these good qualities in a person. It was my pleasure working with him, and I appreciated that he made my dream come true.

Kyle did a fantastic job! He turned our blah ranch into a modern marvel. The focus was on the outside and the interior living spaces, i.e. kitchen, living room, dining room... He created 3 different renditions for us and we ended up going with one of the original designs, no changes. We turned our galley kitchen into an open layout with a big island, open to the dining room, but kept the privacy to the living room. It's perfect for the way we live. Kyle really listened to what we wanted and how we use the space and was able to give appropriate solutions. He also stood by us through the permitting process and was always available for questions. We couldn't have done it without him.

I write this review from the gorgeous home office that Kyle designed for us. We have been delighted with his work. As a pair of work-from-home adults, the house Kyle created has a perfect blend of semi-connected work space for the adults, open family space where the parents and kids can mix easily, and private spaces. With most of the rear wall opening up to a covered back deck (with heat lamps and fans), and a nice back yard behind that, its a controllable blend of inside and out that makes for great family lunches and dinners. The exterior is super-cool; our kids' friends think it looks like a castle, and the design certainly does have a strong stone base, but with innovative curves and street appeal. We really thank Kyle for his work and encourage anyone else to consider him for your next project.

We hired Kyle for a complete rebuild project. He was able to capture our goals and offer various plans and ideas as a starting point. From there, it was an iterative process that he patiently worked with us until completion. The city review/permit process went without a hitch. However, we'd only wish our construction project went as smoothly. It didn't. The GC had swindled us. Even though Kyle had already fulfilled his professional obligations as an architect, he didn't abandoned us. Instead, he connected us ultimately to our final GC who completed our project. He also visited our job site from time to time, without us making any requests. Of course, he also tirelessly answered and helped us even on issues of aesthetics, on-site design decisions, and etc. This happened during the construction boom in our area when he was super busy. When you hire Kyle, you're not only getting a professional who will make your dream home come true, you're also also getting a caring individual who will be with you every step of the way. This combination is very rare and makes Kyle one of the short list candidates you should consider for your new project.

My project was 1000 sqft addition plus 500 sqft remodeling. Kyle made my project go as smoothly as I could have ever hoped for. It all started with Kyle’s focus on my ideas and his reasonable, pragmatic thinking. He asked the right questions, listened to my needs and goals and delivered a plan that accounted for every details. Not only was I getting a great architect but I also had an experienced adviser help me monitor construction progress, overall quality and deliverable. Kyle was patient, friendly, and willing to work through changes. He worked with us for 2 years planning and building a brand new house, and we are pleased with the results. He walked us through the planning process and was very helpful as well during the construction phase (even though that wasn't strictly his territory). We appreciated Kyle's professional demeanor and knowledge. Whenever we had an idea, he always found a way to incorporate it into the design. In addition, it was helpful that whenever we were faced with a decision, Kyle drew multiple solutions that we could choose from. Lastly, Kyle is very responsive to emails and phone calls- this might seem trivial but it really isn't when building a house/completing a project!

As someone who was remodeling a home for the first time, I could not have asked for a better experience by choosing to hire Kyle as my architect. His professional training at SCI-Arc and Cornell really speak to the wide range of styles that Kyle brings to the table. From the very beginning, Kyle was extremely professional and responsive to all of our ideas. He never directed us to one way, but listed to what we wanted-- a modern home design that was clean and minimalist in its lines and structure. I liked how he asked us to provide house images to get on the same page. Then, after taking our input, he went to work and always provided us with several exterior and interior options. We really appreciated his patience with us as we tried to figure out what types of exterior materials to use and other key decisions. Kyle would then provide us with further options and advice. When we finally came up with the final exterior and interior plans, Kyle was so helpful in working with the city planners and guided me through the application process. He always would tell me at different stages what to do next, and even offered options when I asked of whom to work with from green law consultants to cabinet makers to general contractors. My wife and I really appreciated all of his professional support and advice. Even during the actual remodeling process, Kyle was incredible in providing support for last second issues that needed his input and work. I cannot say enough about how responsive and communicative Kyle was by email and phone during the entire remodel process, and how he made it a lot more enjoyable than I could image. We just did addition of 800 sqt plus old kitchen remodel. We hired Kyle to design and guide us when we were rebuilding our dream home. We added about 1000 sq.ft and remodeled another 1600. Hiring Kyle was one of the best decisions we made! He was creative, patient and worked with all of our smallest of aspirations translating it into design.
