Lynn turned an unusable space into something beautiful. It is now used by both our family and neighborhood birds. Lynn put extraordinary effort into creating our garden despite its small size. She took it seriously from day one and as a result created something my wife and I couldn’t have imagined possible. She works with reliable and professional contractors and her communication is stellar. She and the contractors completed our job ahead of schedule. Follow up service has been exceptional and on top of that she’s just fun to work with. We couldn’t recommend Lynn more.

Lynn and Kira were great to work with. Not only did they design a beautiful plan, they connected us with a great landscape contractor and stayed involved throughout the project. Because we were budget conscious, Lynn helped us find savings in some of the features of the garden (planters, bench, fountain) and the plants by working with suppliers she uses. We had also asked her to adjust the design of our entry steps up to the house after seeing a design we liked in the neighborhood, and she was flexible about it and it turned out beautifully! All of the architectural features of the garden (paths, rocks, new wooden deck/porch) blend in very well with existing structures we had (patio, raised garden bed). The plants, trees and shrubs fit into the Japanese garden feel we wanted. A year later, people walking through the neighborhood still stop and share how much they love the front yard, and one person told us that it looks like it’s right out of a garden magazine!

The plant material and hardscape in our front, side, and back yards was dated and fatigued, so my wife and I decided to remove and replace everything. Our lot is relatively small, which meant that any new plan for the property would require the guidance of a professional with technical skill and conceptual agility. After asking around, we were fortunately introduced to Lynn and her company Wolfstone Landscape Design. Lynn worked closely with us in the design process (this included a water feature and fencing), during which we had extensive email, phone, Zoom, and onsite interactions. In addition, she was actively involved throughout the installation phase (we are thankful that Lynn arranged the services of an excellent landscaping contractor, Ross NW Watergardens). The result is a beautiful and inspiring Japanese-themed garden that stands as a living testament to Lynn's talents. We highly recommend Wolfstone Landscape Design because Lynn is experienced, knowledgeable, accessible, and responsive; moreover, and this is important, Lynn is a wonderful person who makes her clients feel genuinely valued. She will always have our gratitude and admiration.

Wolfstone Landscape Design created a detailed plan that produced the garden of our dreams. Lynn worked well with many sub-contractors at all levels to create a beautiful result: Stonework, water features, shrubs, perennials, terraces, patio furniture and even a living bridge. Lynn's knowledge of regional plants and material is exceptional: Color, size, season, rock, mulch, sun, shade, winter even the view from the kitchen was taken into consideration. We like how well she listens and communicates, provides options and ideas, is forward thinking and how she coordinated the aspects of a large scale complicated project. Our garden is gorgeous because of the talents of Lynn Wolfstone. We are incredibly pleased.

We hired Lynn to design our front yard and cannot say enough about how delighted we are with how it has turned out. We wanted something blooming all year long and she accomplished just that from beautiful flowering trees and plants to fragrant bushes we can enjoy the minute we step outside. What’s more is that Lynn has continued to provide guidance as our landscape has matured and is clearly invested in our overall experience and results. Not to mention that she is just a very kind person. We love what she did for our front yard (including some hardscape design) and constantly have people walking by taking pictures in admiration. Anyone would be so fortunate to partner with Lynn for their own landscape planning. We know that she will be our goto for all future projects.

An absolute pleasure to work with! Lynn carefully listened to my ideas, and then created something so much better! I wanted to remove the lawn and replace it with a minimal maintenance garden. Her design included plants that I have sweet memories of - beautiful hydrangeas, azaleas, rhododendrons, heather, irises, and trilliums! I was so surprised that she found trilliums for me! They invoke so many good times with the neighbor kids, walking through the shortcut to the Arboretum, where there were hundreds of trilliums. I can still hear my mother telling us not to pick them, as it takes them 7 years to rebloom. Not sure this is true.... Lynn's plans were beautifully drawn, included a listing of all plants, soft lighting to highlight the area, and she suggested a water feature. We selected a beautiful cream pot, and added a bubbler, so that when one walks to the front door, there are soothing water sounds. I could not be happier with our plan, and highly suggest Wolfstone Landscape Design for any of your outdoor landscaping projects! You will not be disappointed.... And PS, she made the cover of BH&G a couple of years ago!

I just completed my landscape design and install with Lynn and the Wolfstone Landscape Design Team and what an amazing experience and outcome!!! From the first time I met the team I knew that I was in the best hands. I am a busy professional single mom that had a big backyard to re-design, install and get set up for maintenance. This team did it all. - First: consultation was all about my vision. - Second: vision board , make it easy use Pinterest. - Third: review plans - 2 options. Was blown away - so hard to choose - they nailed my vision. - Fourth: Budget and plant choices and dates and all the details. - Fifth: Once approved Lynne and team took care of it all. The coordination, the inspection, the care on how it got installed, follow up visits, calls to ensure I was happy. - Now: I am enjoying all of the beautiful spaces that was created and will be spending all summer in the garden. All of this would not have happened without Lynn and her team.

Lynn Wolfestone is one of the most capable landscape designers i have worked with. she is creative, knowledgable, intelligent beyond words and very fun to work with. she has the best contacts in the business. we have just completed both front and back yards and i must say i pinch myself in glee while strolling the pathways. japanese gardens are her forte... rockery, perennials, form and function... she has it all. i would submit a picture but not that tech savvy. don't hesitate a second in choosing this talented woman

We could not have asked for a better experience with Lynn at Wolfstone Landscape Design. We had a unique project at our home in Portland where we could only use native plants. Lynn was extremely hands on and worked through every detail with us and the City to get our plans approved and see the project through to completion. She listen to our interests while also addressing the limitations we had to work within and provided wonderful options for our property. I am certain our project would not have gone nearly as smoothly or turned out as beautiful without Wolfstone Landscape Design. Thank you!

My intent in writing this review is to give the perspective from my experience. I am going to try and be thoughtful in an effort to hopefully help guide someone's decision and be informed. The reason I choose her was because of her good reviews however the qualities that ultimately ended being important she did not possess. My initial plan was to do the entire yard but thankfully I listened to my instinct and started with a smaller project to see how that turned out. Our first meeting was in December of 2020 and six months later we have thankfully and finally parted ways. The scaled-down project was 3 front planter boxes and a small perimeter as well as covering up a neighbors window that was not visually inviting. The project again was VERY small and I received the first drafts 4 months later. I was very surprised to see that the first draft included a lot of items I had cut out and was vocal about cutting out because I was not interested in being billed for something that we agreed we did not want to design. It was also honestly frustrating that the one major concern the window being covered was not addressed in the draft. Basically what I am saying is they did not take the direction that was given and although I was assured they were not billing me for this I am sure it was since the final bill was the same as the quote. Secondly, when I received the draft frankly the plant selection was not esthetically pleasing which is when I realized their taste level is not there. That is when I started sending references. I am a trained designer so I understand from that perspective that our job is to interpret someone's vision. For whatever reason, this was very difficult to do for Wolfstone landscaping. Not only was this difficult but Lynn Wolfstone's emails became incredibly condescending. I had already signed a contract so truthfully I just wanted this finished and I kept scaling the plant selection down and wanting something simple because their taste level is not there. Yes, she seems knowledgeable about horticulture but if you're looking for someone with a more forward-thinking approach this landscape designer is not for you. To sum things up her condescending manner and traditional approach were not the right fit and that's why I would not recommend this person.

Lynn was a perfect match for my needs. I wanted a design that provided the structure for my garden, but allowed me to add in as I desired. Lynn provided a beautiful structure and then helped me pick the right plants to fill in the landscape. We had some existing large boulders that we incorporated nicely in the front yard, providing, with some key trees, the Asian feel I desired. Lynn has a keen attention to detail that helps make a project a success.

Lynn Wolfstone was a delight to work with in every way; she is professional, works well with others and has an eye to create anything you desire. She is very detail oriented and has a breadth of knowledge about plants, especially those best suited for the NW. She also knows how to use color and create a garden that is in constant bloom...meaning when early spring flowers die, late spring flowers erupt in front to create beauty and cover the dying ones. I don't know much about plants but I was able to specify the look I wished to achieve and she designed a yard that became an "oasis" from early spring to late fall. Our landscape project was complicated and she handled every detail with ease. I highly recommend Lynn and Wolfstone Landscape Design.
