We had a great experience working with Marina on our main bathroom renovation. She is very tasteful in her plans and ideas and is super detailed oriented. We loved her ideas right down to paint colours. She is attentive and very helpful in decision making. Later she helped us with paint colours for our upper and main floor update. I continue to use her for input on all kinds of design questions. On top of all this, the fact that she creates full CAD drawings of the project is a real selling point. Five star all around! She will be designing our future second property! Marina is an excellent listener yet has a way of maintaining the design integrity, while incorporating client's views. Marina always maintains design principles, and although our house is small, the finished design is spacious and has good flow. She knows where to splurge and where to economize design elements. Marina is one of the most organized individuals I've ever met and never misses a beat. Our contractor said that she is the most organized designer he has ever worked with in his career. Her communication skills are top notch, and she is very responsive, helping stickhandle problems as they arise. Most of our interactions were online, although we had two site visits during the process. Working virtually was seamless. When we had a significant issue with one of the suppliers, Marina was quick to step in and effortlessly get us out of the contract, allowing us to move forward with a new supplier. She managed to bring charm, and a modern touch to a 90 year old house without loosing its character. The design cost was very fair and Marina stayed within the scope and budget. What a lovely person and great designer with a promising future ahead of her. We look forward to working with her again.

Marina was present and collaborative throughout my project from concept to completion. There were regular meetings to present ideas and make decisions. She worked closely with the general contractor throughout. And she went above and beyond with vendors to ensure amazing finishes in a time when suppliers are low on inventory. The project involved taking the condo down to the studs and rebuilding it to modern specs. Beautiful job!

Marina was referred to me by a renowned Ottawa Custom home builder (Sanchez Homes Inc.). I had been affected by the tornado and there were so many repairs to be done to my house that was originally build in 2011. Not only there was water damaged but there were crack in the floors and my house was outdated and it did not reflect my taste and who I was. I had never worked with a designer before. It was a process, but Marina was the perfect designer to lead me through the process. Marina was attentive to my needs, to my fears and to my taste. Never did she impose any of her choices to me. She created a concept document that reflected my tastes after weekly design discussions. She was also a great intermediary between myself, the client, and the general contractor; I really felt that I was in good hands from start to finish with her. My project was extensive, and I fell so in good hands with Marina that I renovated all 3 floors of my house (4 bathrooms, kitchen, flooring, family room, study, etc.). She ensured that the design flowed from one floor to the next. The end results was EXACTLY what I was expecting. She is a great communicator, and she has strong work ethics. I highly recommend you Marina, you will not regret it!

When we decided it was time to renovate our home to make it more functional and me reflective us our family, we knew we needed the help of a designer to shepherd us through this this undertaking. We had a vision, but the project involved multiple rooms, including the kitchen, main floor laundry and power room, master bedroom and bathroom, and we were getting lost in the ocean of product choices and design concepts! Marina of Marina Medina Design came recommended by a neighbour who had used her services to design the kitchen in their new-build home in Ottawa. However, Marina is BC based. We were at first concerned that the distance would make our work relationship a challenge. Our neighbour assured us that his experience was anything but, and recommended we speak meet with her. Right from the first meeting I knew Maria was the right designer for our project. She was knowledge, professional, personable, and understood our vision and concept plans. Despite the distance, we hired Marina to design our home, and we could not have picked a better choice! She communicated with us regularly through Zoom calls, responded to enquires quickly, expeditiously made required changes to design plans and came for a site visit. Her designs were inspiring and everything we wanted to make our home look spectacular. Our home has been transformed into a modern, welcoming space that fits our family life. Our experience working with Marina has been extremely positive and we highly recommend her design services.

I collaborate with Marina on projects in my general contracting business day-to-day and we are always impressed with the thought and care she puts into ther designs and of course the finished product. Marina came highly recommended to us and we have come to appreciate why. She worked with us to design millwork for a custom modern waterfront home - a whole house worth of cabinetry, built ins, closets and storage. I must have been one of the most difficult clients for her, as I had very high and exacting expectations of both form and function and was not willing to compromise on either. I have pushed her outside of designer’s comfort zone of being in the driver’s seat. She has adopted incredibly well, embracing my half-baked ideas snd making them her own while skilfully, intelligently and artistically adding her own touches. She anticipated kinks and problems and came up with solutions. Our architect was impressed with quality and detail of her design drawings and has conceded that she considerably improved upon his work. Our build is a work in progress but as we encounter any issues or questions, she has made herself available despite time zone and geographic distance. Come to think of it, it never felt we were working with her virtually, it felt like she was by our side every step of the way. She was always prepared, patient and engaged. Turnaround times for the many updates we required were impressive. Communication was clear, timely and professional. Great attention to detail. Very thoughtful. I also tremendously appreciated her backbone and honesty- she was comfortable challenging an idea or feature I didn’t quite think through without ever being condescending or overbearing. She took an incredible amount of stress and angst out of this experience. We are thrilled to watch her work form and come together in front of our eyes and can’t wait to start enjoying life in a beautifully and thoughtfully designed home. Can’t recommend her enough!
