Kelvin completed our home ahead of schedule, finishing the entire build in an impressive seven months, and did so within budget—an increasingly rare achievement in today’s construction environment. To put this into perspective, when we broke ground in May, we discovered the property had no existing water, sewer, or electrical services. Despite these significant and unexpected challenges, Kelvin navigated the complexities, coordinated solutions, and still had us all moved in for Christmas morning. We were lucky enough to see Matisse's work before we selected them as our builder because good friends had built their beautiful home with Matisse, which made our decision to choose them as our builder easy, but our new home(s) far exceed even our expectations! We knocked down our century+-year-old bungalow in the midst of supply chain issues during Calgary's notorious winter and built a new duplex on the lot. The floor plans were the same but we chose different finishings on both sides, essentially building 2 individual homes. Both have turned out exceptional - the workmanship is flawless and well-thought out, and there are all these additional little custom touches that we didn't expect but make our lives much easier - and easier on the eyes! On top of the wonderful quality of the build, Kelvin and all the contractors and tradespeople that worked on our houses were quintessential professionals. They dealt with a LOT of challenges from unreasonable neighbours, various supply chain challenges, and some major last-minute changes that we threw at them. Through it all, Kelvin was positive, supportive, always responsive and a true pleasure to deal with. It was extremely apparent throughout our build that he had built up strong trust relationships with excellent trades, and we can truly see and feel the rewards of that in our home. We couldn't recommend Matisse Homes enough and believe anyone would be in great hands with Kelvin and his team.

We have almost completed our build with Matisse homes but are all moved in and enjoying our wonderful home. We have never been involved in anything of this magnitude but have done many minor renovations. We began with the inevitable choosing of builders and after choosing Matisse, it became very clear that we had chosen the right contractor the day our windows were installed. We stood in the middle of our street with some other neighbors and Kelvin, who was as excited as we were, to watch the installation. He was always engaged, communicated continually with updates, listened and even implemented some of our ideas. He even made room for us to do some sweat equity. He met with neighbors at the beginning to open communication and wanted a clean work site and always kept the neighbors in mind. The amount of trades that were involved were mind boggling and Kelvin had a great relationship with each and everyone of them. We were impressed and could not say enough good about each of them. Kelvin was on site daily and his passion for his job was apparent during all phases of this build. We would highly recommend Matisse homes (we have already been asked for our builders name). We have a truly unique and wonderful new home and have built a lifelong relationship with Kelvin, we will miss seeing him so often, and he has a new finishing crew! (albeit a very slow one ;)

My husband and I just completed our first ever home build, and we honestly couldn’t be happier with the end result. Kelvin came to us by way of a reference from a family friend, and what a fateful day that was! This was our first time building a house and we couldn't have asked for a better experience and end result. Kelvins attention to detail showed numerous times throughout the build process, making sure the finish quality is up to his standards and always keeping us in the loop on what was going on. When you have Kelvin, the owner, on site every day making sure the project stays on track is a massive benefit to a client. Kelvin is also fantastic as sending updated photos during the day to give you a sneak peek on what is going on at the house that day. Kelvins trades are incredible. It wasn't very often we would swing by the house after work and somebody wouldn't be still working late to get the job done. Its the extra mile that have seen go in from Kelvin and all of his trades that really shows when you see the final product. Lauren and I couldn't be happier with the final product, and we couldn't imagine having a better build experience with anybody else. We would recommend anybody building a new home to build with Kelvin and Matisse Homes. One day I am sure we will build another home and when that day comes we will be building with Kelvin again.

Beyond these things, what stood out to us was Kelvin's focus on developing and maintaining relationships with his industry partners. This has resulted in trades that want to work with Matisse Homes - something that is often not seen in this industry. Kelvin is honest and straightforward with the trades, maintaining accountability with clear expectations but also providing support to them where needed. For Kelvin, mutual respect is an integral part of how he does business. We also brought our own architect and interior designer to the project, and Kelvin was excellent at maintaining clear and positive communication as the design unfolded. The Matisse approach lead to our neighbours commenting on how positive our home building process was for them! They had never seen such positive and respectful onsite crews. The crews kept the work site clean and respected the property around them. Often it was Kelvin himself onsite at the end of the day, cleaning up walkways and ensuring site cleanliness. We wouldn't hesitate to build another home with Kelvin and Matisse Homes, other than the fact we're not planning on ever moving! We would whole-heartedly recommend Matisse Homes to others considering a custom home build project.
