Robert L. Tobin Architect has over 40 years of knowledge and expertise to assist you with all of your residential, commercial and corporate architectural needs. We specialize in all aspects of the design and construction process, for additions, remodels and new construction. Our background in functional design and construction management is an added benefit to the success of your project. We look forward to building a personal relationship with you in the process of making your vision into a reality. Our services can include all phases of the project from site selection, zoning, conceptual design, budget, construction documentation, bidding and construction observation for a any project from a single family addition thru a Fortune 500 Corporate HQ. Our clients have been our next door neighbors and Fortune 100 clients nationwide. Robert Tobin the owner of the architectural firm has made it is his lifelong ambition to understand every aspect of the built environment and has included green design concepts for the past 45 years. Starting his career as an apprentice in high school and continuing his education at Drexel University Evening College, he quickly realized his strong passion for the world of architecture and decided to follow this calling. If I could rate him 0 stars I would. I highly don't recommend him . The contractors we interviewed for our renovation all agreed individually the plans were of no use to them, inaccurate and an incomplete set of plans. We lost a lot of money and had to start all over again. He is overpriced and unprofessional - his measurements and layout of plans provided were incorrect and completely lacked basic details. He did not fulfill the work and deliverables committed he outlined in the signed contract. When I discussed the contractor's feedback and all my disappoints with him he argued, was unprofessional and abruptly hung up on me.

This client was referred to me by a contractor they had contacted. I was the third architect they had hired on the project, per the contractor whom I had completed many projects with. I completed my Construction Documents with many reviews by them, for their many modifications. They hired a new contractor who did not submit the drawings to the town for permit. I stand by my work and I indicated I would correct any deficiencies the town had noted but they only asked for their money back.
In a heated discussion with the client they indicated the current contractor would have done the drawings for free which is why in my opinion they wanted my fee returned to them. They could never produce a document review from the town indicating any deficiencies for me to correct so I hung up when her only solution was a return of my fee for work completed under our contract.
This has been the only negative complaint of my work in 56 years in the profession.

Bob designed a beautiful house for us and we absolutely love it! He listened and incorporated all the requested design elements we were looking for and he did extra work to ensure we would meet/exceed all the new flood requirements. He was especially helpful in dealing with the town building and planning & zoning departments and in helping to get all the required permits. He was very professional, responsive, reasonably priced and a pleasure to work with and I would Highly HIGHLY recommend him.

I met Bob a few years back when my wife and I were planning on building our dream home (a reproduction antique colonial). Bob worked with us on designing a home for us that fit our requirements. When things fell through with the lot we were forced to buy an older home. Bob was very understanding with this. This April we had the opportunity to buy a lot and build that dream home. I contacted Bob and he picked things up right where they left off. He made some minor changes to fit the new codes and the build was off. Then 4 months later we had our dream home. Bob was available any time I needed him. And working with a small local business his phone was always on. He was always willing to make any changes we wanted and there were a lot during the build. His quote was right on and there were no hidden fees or unexpected costs.

Bob Tobin is a professional who is easy to work with and listens to his clients. We had a large addition designed by him and we were thrilled every step of the way. He probed into our desires for the addition and was able to get it all done as we requested. Our home is on a lake and he fully understood and designed to capture that important element. We enjoyed the experience so much that he is currently working on another project with us.
