Today will be our final walk-through with Stu Hunter. We began our remodel project almost a year ago, but the work took only five months, as Stu had projected. Stu came highly recommended to us, but we weren’t prepared for the level of service he provided. He told us at the outset that this would be a pleasant experience for us. Hearing this, we both rolled our eyes and recalled all the horror stories we had heard from friends and family. Thinking that Stu’s comment to us was a novel, but effective, sales approach we decided to hire him and we never regretted it. Stu is a man of wisdom, integrity and superb skill. He calmly walked us through each phase of the project, answering our questions, providing valuable information, and meeting each challenge with a calm demeanor which only comes from having spent years in the industry successfully solving unique problems. Hunter Construction (HCI) was the general contractor for us on a remodel of our home in Mission Viejo that primarily focused on the kitchen, family room and master bathroom, but also grew to cover several other portions of the house. We've had Hunter Construction do prior renovations and as always the quality of the work and crew is superb. The project is complex and encompasses a large percentage our our downstairs area. I highly recommend Stu Hunter Construction. Over the summer, during the pandemic I had to get some work done on my house and was reluctant to have people in my house. Stu was so concerned that I was comfortable and made sure he wore and mask and kept his distance. I decided to start my outside projects and needed some exterior stair repair that also involved some structural issues as well as replacement of rotted wood on my three balconies. He brought in some well trusted guys that did amazing work. They were very clean during the whole process, maintained a nice job site and made sure to clean up at the end of each day of work. Stu regularly checked in and reviewed their work. I was also setting up my zoom classroom and needed some blinds and a whiteboard put up. Stu saw all my supplies and offered to help me out! What a nice guy! His attention to detail and kindness is what makes me know I will bring his team back for my next project-the bathroom and kitchen! For now I must wait because I am teaching out of the house and indoor work would be too loud but Hunter Construction is who I will call and I look forward to working with Stu. I am a commercial construction professional, having built SoFi Stadium, Staples Center, Honda Center, Hollywood & Highland, the Dolby Theatre and LA Live. Working with residential contractors we met scared us to death! With great trepidation, we decided to remodel our home. We blew out the back of the house, expanded the family room, installed new windows & sliding glass doors, integrated new flooring with the existing (that matches PERFECTLY) and expanded our kitchen; all with structural engineering and building permits. We are grateful to Stu Hunter for taking over our kitchen remodel after an unsuccessful situation with another contractor. Upon our initial meeting, Stu was able to provide us with ideas to get us in the right direction. He gave us a plan that was easy to conceptualize and a budget and timeline we were pleased with. Hunter Construction was the contractor for my client's large scale home remodel. As the interior designer for the project I had the opportunity to work with the owner, Stu Hunter, but also with many of his sub contractors. Stu was professional and easy to work with and well as very knowledgeable about the many facets of work involved in this project. Pretty much anything you can think of we did to this house! New doors, windows, electrical, plumbing, tile and stone work-the list goes on and on. Stu was able to address all the needs of the project and perhaps most importantly, often had creative problem solving input so valuable on a project of this scale. Choosing Hunter Construction was the best idea my husband and I made all year! Stuart was very professional throughout the entire project. He answered thousands of questions and helped us make critical decisions. He was very patient and kind to my kids who were all over the house and attempting to have a fun summer while being uprooted from their bedrooms. Once again Hunter Construction has done a fantastic job. Painting your house sounds simple, until you realize that you have a lot of dry rot including decorative elements, eaves and a large gate. Also, our house had not been painted for at least 20 years. So there was quite a lot of cleanup/prep work to do. Large areas of the stucco needed to be repaired. Carpenters were brought in before the painters to reconstruct our decorative items, trim around the windows and replace the eaves on the house where there was dry rot. They also constructed a brand new gate on the side of the house. They did a fantastic job. Stewart Hunter never fails to bring in great workers. They are courteous, hard working and skilled. At the end of every day, all of their equipment was nicely organized in the yard and out of the way. The project is managed so well that we didn't have to worry about anything. All questions and issues were handled with a single point of contact and were handled promptly and professionally. My wife and I have used Hunter Construction in the past and their work never ceases to amaze and please us and that's why when we do our kitchen remodel, there will be only one company on our list. Thanks to Stewart and all the works for, once again, making our house beautiful.

Hunter Construction scheduled the remodel of my 3-level condo in two phases, which allowed me to stay in the house during the remodel. Phase 1 (downstairs) was completed in about 4 months, finishing in December 2017. Phase 2 (main floor and upstairs) began in January 2018 and was completed in October 2018. Project scheduling worked well and the work quality was superior. Stu Hunter was easy to work with, and he personally coordinated the work - it was good to have advance notice of the upcoming steps. My remodel project turned out great and I'd recommend Hunter Construction.

We engaged Stu Hunter to manage our master bath and closet remodel this past September. Stu impressed us with his experience, knowledge and his commitment to a quality end result which was in line with the high recommendations we received from people we trust who know him and his work. The inspector for the city even stopped by on his way out to tell us how lucky we were to have such a good contractor. (He should know, he sees them all.) Stu brought in sub-contractors that truly were craftsmen. They treated our home with care and respect and their work was stellar. The people he surrounds himself with live up to his high standards. Stu was on point in monitoring our project. He was constantly onsite to ensure the quality of the work and that we were moving forward to meet our completion timeframe, i.e. finish before the holidays. He also was very sensitive to our quality of life during the project and did all he could to speed up our return so we could sleep in our own bed. Stu was extremely responsive in addressing anything that was of concern to us via email, text and phone. No detail was too small to address. We had some minor challenges due to materials that Stu worked through to a very satisfactory result. We were fully confident and comfortable in any recommendations or revisions that Stu put forth during this project since he had earned our confidence based on great communication and his expertise. The result was a great living space that we cannot believe is ours. We are looking forward to working with him again in the future on an even larger project, our kitchen remodel. If you want someone who is honest, knowledgeable and a great manager with great people who will treat your home with loving care then we cannot recommend anyone more highly than we do Stu.

We hired Hunter Construction to tear down and rebuild our outdoor patio leading off of our master bedroom and to remodel our family room. We set a budget for the entire project. His design and ability to keep within that budget were impressive. He works with some of the most skilled and clean subtractors I have experienced in being a part of many home remodels. Our Recently Completed Second Project with Hunter Construction, Inc.... Five Stars rating doesn't quite fit the bill for Hunter Construction. Superb general contractors with undeniable great qualities and solid industry knowledge are (very) few and far between; Stu Hunter is one of the few. Design/Build clients expect integrity, attention to detail, broad range of expertise with practical knowledge, a problem-solver, the work ethic to keep the job in steady progress, ...all while staying within budget and with on-time completion. He is, literally, always quick to respond to questions and concerns. Stu has a calming presence along with a great sense of humor during those inevitable stressful times for the client. He is focused and dead serious about doing a superior job and goes above and beyond the norm. Another vital requirement is the quality of the sub-contractors. You can have the best contractor but without solid, dependable, and qualified subs the project would not meet up to a client's high standards. Many of Stu Hunter's subs have been on his projects repeatedly because, as they have told us (unsolicited), he is fair and wonderful to work for. We just completed our second remodel with Hunter Construction and, just as the first go around, we are exceeding pleased with the finished project. Without reservation, we are eager to give him a glowing review. Our First Project with Hunter Construction, Inc..... For several years, we had considered creating an open floor plan incorporating the kitchen, formal dining, and family room. We received several bids and project ideas but never felt comfortable with the companies or the design. It was a major expense and we were timid about taking the plunge.......that is, until we met Stu Hunter. He came highly recommended by a credible resource so that alleviated a lot of anxiety. From the get-go, Stu impressed us with his knowledge base, attentiveness, professionalism, and honesty......YES honesty. From initial design plan through start of the job, we had many plan changes and questions, etc. and he was always patient and thorough in his explanations. He showed up at the job nearly every day. My phone calls/emails were always replied to without delay. The construction/remodel industry is rampant with flaky, dishonest contractors, not to mention the sub-contractors that work for him. The sub-contractors are companies and individuals who he uses repeatedly and what shocked us was the subs (unsolicited) admiration and respect for Stu. All of them said 'You and your husband have hired a top quality general contractor and that's why we enjoy working for him'. What especially astonished us was that the entire project was completed within the expected timeframe with no costly or major setbacks. We ended up expanding the original project and have never looked back! We can't be more appreciative and happy with the outcome of our gorgeous remodel. We will look no further than Stu's company for any future projects. I am always a sceptic when I hear accolades about someone in a service oriented industry, but this review is with complete honesty and admiration for the man and his company. This project included new wood floors, crown and base moulding, windows & casing, doors, paint, lighting & electrical work, acoustic ceiling removal, abatement, and plans & permits. Stu and Hunter Construction did a great job with a fairly tight time frame and fought for us to expedite the abatement process when that came up. He was on site often and helped communicate well with us and the rest of the crew. They did a good job of working with us still living in the house during construction, but there were definitely times when we had to clean up a bit upon returning home. They were all very respectful of our need to keep the two cats contained in the garage or other parts of the house during the day, and were careful to make sure they never got out. We met with several contractors before starting the project, and Stu was the only one who took real time to assess our scope and provide a thorough estimate. He was easy to work with on change orders and other small adjustments, and he did a great job taking care of the little details as well as the big ones. He was easy to talk to about things going well, things that needed improvement, and non-job related items. At the end of the project they even sent a present for our new baby girl (the reason why we had a fairly tight deadline on completion of the project.) I would definitely recommend Stu and Hunter Construction.

We used Stu Hunter for a large-scale kitchen remodel, which included knocking down numerous walls and completely restructuring our space. We also used him for a more minor project--a face lift on our guest bedrooms. He executed both projects with professionalism, ethics, great communication, and expertise. Stu listened to our concerns throughout the project, did his best to solve any issues that arose in a cost-efficient manner, and finished the project on time and (mostly) within budget. Hunter Construction did a fabulous job on our master bath remodel! Right from the beginning when I, not my husband, met Stu for the first time he listened to what we wanted and the budget we had in mind. He followed through with an appointment with his interior designer to sketch ideas and offer amazing materials that we otherwise would not have considered. Stu worked with us from there to make adjustments to keep the budget and schedule on track. (And I admit to making a couple product changes during construction.) Well, we did go over our budget, but through no fault of Stu's. We had unexpected issues. Stu did tell us to budget for that. There is always something that comes up! Stu is a wonderful contractor and was very easy to work with. He employed a designer (Marisa Miller, fabulous in her own right!) to help us with the design and picking cabinets, accessories, colour, flooring, etc. Our remodel consisted of a new kitchen, two bathrooms, office, family room and hardwood flooring throughout the whole house (minus three upstairs bedrooms). We also replaced all the windows, slider door, front, garage, and interior doors. Also, plantation shutters were installed throughout. I have the utmost respect for Stu Hunter. He is a wonderful person and a fabulous contractor. Everyone should hire him!

We are picky, but things that would have passed our muster weren't acceptable to Stu and he ensured that they were done to meet his standards. He had a great relationship with all of the tradespeople he managed and unfailingly they did wonderful work, were thoughtful and ON TIME. When you have a lot of work done there is the inevitable glitch, but Stu was on top of the situation and remedied it quickly. Our work encompassed 1) one complete bathroom redo (down to the studs), 2) major work in the kitchen (half of the cabinets, new sink, appliances, garden window, granite counter modification), 3) flooring (tile in three rooms, re-carpeting everywhere else), significant woodworking (main staircase, baseboards), 4) various accompanying electrical upgrades and 5) exterior painting and stucco. Our bottom line: Stu is prompt, personable, reasonably priced and honest. We couldn't be happier with our experience and have already recommended him to several friends.

Hunter Construction remodeled both of our upstairs bathrooms. I shared pictures of bathrooms I liked with Stu and he designed our new bathrooms using the ideas I gave him. Everything was done exactly as we desired. His company was professional and completed the projects in a timely manner. We also had him remove the popcorn ceiling left in the upstairs, change hallway light fixtures, add crown moulding to our bedroom, paint bedroom, change kitchen lights from fluorescent to LED, along with a few other projects besides with our bathrooms. We are so happy with his work and our family feels like we are staying in a fancy hotel when we use the new bathrooms. Thanks Hunter Construction for a job well done!!
