The work of Hugh Jacobsen is greatly admired and Mr Jacobsen is one of the country's leading architects. I am familiar with Jacobsens work through the Millett Residence which I visited often and mr jacobsen designed in 1967 for the parents of a close friend. As in all of Jacobsens work, the site, the architecture, the design details, the art collection and furnishings come together as an amazing piece of work.

Jacobsen Architecture's attention to detail, mastery of scale and thoughtful approach has always been readily visible in their Architecture, however, it also extends their interiors as well. When I was young, I dreamed of having a house designed by Hugh Newell Jacobsen. And, lucky me, that dream came true: I recently completed my home in Napa, CA. It was Hugh and Simon's first work in Northern California - only their third in the entire state - and it was an amazing experience. What many people don't realize is that, while Messrs. Jacobsen have a huge reputation, their office is very small. It's bespoke architecture. So, Hugh and Simon were involved in every detail, from the doorknobs to the air vents. Other architects and designers have come by my house to marvel at their detailing - and possibly swipe a few ideas - but a Jacobsen house can never be equaled.
