I highly recommend Striving Artists for all your framing needs. I've been working with them for years. I have framed many pieces of art and created many custom mirrors working with Boris and Jay over the years, and each one has been handled creatively and thoughtfully. Their attention to detail includes not only expert craftsmanship of the materials you see, but also careful selection of the proper hanging hardware so that each piece hangs securely in place. I knew without a doubt that I could trust Striving Artists to frame a client's family heirloom - an invitation to the White House dating from the 1930s - and they did a beautiful job highlighting and preserving this precious object. My clients were thrilled!

I visited Striving Artists twice because I couldn't decide on the style and color of the frame (I remodeled my house recently and wanted a new mirror for the living room... remodel was tough). Boris was very patient with me, which is amazing, I am not used to people spending so much time with one customer in this day and age. In the end of the second visit, I finally chose a design made of two different moldings. Frankly, it never occurred to me that this kind of thing is possible if Boris hadn't recommended it. I am very glad I trusted his opinion. After the hard months of remodel, working with Boris was a breeze!

We needed several large frames for a photo project, where frame backs could be easily opened to swap different pictures out and we didn't want stock, boring mats. We didn't know how that would work. Boris explained everything and the final product exceeded our expectations. Gallery owner said our photo had the best frame among all those on exhibit. Their customer service is the best.

Starting with the selection of frame material and color through the selection of matting and glass, Jay was of invaluable assistance to me. We recently acquired six original Japanese wood block prints. They are very beautiful, but being over a hundred years old and printed on rice paper, they are also very fragile. And the inks used to make them are highly fugitive and extraordinarily sensitive to UV light. Getting them framed properly to both showcase their beauty but to also protect them for decades to come was very important to us. Out of all the options available in Los Angeles, we chose Striving Artists in Chatsworth to do the job. Working closely with the owner, Boris Smorodinsky, we came up with a plan. To maximize the beauty of the prints, we opted for a simple black frame, with linen wrapped matting. Again, working with Boris, we chose low-key color combinations in the matting that not only echoed the colors in the prints, but also popped them, expanded the apparent size of the prints, and yet allowed the six prints to feel like they were part of an integrated whole. By using museum grade mats and acid free linen wrapping, we were able to guarantee the viability of the 100 year old rice paper used for another hundred years. And by using Optium Museum Acylic, as suggested by Boris, with its ability to effectively block up to 99% of harmful indoor and outdoor UV light, we were able to guarantee the viability of the fugitive inks used in making the prints for decades into the future as well. The Optium glass also offers less than 1% reflection and 97% light transmission. The end result is simply stunning. The bottom line is that thanks to Striving Artists, we now have valuable prints that are fully protected far into the future and that also present with extraordinary brightness and contrast levels as well as exceptional color transmission. We are very pleased.

Before coming to Striving Artists Framing and Art Services a year or so ago.....I did my homework and read reviews of framing businesses. I am delighted that I selected Boris and his incredibly talented staff to handle my artwork. I have used other places for my clients, but the quality and creative assistance goes beyond expectations. My most recent (personal) project was for the holidays. I brought in a handbag / tote that belonged to my dear friend that had passed away. Her husband gave it to me as a token of remembrance and our mutual love of shopping! Boris and Jay were able to fashion three perfect frames out of the material as a keepsake and memory of one of our shopping trips to San Francisco. It was done perfectly.....whereas I only thought I could get one frame from this tote, Jay and Boris were able to make Three! I in turn gave one to her husband and to another dear friend as a gift.
