Our experience working with TKP was wonderful. We built a home from scratch, on a lot with a few topographical and permitting constraints. Karen and Steve were a dream team to work with. We came into the project with a multi-page wish list and they met every single one of our requests. I should also say that this was our first ever new build project as a family and TKP was kind and patient in teaching us many, many things that we didn’t already know. The house turned out so beautifully; and we couldn’t be happier.

We are so very glad that we selected TKP to design our Dream Home in the foothills west of Denver! It was a true partnership from the get-go. They even helped us selected the land we built on, giving us guidance on how best they could maximize use of the several lots we had under consideration. Karen and Erin guided us every step of the way - recognizing that this was our first custom home to build, and that we had lots to learn along the way. They were extraordinarily patient, and did a great job of explaining technical things in a way that we could process and make decisions on. In particular, they spent a LOT of time learning about us, our lifestyle, and the way we envisioned maximizing the use of the space in our new home. As a result, every single square foot of this house suits our needs exactly! For example, we have a killer southern view from the house, and we asked TKP to design the house so that every room possible face that southern view. As a result, EVERY room in the house, except the dining room, enjoys that great view (and the dining room view isn’t bad either!) We are so happy in our new home, and we get tons of compliments from all who visit. Doing a custom build is not for the faint of heart - sometimes it felt like a slog, but in the end it was well worth it.

TKP brings premier architectural services with a local, intimate approach. We used them for a project on the lower end of their cost range, and they treated us like their top client. They were extremely creative and flexible in designs, and worked very well with the master contractor. Very reasonable cost structure for the value. Bottom line: you will get the product you want with them.

My sister and I used TKP Architects to design our dream home in the foothills west of Denver and we are very happy that we did. During the initial meeting, Karen Keating and Paul Deardorff asked plenty of questions to understand our needs and priorities. Most of the design work was conducted by Paul and Jayme Ciacio and we found them to be easy to work with and very focused on our needs. Their level of communication and responsiveness were excellent throughout the project which was critical as we were living out of state. They not only designed our home, but also suggested contractors to interview and took care of preparing the documents that needed to be submitted to our HOA and the county for approval. The process was very smooth thanks to the expertise and professionalism of TKP. As the design matured, they listened to the changes we wanted to incorporate and came up with solutions and options for us to consider. We really appreciated the 3D renderings they were able to provide and the collaborative approach they use. The level of engagement between TKP, our builder and ourselves was excellent. Everyone that we worked with had great things to say about TKP and were more than happy to engage with us because of their involvement in our project. We wanted a cost-effective design that blended with the mountain atmosphere and took advantage of the incredible views and TKP delivered that for us. We had an exceptional experience working with them and would not hesitate to use them again.

We highly recommend TKP Architects! No question about it. We had such a great experience working with all the people at the firm. Every single person was professional, caring, and willing to listen to our interests and our concerns. They helped us create a great house in the mountains where we can go to relax after a day of skiing and mountain biking. They even took into consideration space for our guests and for our two dogs. They have listened intently, asked amazing questions and have truly designed a home I know we will love for years to come. We engaged TKP Architects and Karen Keating after interviewing several other firms to build our dream home. Karen and the entire firm are all professionals with an extreme amount of experience, excellent customer service and communication. From the first meeting with Karen, we understood clearly their process as well as our financial obligations. Karen spent time asking questions, learning and understanding not only our desires for our home but also how we live and use the spaces within it. Karen and her staff always had informative suggestions and explanations with pros and cons so that we could make the best decisions. When interviewing builders, everyone commented on how TKP’s drawings are always exceptional with many more details given than other firms. This allows the builders to perform their jobs with ease and confidence knowing exactly what was intended. Not only are they incredible architects, they also referred us to our builder, interior designer and many other subs who have also been top notch. The entire process has been extremely smooth and well run. Thanks to Karen and TKP our home is truly a work of art. We are extremely grateful and happy to have chosen such an A+ architectural firm.

We've always been impressed with Karen's work in our neighborhood and were lucky she had an opening to consult with us when we were ready to renovate our 28-year-old home. We spent a few hours talking about what we liked and didn't, and she came up with a design that was absolutely perfect for us. It is contemporary, but warm, and is everything we could have hoped for. She pays great attention to detail to make sure everything not only looks good by itself, but coordinates with everything around it. I could not recommend Karen and her protégée, Kat, more highly!

We couldn't be happier with the level of professionalism, service, design and communication we are getting from TKP. Erin created a beautiful contemporary design for the major remodel of a very dated and dark house for our mom. She really listened to what Mom said was important to her and incorporated those elements into the design. Everyone we've interacted with at TKP from the senior to the junior architect to the coordinating engineer has been extremely responsive. Best of all, the TKP team has made what could have been a very stressful project a fun experience filled with humor and excitement instead.

TKP designed a garage with apartment on top and large office in basement below (3 total levels) in Golden with very strict limitations imposed by city planning. This was also in a historic district and important for us that it blended into the neighborhood. TKP designed an absolutely beautiful structure that met all of our needs, was within limits of city planning (no variances needed). The apartment is beautiful, bright, feels spacious, plenty of storage. The entire project was completed during the pandemic and at budget. TKP was wonderful to work with, great ideas, great communication.

TKP was referred by a friend when we decided to build our dream home. From the moment we initially met with Paul and Karen, we were impressed with not only their technical knowledge, professionalism and prior projects, but by the fact that, from the beginning, they took a very personal interest in our project. They helped, with us having never done anything like this before, in so many areas outside of just the design and architecture. They helped us put a team together from builder to interior design and many of the skilled trades in between and we grew to quickly trust their recommendations and suggestions. The entire TKP staff was tremendous and very easy to work with as we met and worked with many talented folks over the 16 month design period and the 18 month build. We had periodic meetings both in office and on site and Paul and Karen continually came up with new ideas and suggestions that made the process so much easier for us. Changes or modifications in the design were fairly minimal because of the great ongoing communication throughout the process that was developed by TKP. TKP made what could have been a difficult and frustrating process quite easy. We ended up with a beautiful home that exceeded our expectations, which honestly were pretty high to begin with. We could not have chosen more beneficial partner for our project. In short, They took our "vision" and turned it into a reality that exceeded the vision.

TKP designed a beautiful home for my husband and me that is a pleasure to live in. They cleverly incorporated our ideas so the house truly feels like ours. TKP also managed some unique challenges, as the house can function as a standalone ADU or as a complimentary addition to our son’s home. After reviewing the TKP portfolio online and our initial meeting with Karen & Paul we knew that they were the right firm for our project. The objective was to update our 1990’s mountain home in Evergreen, CO. Karen and team came back with a plan that included everything we wanted and more. She helped us select a builder and after the initial bids came in higher than we wanted, we needed to trim down the project. Karen went to work and outlined a short list of design elements that we could modify to meet our financial target while still obtaining our larger goals. We had the pleasure of working with Karen Keating and TKP for an extensive remodel of our Colorado mountain house. We discovered her firm while researching various mountain house photographs. Karen's designs stood out for their quality and fit with the high country. We were pleased when we first met her and toured our "before" house. She was excited about the potential the house held and many of the original architect's thoughts/designs. We embarked on a lengthy remodel and were in constant touch with Karen and her team. She also provided valuable input with the time-intensive design/color selections for the house, pulling everything together into one cohesive plan. Karen was there to support us and provide important advice during the inevitable ups and downs of a remote remodel. The finished design is everything we wanted, and we love entertaining family and friends there. Would we use Karen again? Absolutely! We are already planning on asking for her help with an outbuilding and possibly an in-town project!

The objective of the project was to transform a very dated 1970's chalet-style house into a modern home appropriate to the foothills of Colorado through a combination of rehabilitation and addition. Karen Keating and her team were with us every step of the way from design through construction, assuring quality and consistency. They continually impressed us with their cooperative professionalism, willingness to put up cheerfully with a client whose ideas continued to evolve through the design process, and creativity in working through thorny design problems that arose from blending together two different types of houses into something that felt like a coherent whole. Erin, my project manager architect really kept me on track as owner, builder, general contractor, designer, broker in my macro decision making. I had the best experience working with this firm! From the very start they were on top of their game with verifying what I could and could not do being that I was in a flood plain. They listened carefully to my needs and turned a 1958 mid century home into a contemporary gem. I did not want to do much with the exterior except for color and trim changes and we agreed that the entrance needed to be updated. That one change gave the exterior a whole different look. Erin Elston nailed the exterior with her design which set the mood for the rest of the house. I would recommend TKP to anyone! They respond when you need them and that's important to me. This was a great relationship!

TKP architects designed the plans for a complete remodel of a 1985 unit at Polo Club North. They had to redesign access to the basement and came up with a beautiful rounded staircase which is the envy of all our neighbors. The entire project is everything we envisioned and much more. We highly recommend them.

Karen and Paul designed a custom mountain contemporary home for us in Evergreen. We selected them partly because we were so happy with the floor plan of our previous home, which they had designed 20 years earlier. TKP's experience with exactly the style we wanted paid off, and we are thrilled with the results. It is a blend of modern and classic, and its soaring roof lines and large windows, as well as careful siting on our lot perfectly achieve our desire to bring together the indoor and outdoor spaces. We threw in quite a few ideas of our own, and they worked with us to make sure we got the results we wanted. We had more contact with Paul than Karen, but both were accessible for key discussions. In addition to architectural services, TKP provided access to an excellent structural engineer, which was very helpful. On the negative side, there were times when communications seemed to lag, and design took longer than expected. Now that we are in our house, we appreciate everything that TKP did to make it special and uniquely ours.

Several years ago we hired TKP/Karen Keating to design a remodel of our upstairs loft and stair railings. We were thrilled with the result. In 2015, we again hired Karen to work with us to design a large remodel of our main floor including an addition, totally new reconfigured kitchen, powder room and deck. The addition consisted of enclosing part of our old deck into the main level of the house and taking down a load bearing wall to completely open up the main floor. We added a triple bank of sliders for an indoor/outdoor room to the new deck. Karen has a great design aesthetic that we love. She was very very helpful in her recommendations regarding products, fixtures, etc. But she still left choices of finish to the homeowner. She even invited us to her house on several occasions to see her newly remodeled home for ideas. I highly recommend Karen. She is a real pro!

After thinking about our remodel for nearly 10 years we finally decided to start the project. We put a lot of thought into this project and a lot of thought into who we would use to design our new home. Remodel isn’t really correct, it is actually a new home built around what is left of a very old historic home. From day one, our experience with TKP Architects has been a pleasure. Erin has been the principal architect on our project with Karen overseeing as well. TKP sat down with us several times and it was obvious they were listening intently to our thoughts on the project. They had a lot of restrictions to work with. There are the requirements of the Historic Board as well as seamlessly tying a new home into an older one. They added their expertise and came back with a design that hit the nail on the head, the first time! It was obvious that they had really listened to our thoughts and ideas and put it into a design that really worked. Erin’s attention to detail has been amazing. She has been a driving force on our project and has constantly been ahead of all of us on the project. Her ideas show creativity and professionalism. She has been with us every step of the way and it wouldn’t be the same project without her or TKP. TKP has their own engineer on Staff and Dave has also been involved from the beginning. It has been a challenge working with old brick walls and an old foundation with structural issues. One old brick wall’s integrity was suspect and according to our builder, many engineers would have taken the easy way out and tore the wall down. Dave instead came up with a solution that reinforced and saved the wall. Our foreman welcomes Dave’s ideas and his presence on the job site. We cannot speak highly enough of TKP Architects. We would recommend their firm without reservation for any project.

Karen Keating and Paul Deardorff offered a refreshing view of Clororado architecture that inspired us to consider a floorplan and style that we might not have otherwise. The process has been enjoyable and rewarding. As the project progressed Tim Barstad was very helpful with addressing changes. The TKP team are professionals that have a passion for the craft!

I recently hired TKP Architects to draw and design my new home. During the design process, Paul and Karen took the time to get to know us so they could better understand how we live and what we wanted in the design of our home. The end result is absolutely stunning and exactly what we wanted. StraitLine Const. Co is a custom home turnkey framing co. We have been fortunate to have several client's that have used TKP Architects for there projects. SLC works on many projects but rarely do we find a set of plans to be so complete and detailed, from floor plans, elevations, sections, and Eng. specs. This allows our co. to estimate much more timely and create much tighter bids. We always get a smile on our face when we see TKP on the plans. TKP designed my remodel and were fantastic! First, they listen to what i currently liked about my kitchen and what i considered problems and what my dream kitchen might look like. I never thought i could have my own office space and yet they found a way to incorporate an office hidden in my kitchen. I just love it, i can work in my office and keep it messy and then pull my pocket door closed and the kitchen looks wonderful and neat. TKP was enthusiastic and creative. I will continue to use them for any project i have in the future. The entire firm is professional and wonderful to work with and i enjoyed every minute of this experience.

TKP actually designed two houses for me! They designed the first house on our property and then, when our house in LA didn't sell for months and months, they designed a 5,000+ sq. ft. addition onto our guest house on the property (2,300 sq. ft.) . They did a great job on both projects, but showed their creativity by adding on to our guest house. Their attention to detail, listening skills, and superb execution really impressed my General Contractor. We love our house and wouldn't change a thing. It is a Colorado mountain style, with a wood beam package, douglas fir/chinked exterior, wood floors and natural materials throughout. Very rustic. We would use them again in a heartbeat.

We hired this company to come up with plans for a total remodel. They really listened to us. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw the initial plans because they were exactly what we wanted. We only had to make a few tweets. Looking forward to putting the plans into action!

When we decided to build a house in the foothills west of Denver we researched a great many architects. Our diligence was extremely thorough. We inspected websites, conducted telephone interviews with eight architects and their clients and then selected a shortlist of four to interview further. The in-person interviews were rigorous and explored not just the competence of the architects in terms of areas of expertise but also their creativity and imagination. We were also interested in the relationship since we would not be in the area during the design and development process. The TKP team emerged as the clear leaders in every dimension. They are first class, knowledgeable, assiduously detail orientated and super responsive. They worked very hard to understand what we were looking for in the house and also contributed numerous ideas and suggestions where appropriate. They really understand the technology and are skilled in all areas of development from concept, planning right through to designing décor. Their knowledge on materials and the myriad suppliers of appliances and fittings is comprehensive. They know how to satisfy their clients. Most important of all we have a great relationship with the whole TKP team and I know that the general contractor, that we selected through the same detailed process, shares our very positive view of our entire experience.

We hired TKP Architects in Golden CO to remodel our 1950s ranch. They listened to our family's needs and budget and came up with a beautiful and clever design. The architects and staff at TKP have been knowledgable, experienced and enjoyable to work with as well. While no remodel project is easy, their design and attention to detail has made our build process run quite smoothly with issues addressed immediately. We had the tremendous good fortune to work with Karen Keating and Peter Boes of TKP on a remodel/gut rehab of our cozy Denver bungalow. Built in the 1920's, the house has character and good bones, but was feeling tired. And it's got a small footprint. Instead of popping the top or building out from the back of the house, we wanted to turn the basement into truly livable space in order to stay true to the house and the neighborhood. The other architects we met with spent a lot of time pointing out other pop tops and extensions and trying to cajole us into changing our minds. Karen got what we wanted to do right away and came up with a way to stay within the shell of the house but more than double the livable space. After Karen shaped the direction of the project, we got to work with Peter, a brilliant architect in his own right, who dialed in on all the details (and we were pretty hard core on details). Peter worked closely with the builder (Old Greenwich Builders - amazing, but that's another review) and guided them through some really tricky bits while making the whole experience painless for us. If we find ourselves in need of architectural services again, our first and only call will be to TKP.

They quickly came up with several solutions to our biggest design problems. Like all good professionals, they listened to our requests and ideas. Then went to work guiding us through the many problems and decisions that come about in a remodel project. The architects at TKP have great vision and practical ideas. I had spent months working with another architect to design an addition to our 55-year-old home but nothing clicked. Then Karen Keating looked all through our home, sat down and in a matter of minutes roughly sketched out a plan which included a dining nook, den, office, bath and storage room. I knew we'd found the firm with which we wanted to work. Everyone that we worked with at TKP was respectful of our ideas, and then made them even better. We love our three-year-old, 1000 square foot "new" space. It flows beautifully with the original house.
