We had an amazing experience working with Vancouver General Contractors for our recent home renovation. From the start of the design phase all the way to project completion, everything ran smoothly. A special thank you to our designer, Jessica, for her incredible vision and creativity in bringing our ideas to life, and to our project manager, Kia, for keeping everything organized in, on track, and stress-free on-site. The quality of the work is fantastic, and we are so happy with our newly renovated space. Highly recommend the entire team at VGC!

Vancouver General Contractors was the choice I made to renovate my Kitchen, Ensuite Bathroom, Electrical and Painting. I was very happy with the operation of the company. Zaineb was my initial project contact and my very helpful designer. She had wonderful ideas and she really helped me to see the potential that the choices I made would look like at the end result. Hamed was my project supervisor and he too, was extremely helpful and accommodating to whatever I needed. He arranged the crews to come in and do their respective jobs and worked with my schedule. With the help of Parm, everything was done up to code and on schedule. New lighting and new paint brought everything together and created my dream. All safety codes were met regarding Co-Vid and in regards to the crews working on my renovations. I couldn't be happier and I love my new Apartment.

I found Vancouver General Contractors (VGC) from Google search then I visited their office in Sep. 2021 to discuss my kitchen and two bathrooms renovation. I found they have a good system/app to show base on my budget, the detailed allocation to Scope and Material. And, under "Material" (my allowance), if I decided to upgrade or remove, I can play around with it. As I am from accounting background, I like the number is clear and easy to check. So, I decided to go with them. Once the budget and scope of work is decided, then I moved to met my designer. She is very experienced and also a good listener so I can discuss fully with her of my ideals, style and color tone. Then she directed her team to prepare very detailed architectural/internal design drawings including even the location of lighting and plumbing fixtures that I was very impressed. She also gave professional advices when I am not sure what to pick that is very helpful. Once design stage is done, the on-site renovate starts. My project manager he has professional architectural background and is very easy to communicate. Base on the drawings binder on site, He supervised the contractors to make sure the renovation following the drawings, good standards and time line are met. He also solved many on site problems. We recently had a full master bedroom renovation completed by VGC. I had been dreaming about a beautiful bathroom for years. Our designer, Zaineb gave us amazing renovation idea. Master bathroom turned out completely different place. It looks like 5 star hotel bathroom. My two teenage girls love it a lot. Tiles, glass windows, lights, everything great. Project manager, Talal worked very hard during construction. He came to our place almost everyday to make sure everything is ok. Whenever I asked him something, he responded quickly and made action. The contractors were very reliable and did great job Our cost went up much higher than initial budget, but result is superb. I just love our new master bathroom.

I had been dreaming how I wanted my kitchen to look for years. I live in a traditional house which was built in the 80’s. As you can imagine, the old-style cabinets with corner units that you need to crawl in to reach to the back, no dish washer (I was the dish washer for the past 20 years...), limited counter spaces, nonfunctional kitchen flow when you cook ………. Thanks to VGC (Vancouver General Contractor), our long-waited dream kitchen was finally completed in December 2020. Also wanted to give thumbs up to their designer Hoda throughout our project. Our kitchen looks amazing, contemporary, bright, functional and I have received a lot of good compliments from my family and friends on my NEW kitchen / home. Huge THANK YOU to Hoda for her hard work to guide us through all the roadblocks, timely communication, responsiveness and always available when we needed her presence for assistance. She provided her professional design sense to transform our traditional kitchen into a beautiful modern kitchen to our family. Also, we would like to THANK Ravi, our project manager, for his assistance / professionalism to manage all the tradespeople and contractors in the last 4 months and deliver our kitchen to us right before the New Year! We cannot leave without saying thanks to Shwan, our consultant, to bring Hoda and Ravi to our kitchen project so we can enjoy for many years to come. Great team work for job well done!

Our overall experience with VGC, working with Zaineb to design and plan, and Valdis who helped manage the project, was very good. Because of them, we now have a beautiful ensuite bathroom, space for a walk in closet, new flooring, paint job, new doors, lighting and railing (Sept - mid Jan 2021). Zaineb is able to provide good advice in terms of the design and does her very best to try and solve any issues that arise (e.g., following up with contractors to fix mistakes). Valdis is great at ensuring that the project stays within our expected timelines. We were fortunate that there were no major surprises when it came to the demolition and our project generally stayed on budget. One feedback that VGC can improve upon is scheduling (e.g., when the contractors first receive their instructions to do the design work (tiling pattern and new railing post design), for us to be present to ensure we are all on the same page)). Also, advance ordering during the project was very important especially during COVID-19 restrictions/limitations with supplies, as we have experienced with the 2 week delay in getting our carpet. However, with all things considered, I would still recommend VGC to others in terms of their ability to get the work done to your liking. Zaineb and Valdis are easy to work with and are always responsive.

We chose VCG to renovate two bathrooms in our downtown condo because they offered both design and construction services with a well-defined process. We encountered some confusion about the costs during the initial quotation and statement of work phase of the project, but these were resolved and once the actual work was able to proceed after a long Covid delay, we were very pleased with how smoothly the renovation proceeded. Our designer, Hoda, was very helpful in guiding us through material selection and suggesting options that matched our preferences. She was also very diligent at finding suitable alternatives when our selections became unavailable from the suppliers. Our project manager, Ravi, was very responsive to our requests and despite some unforeseen issues, the project was completed ahead of schedule. The primary sub-contractor that VCG selected was also very knowledgeable and accommodating. Overall, we are pleased with the outcome and would recommend VCG to others looking for a company to do both the design and construction aspects of a renovation project.

We recently completed a full update of our basement with VGC with a limited budget. Demolition started mid-May and was completed 4 months later. The subcontractors were generally professional, efficient and reliable. This project owes its successful completion to Zaineb who was our project manager and designer. She deserves 10 stars for her project management, negotiation skill, and drive to get the work done. Because of her, we have a lovely new bathroom, gorgeous flooring, efficient laundry and an updated space layout that has improved our quality of life. She is an excellent problem solver and really listened to our concerns; she made it her job to fix them to our satisfaction. Overall I only give VGC 3 stars due to cost overruns from deficient initial estimates, costly inadequate professional technical advise and opaque financial reporting.

I recently had a full kitchen renovation completed. After agreeing with VGC to go ahead with my project (with Schwan) just before the Covid lockdown in the spring, I was unsure about what would happen. However, once VGC were able to get their operations running again we were able to proceed safely. My experience was very good. I worked with Zaineb on the project, who helped me with my design selections and also managed the project overall once underway. This was my first large reno project and I was quite concerned about it, which is why I wanted a company who had a full range of services. It went very well. Zaineb kept on top of the schedule and the contractors and informed me when issues came up that required my attention. The contractors were reliable, efficient and did a good job. I was especially concerned about the project given the Covid measures we have in place but despite this everything was done according to plan. I had some minor gripes with a couple of the change orders and little things towards the end of the project, like decorative finishes, but these were addressed before completion. Zaineb was a great help, available to respond when needed and keeping me informed. Overall I'm very happy with my experience and would recommend them. I would be happy to use them again for my next project.

We hired VGC to do a renovation in our office to create an events space and a new meeting room. Nothing fancy or exiting as the other amazing projects I see reviewed here, but it was really important for us. Everything was done accordingly to the project within the timeframe they stipulated at the beginning. They kept our office clean for the entire time, even with all the demolition involved. Another satisfied customer :).

The most unprofessional and unaccountable company I have encountered. Not one piece of their work was done correctly. At no point were they able to fulfill their role as a general contractor. Their project manager was nonexistent, their trades either didn't show up or didn't know what they were supposed to do. They damaged every new item, left unfinished work repeatedly to the point I am just going to have another contractor repair the absolute horrible job they did. Use this company at your own risk.

Avoid this company. Unacceptable work, missed every deadline, unreliable trades, terrible management. Turnover of staff was constant. Horrible customer service. Nothing positive to say about this company.

After considering various alternatives, we chose Vancouver General Contractors to turn our dark and dated open concept first floor into a light, bright, modern open plan living masterpiece! It is simply splendid. From our first meeting with Shwan, the Project Consultant, when we discussed our vision, to the end of the project, we were part of all the decisions on everything that needed to be done. We were consulted extensively by Rose, Hoda and the Head Designer Zaineb. They listened and delivered. It was a big project with new floors, cabinets, huge pantry, fireplace, powder room, live wall, new doors and so many other details. The Head Designer, who we absolutely love, Zaineb Al-Saffar was on top of everything -- a great asset to have when we needed any communication with any concerns or questions. She worked very closely with both of us and with her Chief Contractor Mo; Mo was in charge of overseeing the whole project. Mo is great, knows his job, and is quite a perfectionist. A pleasure to work with. Central to the team, Ash and Sarah were absolutely perfect. Renovating our place like no others and recommending solutions to our concerns. The kitchen cabinets and the sitting benches by the window are splendid! Madan Mohan, from Danma Cabinets here in the lower mainland, designed and installed the kitchen and dining room. Excellent workmanship and professionalism. He responded with respect and agreement when we needed to have features corrected. He stands behind his product and workmanship!, The quality of product and workmanship by Canadian Countertops is undeniable; both the kitchen counters, backsplash and fireplace surrounding are perfect. Because of Covid-19, the live wall has not yet been delivered and installed, but this will be done as soon as health restrictions are lifted. Overall, Vancouver General Contractors has delivered well beyond our expectations and we marvel every day at how our home has been transformed. The team was professional, hardworking and produced a high standard of work. Also, I cannot sing high enough praises of Zaineb and Mo, who helped us through the whole process. We highly recommend Vancouver General Contractors!! In fact, we have hired them again to renovate our old bathroom upstairs… the design and material are state of art and it is going to be gorgeous! We are very happy with the renovation Vancouver General Contractors did for us. We had our kitchen completely redesigned, our powder room updated, and new paint and flooring put in our living room. The kitchen was originally built in the old-box style, so the living and dining areas were two small rooms. We really wanted to knock down the wall between the kitchen and living room for an open concept and a larger kitchen. There were some construction challenges needed to achieve this because the wall separating the two rooms was a load-bearing wall and contained all of the plumbing and duct work. Not only would they need to tear down the existing wall but install 2 load-bearing beams and move all the plumbing. We had been told to book a one week stay in a hotel while this work was done, but incredibly the contractor, Firas, and the plumber, had the job completed in only 3 ½ days, saving us a significant amount of money and inconvenience. We really enjoyed working with our Interior Designer Sepideh, discussing the design options and choosing our materials and accents. Our Project Director Haytham then worked very hard to ensure our renovation was built as smoothly as possible. We are very happy with the end result and would definitely recommend using Vancouver General Contractors for your renovation needs.

I'm really happy with the final project. It's exactly as my wife Linda envisioned and the VGC team were on the ball every step of the way. There are a few things that I recommend for everyone and that's to 1) talk to VGC before you do any construction project - they are very helpful and 2) take into consideration that they are full-service, they have a person dedicated to every step including material design and selection. This saved us a lot of time and headache. Thank you again team and I truly believe you are one of the top Vancouver home renovation companies.

We hired Vancouver General Contractors to do a complete renovation of our Burnaby condominium. This included a brand-new kitchen, cabinets and countertops, two updated new bathrooms, new flooring and paint and electrical upgrading. We enjoyed working with our Project Director, Haytham, as he always communicated with us to let us know about any progress updates or changes that were happening in regards to the renovation. We also enjoyed working with the contractor RJ. We are pleased with the end result and the Design and Build produced by Vancouver General Contractors."

The initial challenges I experienced with VGC have been addressed by the GM Hussain and he has worked with me since my initial challenges and concerns to address and rectify the situation. We have come to a mutually respectful and positive agreement that both of us (client and contractor) feel is fair. I wish to adjust my review to reflect that when there are issues and challenges VGC is willing to work with you in order to set things right. I have had my challenges and issues addressed and feel that the company did their best to overcome the concerns that I had during the renovation process. Over all my space has a fresh and open feel which was my goal, the concerns I had have been addressed to be fixed

I used VGC to facilitate the renovation of my 1-bedroom apartment in East Vancouver. The whole process was very easy and as stress-free as a renovation can be! I love the end result and have full confidence that everything was done to a high standard. They were also great about adjusting the budget in instances where I went a bit over on certain finishes. At the end of the Reno we came in exactly at the budget they quoted, and within a week of the proposed end date. Despite a couple hiccups they couldn't have foreseen. RJ (the Contractor), Haytham (the Project Manager) and Sepi (the designer) were all great to work with and now I get to live in an absolutely beautiful apartment!

We hired Vancouver General Contractors to make our condo mobility friendly for one of our family members in a wheelchair. We started by custom ordering automated touchless systems from Dado Doors. We were really impressed with the technology so ended up doubling our original order. This was a challenging job for Vancouver General Contractors as they had to custom build the framework and the doors for the motorized parts, but their talented trades people did the job. We now have doors where a simple wave of the hand will automatically open the door for easy mobility through all the rooms in our house. Vancouver General Contractors also redesigned our kitchen for mobility use, cutting out part of the Kitchen Island so the wheelchair can easily move and circle around the Island. They also installed motorized kitchen drawers and cabinetry where a light push automatically opens them for easy access. Our kitchen was also updated with modern black stainless steel range hood and counters, and a beautiful red glass on the back splash! Our Project Manager was knowledgeable and attentive and our Interior Designer worded with the design we came up with and was full of great modern ideas. We were really happy with the suggested designs and colours. We would recommend Vancouver General Contractors for all you home renovating and mobility-friendly needs!

It is with pleasure that we write this review of Vancouver General Contractors (VGC) for our kitchen renovation. From the very beginning of our experience with VGC, the communication was great! We initially communicated by email as that was the easiest for my husband and I, however we always received a prompt response to our emails. Once the renovation started we were in regular contact with our Project Manager; at least once a week on the phone or in person, and often daily via text when things were busy. It was very reassuring to know he was there to answer any of our questions or address our concerns. When issues came up during demolition, as they are bound to do, our Project Manager worked hard with us to find the best cost effective solution, and made sure we were promptly updated with any changes. We were also impressed with the quality of work. From the designer who worked hard with us to create a beautiful vision within a complicated space, to the trades who turned that vision into a reality. They were all very pleasant, knowledgeable and patient with us. They all took the time to answer our questions and discuss the work they were completing. We always felt fully informed and never felt we were being disruptive. They were also all great at brainstorming with us and the Project Manager when problems arose. At the end of the day, we always came home to a clean and tidy job site. Our project even completed ahead of schedule! Our Project Manager was great at having all of the trades scheduled to come and do their work. Now that the job is done, we are impressed by the level of craftsmanship, and we are very pleased at how much more functional and attractive our kitchen is thanks to the help of the designer. Our only suggestion for improvement would be to revisit the design after the demolition stage and rough construction is done. Sometimes structural issues during demolition result in changes that have an unintended impact on the design. We are recommending VGC to anyone who asks, and one of our friends have already gone in for a quote.

We hired Vancouver General Contractors to renovate our entire condo. We found this firm of young professionals to be efficient, considerate and accommodating of the owners requests and changes, and supplied excellent renovation work. The project manager, Alex was always willing to aid and assist with any problems and worked quickly to resolve any issues. VGC completed a Design + Build of my condo. They did an amazing job of walking me through the process. Although it was a lot of work they took a majority of the stress of my shoulders and completed everything as they promised. I hired Vancouver General Contractors to renovate the bathroom in my condo and to also to add all the plumbing and electrical stuff needed to install a washer & vent free dryer in a closet. This was my first time ever to have such work done so I was quite nervous. All the people I dealt with at Vancouver General Contractors were professional and made me feel at ease. I now have in-suite laundry (which I love) and I also have a gorgeous bathroom. I would definitely recommend them to others.

Vancouver General Contractors did a wonderful job on my kitchen. Not only were they efficient but effective as well. Their young team of employees were courteous and always well mannered when doing renovations at my home. Overall I quite enjoyed the work they provided. I hired VGC for a Bathroom and Kitchen renovation after being referred to them by my neighbor down the street. Within 2 days, Bryan showed up and we sat down and discussed my goals. He took measurements and within another 2 days I got my estimate. After a few changes in colors and materials, they got started. From the moment I met Bryan to the time of completion I am the happiest customer alive. Excellent work gentleman, I will continue to recommend you to everyone!
