It was time for an update and refresh of our downstairs and central stairway living space...paint, rugs, carpeting, window treatments and lighting. Valerie Ruddy and Nora Ritter were spot on with paint color and fabric choices. They met every deadline, utilized excellent painters and installers and were ever mindful of remaining within a budget. Questions were always answered in a timely way with patience and a smile. It's always a pleasure working with them and I look forward to our next project.

Valerie has assisted us with redecorating our living room and dining room as well as coordinating floor refinishing, painting and a new TV/audio system. We have been working together for about a year and a half. Her ideas and execution have been outstanding. She listens carefully to our views and presents a range of options and price alternatives. Valerie was an invaluable help in decorating the living spaces in my townhouse. She immediately understood my taste, my needs and my budget level, and she worked hard to design rooms that I love to spend time in. She personally oversaw deliveries and any work that needed to be done. The furniture she found for me is both comfortable and beautiful, and blends well with my existing pieces. We hired Valerie in early 2014 and have been working with her ever since. She is a fantastic designer with excellent taste. She designed new overhead lighting for us in our living room and kitchen as well as under-cabinet lighting in our kitchen, which required some carpentry as well. She coordinated installation and patching/painting where needed. She then solved an issue of not enough seating in our kitchen by efficiently and economically re-designing the space, which required additional carpentry services and a custom-built cabinet and table counter. Now she is working with us on re-designing our living room, and getting custom window treatments in the living and dining room. She has exceeded all our expectations and we cannot recommend her enough.

I had the great pleasure of working with Valerie Ruddy of Decorating Den on my kitchen project. Valerie is incredibly knowledgeable; about materials, colors, furniture, and design aesthetic. She was able to quickly and intuitively understand what I wanted to achieve and worked with me on bringing the ideas to reality. She is easy to work with, extremely clear in her methods of design and clear in her ability to share her knowledge, ideas and design solutions with me. Valerie recently helped us design a family/game room in the basement of our townhouse. We had the games and the walls but not much else. Valerie created a very inviting, beautiful and extremely functional space. We had never worked with a designer before but she made the process easy. She totally got “us” and was respectful of our budget. She coordinated all the construction and deliveries and made sure that everything was perfect. We’ve received tons of compliments on the room and we look forward to many fun parties in our new space. She also did a “face-lift” on our powder room turning it into an exquisite gem of a bathroom with elegant wallpaper, new fixtures and accessories. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Valerie on any decorating project in the future. I only wish I had meet her sooner!

Valerie is very easy to work with. Her knowledge of and instincts for decorating are really exceptional. She also knows how to stick to a budget and never put us under any pressure at all to spend more than the amount we allotted for our project. She worked hard to find items that we loved and could afford.
