White Oak Custom Builders did an excellent job converting my attic from a large storage area with no drywall, no HVAC, and with minimal lighting to a nice area which included a bedroom and a bonus room. Our contractor, Justin Hartman, was with us all the way on this project and kept us fully informed of the progress. Justin handled the sub contractors and made sure all the work was done properly. He steered us through the use of various materials and explained to us the pros and cons of each. Justin was also fully open to all questions and replied quickly to inquires. Ben, the primary carpenter on the job was also excellent. He arrived on time, worked very hard throughout the day and was happy to show us around as the work progressed. My wife and I will be happy to use White Oak Custom Builders in the future.

Justin and his crew totally remodeled our house - inside, out, windows, doors and everything in between. The house had been a hard-used rental and Justin, Butch and Ben (along with some stellar subs and an outstanding interior designer) turned the house into our dream space. WOCB takes care of every bit of the process. They craft the parts you don’t see, for example, adding fire brakes to the balloon framing, super-insulating the building envelope and providing the latest technology, as beautifully as they build the elements that you live in every day. Justin has developed a superior network of sub-contractors with whom he has partnered for years. These relationships can make or break a project and Justin excels at this. I feel completely confident in our house, and as confident in a 5-star rating for White Oak Custom Builders.

We had Justin and his team help us to renovate/rebuild our attic. From start to end, we were very impressed by the crew (Butch and Ben particularly) - excellent communications, highly-skilled, attention to detail, reliability, honesty/trustworthiness. Throughout the project, Justin provided creative ideas as to how best to utilize our space. Justin's experience and input were very helpful in creating a perfect space for us. In addition, Justin's time management skill was excellent - given the shortage of supply materials during the pandemic, Justin planned ahead, kept us updated, was always available to problem solve and keep the project moving! We are extremely happy with our new attic, it definitely adds great value to our house! Justin and his team recently completed a finish-out of our third floor attic space. This included the addition of a bedroom, full bathroom, recreational space, and home office. From our first meeting with Justin, we knew that White Oak Customer Builders was the contractor that we wanted to hire. Justin listened to all of our ideas and what we ultimately wanted out of the space. Based on our early discussions he helped us pull together a great design plan that was both functional and utilized all of the space to maximize the project's value. I cannot say enough great things about Butch and Ben as well. Both of them were always on-site first thing in the morning and cleaned up every afternoon as if they were never in our house. On top of that they were both very respectful of our time and even went out of the way to interact with our children. Their overall work, attention to detail, and quality were evident in every phase of the project. I was also impressed with White Oak's subcontractors who were also great to work with throughout the project. It's a rarity to see a third floor finish-out that looks like it was completed when the house was originally built. Our house is 25+ years old and White Oak spent a lot of time making sure that everything from the trim work to the moldings and doors matched the rest of our house. Again, the attention to detail was impeccable and we could not be more pleased with how things turned out. We have not shied away from recommending Justin and his team to all of our friends and look forward to having White Oak complete more projects for us in the future.

In my 30 plus years as a cabinet maker I have had the opportunity to work with quite a few general contractors on jobs that have been both small and large. For the past year one of the contractors I have worked for is Justin Hartman at White Oak Custom Builders. I am consistently impressed with his knowledge, attention to detail, and involvement in every project. Justin and his crews are really top notch! He has done extensive renovations for my clients which have included kitchens, bathrooms, reconfiguring floor plans, etc. Justin's honest communication and easy rapport makes the projects move more smoothly than most and allows the client to feel at ease during renovation. He is realistic with timelines, honest with quotes, comes in at quoted price, keeps work site very clean-which is important if client is living in the home during the renovation and crews arrive when scheduled. Justin came referred to us during our home buying process and after seeing a kitchen remodel he performed in our neighborhood we knew we were in good hands. Our project was extensive and Justin always provided an honest opinion on our vision, did not push any unnecessary work, and treated our house as if it was his own. His communication and involvement as a contractor is unparalleled - we knew exactly what was to happen each day/week and when there were delays (only minor due to weather, scheduling, etc.) we were alerted right away and promptly presented a path forward. Our project finished on time and on budget and we couldn't have done it without Justin and team.

We would recommend Justin and White Oak to any of our friends and family without hesitation. Our project included: Master Bath/ suite remodel; hall bath and powder room remodel; whole house re-plumb; framing a new legal bedroom; and lots of painting. From the onset, Justin was professional, knowledgeable, extremely responsive and well-organized. He was transparent about the estimated scope, duration, and cost of the project and we were pleasantly surprised to finish the project pretty much on time and on budget. (We did request a couple design change orders, but with savings on some allowances we leveled up just about on budget.) He was not the cheapest bid but we are confident he is the best. A huge shout out is owed to Justin’s team - Butch (project foreman) and Ben. Those guys work hard and they don’t cut a single corner. Our kids were excited to start their day before school saying hi to the guys and watching them carry in their tools. Having a lockbox on your house when you have young kids can be a little unsettling, but by the end of the project the team felt like trusted friends. We were so impressed with their talents, honesty, and hard work. One thing Justin says (and he means) is he’ll build in your house the way he would in his own. On a couple occasions I overheard him saying this to the subcontractor team when they were deciding how to approach something. We never doubted he had our best interest in mind. Long story short: White Oak provides custom, top quality workmanship and a well-managed project. The end product speaks for itself — we are in love with our house now!
