Maybe they’d be a great company. Who knows. They didn’t bother to give my landscape architect any useful information on how their cobblestones might stand up to salt in the winter. Some of their responses to our questions were actually rude they were so terse. I guess they aren’t interested in selling their product unless it’s a no-questions-asked scenario.
i purchased material from this company
We decided to redo our driveway using cobblestones. We found what we were looking for at Gavin Historical Bricks. They are genuine cobbles, used on roads and worn on one side. Our installer neede a bit of practice learning hiw to do runs and cuts. We ordered in two batches, getting the exact amount right is a bit of an art. We ordered one truckload, saw where it got us, then ordered the rest. They look absolutely great and add a lot of charm.
I bought several loads of reclaimed cobblestones from Gavin Historical Bricks in 2013 for a driveway/patio project. Gavin did a excellent job of quoting, negotiating, delivering, and follow-up. I was looking for a classic old look that you can't get from new pavers, and the reclaimed cobblestones delivered. The company even sent an extra 10% more than I ordered to offset the 4-5% of stones that are often damaged during reclamation, so I actually got more than what I paid for. I later had an issue with some of the stones being slippery when wet due to the smoothing of 100 year-old stones, and Gavin followed up with useful recommendations on materials that can be used to improve traction -- recommendations that worked. I recommend Gavin Historical Bricks as a first rate supplier.
We are thrilled with our Historical Brick driveway parking area. It looks like it has been here for 100 years. We even gathered a dozen of the bricks with imprints of the different Ohio brickyards and placed them name up at our entrance steps. Guests are fascinated. The process with the company was a pleasure. They sent a significant number of extras--needed since there is a lot of wastage due to broken and misshapen bricks. The installer must be patient to sort, chip off residual concrete/asphalt and place the bricks carefully. BUT the result is well worth it. Compared to the Historical Bricks new pavers look fake, cheap and have no character. We could not be happier.
