These guys earned my highest recommendation. I hired them for some structural concerns, and the solution and attention to detail exceeded my expectations. F.John has some deep knowledge about how/why houses were constructed the way they were in 1970, and was able to quickly find a solution to a problem I lost sleep over. He worked with his engineers and made it look easy. The crew was great, always on time, always precise, personable. The painter also did an incredible job, absolutely no slop. F.John would also send me daily pictures of their progress and steps (no other contractor has ever done this). Out of all the construction jobs I've had done over my lifetime F.John and crew did the highest quality of work, and the price was reasonable. You can't do better.

F John LaBarba, Contractor, and his crew were excellent in building an ADU behind my house in Santa Cruz. They all were experienced, honest, skilled and efficient, as well as timely. This is the best contractor I have ever known . He has done projects for me and the company does excellent service . What is amazing is the owner will tell you what might make something better if you want or if you’re not quite sure what you want he will help with ideas and design. he also does it all so the job from beginning to end if you want him to he will do it and you just have to tell him what you want and he’s does the little detail stuff too which is quite important when you do a project because it’s the small details that make the project look the best, I would recommend him to do anything. We couldn't be happier with F John La Barba Construction. It was a long process to even get started building a brand new beach house. The permitting and planning process took forever getting through the county and the CA Coastal Permit. F John stood by us throughout the process. When we got started, his employees (Brian, Matt, and Aaron) built us a super high quality house. They all take pride in their craftsmanship and are now friends of mine! Also the subs F John works with (from concrete, plumbing, electrical, to cabinets, tile, and flooring) are ALL great people and experts at what they do. I personally liked every one of them. F John has assembled a top notch team and runs a well organized company and is a great guy who has become my friend throughout this process! When do you ever hear that?

My family and I have been completing Plaster jobs for F John for over 40 years. During that time we have found him to be a pleasure to work with. F. John is so popular I had to wait two years for him to get started on my project, but it is well worth the wait. He and his crew are perfectionists, and isn't that what we all want in a contractor? He has known and used his subs for years, and they are almost as perfect as F. John and his crew. His only complaint about them is his fear that they will retire before he!! I am replacing my 40+ year old rough-cut cedar siding with cement board in several stages over hopefully not more than the next year or two (depending on F. John's availability). It's his first job using cement board, so to prepare he and his crew took tutorials from the manufacturer and purchased special tools to use on the job. Everyone arrived every single day shortly before starting time, took precisely a half hour for lunch and left shortly after quitting time. F. John stopped by nearly every day to check on progress and discuss potential problems at length with his crew and with me. He is always available via phone and email for any questions or concerns. His billings were detailed and fair, except I know he under-billed me on a couple of things but wouldn't change the bill because his records didn't jive with mine.

I've worked with John and his crew for well over a decade, they are always professional and organized, they are always there to facilitate any of our needs, communication is always clear and prompt. I highly recommend them for anyone needing a contractor for a residential or commercial project.

This is not my first project with F. John LaBarba Construction. The craftmanship and professionalism of F. John LaBarba and his staff are topnotch. This is the 2nd project F.John La Barba construction has done for me. The 1st was a 1st floor renovation: new hardwood flooring, smooth texturing the walls, gas fireplace etc. This time we totally renovated the 2nd story: New windows to replace old and dated ones, smooth wall texturing, new master bath, new flooring throughout , new doors etc. He and his crew are very knowledgable about all facets of construction, the sub contractors are professional ( they have worked together for years). F.John did an expansion and remodel of my pharmacy, doubling in size to 8,000 sq feet. He assisted with design, coordinated architects, engineers, carpenters, electricians and more to finish the project. The end result exceeded my expectations and has been a lifesaver during the pandemic, allowing us to easily distance and help protect staff and patients.
