We used Glidden Construction for our recent bathroom renovation, which was a complete gut and rebuild project and could not be happier with the process or end result. Lloyd and Eirini were incredible from start to finish! Lloyd was generous with his time, coming out to give us a ballpark estimate for the project even though we admitted we were still a few months out from starting the work. This in and of itself put him well above other contractors we attempted to contact. Lloyd was open and honest about what it would take for this project, what the unknowns might be, and what a feasible timeline for the work was, which we greatly valued.
When we were ready to start the work, Lloyd came back out and provided an honest and reasonable quote. While they weren't the lowest estimate we received, for the scope of the work and how impressed we were with our early interactions with Lloyd and his team, we felt it was a very fair price. He also listened to what we wanted and needed, thinking up creative solutions to help ensure the finished product met our expectations. Even more impressive to us was that in the end, the project finished within about 5% of the original budget, which is always remarkable in our 100+ year old house. You never know what problems are lurking behind these walls and Lloyd clearly has experience with these types of homes and projects.
As we planned to begin our project, Lloyd and Eirini were there every step of the way, helping us shop, make final selections, provide guidance on where to save or splurge, and ordering everything so that once the job started it could proceed without unnecessary delays.
The contract and payment processes were clear and easy to manage. They use a fully electronic process, which was pain-free and allowed us to outline additional questions as they arose. Their clear and timely communication really eased any stress we had along the way. Before the project started, they informed us that there might be a delay and offered to refund our deposit if we wanted to cancel our contract. Because we found someone we trusted in Glidden Construction, we opted to wait and were pleasantly surprised when they were able to start the project about 2 months ahead of schedule.
Lloyd was on site most days and his subs were thorough, skilled, genuinely nice, and worked tirelessly (especially on tile day!). Lloyd and Eirini kept us informed on the status of the project and prepared us for what unexpected things might greet us each evening. Calls, texts, e-mails, photos, they were wonderful in communicating when unexpected issues arose, outlining options, and quickly addressing issues to keep the work on schedule. They really seemed to care about this project and our sanity, despite the smallish nature of this project.
Total project time was 2 weeks from start to finish. The finished project is even better than we had anticipated and the process of working with Glidden was wonderful. We don’t want to remodel a bathroom for a long time, but they would be our first call! Lloyd and his team were responsive to punch list items and a few touch ups after the project was completed. Despite the project being finished, they have remained wonderfully responsive to any outstanding questions. We’ve referred them to several friends and neighbors, and just hope they don’t become so popular that they can’t fit in our next project!
