Scope of work: Complete remodeling of our small bathroom in the hallway, from tract-home quality to high-end. Val was recommended to us by the kitchen cabinet designer at Cabinets and Beyond in San Mateo. I initially talked to 4 contractors. One missed three on-site appointments (including a no-show); one refused to provide references and expressed annoyance at the small size of the project; and the third was a fast-talker who ducked our questions and never submitted an estimate. Val, by contrast, gave a timely and well thought-through itemized estimate. His price was in-line with the market. He answered our questions, and provided us with contacts of his previous clients when requested. I visited their homes, and was very impressed with the workmanship. His previous clients had nothing but great comments about his work. A man of few words, Val always has a good-natured smile on his face. I was a little concerned in the beginning about his English language ability and whether that would get in the way of communication. As it turned out, we did sometimes have to explain something a few different ways. But he never second-guessed us. And the less-than-the-fastest communication was more than made up for with the outcome of his work. We are so glad that we chose Val. He and his assistant always discussed and planned their process before they started. They did not rush. They are knowledgeable and detail-oriented. They returned calls, answered questions, alerted us to possible problems, and worked cooperatively with us on scheduling. Val gave advice on what is his expertise – the construction and price consequence of each aesthetic alternative we were considering. What we appreciated the most was the pleasant experience of a sense of smooth collaboration when working with Val and his assistant. They are even tempered, and never once expressed condescension or annoyance towards us. Then when the work was done...Wow! What superb workmanship! The tile work was beautifully done, with just the right amount of grout, and tile edges that align harmoniously with the furniture and fixtures. Painting was executed with care and precision. The pocket door hangs perfectly. Val had to drill a hole in a marble sink for the faucet, a challenging task with some risk to the marble which he completed perfectly. We are looking forward to hiring Val again for our larger remodeling project – our kitchen.

Val did a remodel of our kitchen. He knew exactly what he was doing. When a wall we opened up wasn't strong enough due to original construction not being adequate he improvised a brace that looked good and did the job. This was at no extra cost. In fact he was always there when he said he would be and project was done on time and within original budget. We were impressed by his honesty and integrity. He will be doing our bathroom and laundry room in 2015. He was the opposite of the contractors we heard about in horror stories of remodels we heard about from friends.

Master-V performed an outstanding job remodeling my bathrooms. The project included walls demolition, new plumbing, electrical work, all new appliances and addition of a bathtub. The contractor was solid technically, diligent, used latest and most appropriate materials to have right balance between time of the project and money invested. There was no scope creep and extra money requested. Everything was built based on the original estimates and agreements. Specially, I liked how they freed-up my time with city inspectors. All city inspections were done at one shot and without any issues. Master-V built trust with the city inspectors and the second bathroom inspection was done in less steps. I strongly recommend Master-V for your projects. In fact, I am planning to continue with them for other rooms remodeling.
