Odyssey Contracting

I'd rate Odyssey Contracting 0 stars if I could. In early 2019, Odyssey replaced the shingles on my roof due to wind and hail damage. I will admit that the contract provided a 3 year warranty and it is a little over 4 years since the job. However, I was recently on the roof repairing some trim and noticed a depressed area on the porch roof. Upon further inspection, I saw the the OSB under the shingles was water damaged (rotted) in a small area. I called the local office (Garner, NC) telling them that I believed that this was a workmanship issue. Either the damaged wood was there when they reshingled or they did not install the new shingles, etc correctly and caused a leak path. The office manager repeatedly responded that they would do nothing because the warranty was for 3 years and there was no proof that it was a workmanship issue. (Well the roof didn't have an issue in that area or any other for 18.5 years before they reshingled!!) I invited her to send out someone to evaulate the issue. She repllied there would be a charge for that. I asked to speak to her manager repeatedly only to be told "I am the office manager". I had Sean's phone (her manager) and email address so I called him twice and sent him an email explaining the situation. It has been a week with no response. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! SHODDY WORK WHICH THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND!!!! Other companies offer 5 years warranties and do better work.

This review deals with my experience hiring Odyssey Contracting to re-roof our house and install new fascia and gutters. The good: 1) The representative I worked with, Caleb, did a tremendous job helping to navigate the insurance claim process and communicate about billing, products, and problems. He was available, clear, earnest, and professional. 2) The owner, Sean, was also very determined to have the job done right and even came out on site one day to oversee the project as problems were resolved. Sean also apologized for the mistakes his crews made and compensated me for the time I had to spend dealing with issues that arose. That shows integrity, and it’s the way people should do business! The bad: 1) It took at least 4 different attempts over the course of 3 weeks to provide us with a non-leaking roof. (It’s good now.) 2) The fascia painters spilled white paint on our new shingles, and when I asked them to fix it, they painted over those spots in black paint, which resulted in a visible defect. (Odyssey replaced these shingles at no cost.) 3) Either the gutter or fascia crew trampled several bushes at our house. (Odyssey paid a landscaper to replace these.) 4) When a siding board had to be patched, an employee used spray foam, which he painted in the rain, resulting in a noticeably ugly board and paint running down on the new flashing. (Odyssey replaced both the affected boards and the flashing at no cost.) All in all, I’m happy with the finished product—the roof, siding, and gutters truly look great—but not the process it took to arrive at it. But I’ll give Odyssey this: they didn’t run from their mistakes; they made them right.

Odyssey did a full roof replacement for me. Excellent work! Fast thorough and correct. I’m in construction and would recommend to anyone!

Fantastic customer service! Sean Holmes, owner/representative, was extremely responsive and engaged from start to finish of our project. We couldn’t be happier with the process of working with Odyssey and with their completed work. We had several roofing companies look at our roof, before choosing Odyssey. We were immediately impressed with Sean who was personable and friendly. He did an extremely detailed inspection, taking a number of pictures to show us damage we were unaware of and which was significant. He advised us to contact our insurance company to submit a claim (hadn’t realized we could do that!), then made sure to be there when the adjustor arrived. Our roof was a bit more complicated than some, as we had three skylights that needed replacing and wanted to add two more skylights, a solar tube, and a roof ridge. Odyssey took all this on, and even went the extra mile in helping us select and order the right skylights. Before starting work, Sean made extra-sure everything needed was on-site. Then, on roofing day, Odyssey’s work crew showed up prepared and within the day had finished absolutely EVERYTHING perfectly. Follow up was immediate, including giving us info and invoices needed to complete our insurance claim. Frankly, this might be the best experience we’ve ever had in working with a contractor.

Our neighbor was having a repair done on his roof and the contractor noticed ours was damaged as well. With Odyssey's help, roof was replaced and paid for by my insurance company. I did not realize that we had wind and hail damage or that the stain inside was due to a roof leak. I am overall pretty happy with the work they did. The roof looks great. There were a few minor hiccups as to be expected when dealing with a contracting company but the owner made sure everything was taken care of promptly. My only issue is having so many people involved, at one time I think I explained the same issue to 3-4 people. But like I said, everything was taken care of to my satisfaction, it would just be easier if the homeowner could deal with one person. I'm new to home ownership so maybe this is how it goes usually, but it was a little frustrating. Tim and Danny are both great guys to work with. Tim always answered the phone even after hours; that is very appreciated. Like I said, overall a real good group to work with.

Absolutely amazing. Timmy walked us through the process, came after hours to be flexible with our work schedules and was readily available for us throughout the process. The work looks wonderful and was done in one day, which made it that much better. They did a great job cleaning up and keeping the job contained. Love the color options too! Highly recommend for anyone looking to have their roof repaired/replaced. 10 stars.

This was a super smooth process and the roof looks great. Sean is super professional and I have recommended him to all of my friends and family. He was recommended to me and he absolutely deserves the great reputation he's building. This job was for my personal house and the process of picking out the roof and getting everything paid for was very well explained and straightforward. This crew works efficiently and fast and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again on any of my other projects.
