We had spent several months with overpriced estimates and meeting with contractors who were simply not interested in taking on our project. When we finally found Jay and Seagull Construction, it was so refreshing to finally have someone who responded promptly to our messages, answered our calls, responded to our concerns, and was genuinely interested in making our vision become a reality. When Jay and his crew began work in our home right after the Thanksgiving holiday, he knew how hopeful we were that the work would be completed prior to Christmas. As skeptical as we were that this would be possible, Jay was true to his word, and we celebrated the holiday with our friends and family in our beautiful new living and dining room space. We are so very grateful to Jay and crew for a job well done and helping us to create the living space we have dreamed of for so long!

Seagull did a phenomenal job for my remodeling project. I contacted them to briefly discuss the project and they sent someone within the day to come check it out. The designing was then done very briefly and they started on the work. Overall, they did a great job at every step.

Jay is an exception to the "contractor rule." We had a pretty in-depth ADU project—one that involved converting a very dilapidated garage into something nice for our in-laws to help us with a coming newborn. After quoting us a very reasonable price and explaining to him the tight time constraints (the baby was due soon), Jay set out very very quickly to conduct a huge group of workers—scheduling them with the coordination and precision of an aircraft tower controller. Even when unforeseen curveballs came up, out of his control, he was still extremely communicative, fair, and always positive. The last attribute was incredibly important as my wife was very pregnant during half of the construction and we had a newborn baby during the other half. We needed all the positivity we could get. Jay and his crew (whom we got to know...not just a random cast of strangers) filled nearly every day of possible construction with work—despite this being one of the wettest winters on record. He and his guys were respectful of our very specific wishes (keeping certain trees, installing services in certain places, and more), even when I know it made things difficult for him and his team. In fact, Jay seemed to relish the challenge! He hired almost exclusively tradesmen—another rarity in the contractor world—meaning the work was done very fast and with great skill. Not just random guys "figuring it out" as they went. Jay was on site multiple times each week, even though it was far from his home base. And as a result of his presence, our questions were always answered, our requests were always heeded, and the project never got off track or needed redos/change orders. We always felt like we were his only project, even though I know we were not. His presence on our property was a big part of this season of our lives, and we will actually miss him. The end result is a building that exceeded our wildest dreams, went well and above the original plans, and has every detail completely buttoned up. Nothing was left dangling or done with haste—despite the fact that he did the unthinkable and finished a beautiful 650sq ft. garage conversion (that became a complete ground-up build due to things outside of everyone's control) in three months. He hit our nearly impossible timeline target and simultaneously produced something that all of our neighbors are amazed to see on our property. We will be using Jay exclusively for any and all other home projects—our only hope is that he doesn't become too popular once the word gets out! We are so lucky to have Jay as our General Contractor. He is amazing to work with. Even before signing the contract with him, he already helped us creating a list of things for us to do or gather so as soon as construction started, all the major material were readily available onsite. He always replied to our questions immediately and went above and beyond to ensure our happiness and satisfaction. During the 4 months of our remodeling project, his crews only missed one day due to illness, otherwise they were on site rain or shine. Jay worked very well with city inspectors so our project was compliant and went smoothly. Jay and his team delivered the project in 4 months as contracted! Unheard of, right? I can keep going and going with all the positive experiences that we had with Seagull Constructions and Development. Seagull Construction with Jay as the project manager did a great job on my house. I chose Seagull after two prior company's estimates. Although their bid was somewhat higher, Jay was proficient in explaining what and how they would do the job. Her workers were friendly, helpful and skilled. I had the popcorn ceilings removed and the whole house painted. They removed the carpet, inspected the old hardwood floors, but because of their condition, new hardwood floors was installed. They also remodeled my old fireplace surround by removing the old sixties stones and replace with new stack stones. Although I had to move out for this project, Jay arranged for movers and storage while they prepare to do the work. And when it was completed they moved me back in. The work started the day after I signed the contract and was completed on time. I highly recommend this company.

Jay was able to come in and complete my total house rebuild after my original contractor botched the job entirely, left everything half finished, and stole nearly the entire sum of the contract. Jay's prices are extremely fair, and he was at the house everyday and every step of the way. It was such a relief to have him finish up the mess that was left me, and I am now so happy with all the work that he successfully finished. Thanks so much Jay. You are the absolute best!

Seagull built our ADU. From start to finish the experience was superb. Jay is excellent at communicating. He kept us updated along the whole process. The project was done on time, which I understand is unusual in construction. I've seen referred him to a couple of people who also have had positive experiences. You would be lucky to hire him!

We worked extensively with Jay on a major house renovation involving a new kitchen, facade, and interior reconfiguration. Jay is motivated, responsive and professional. He's available to answer questions in a positive and friendly manner, and wants to make sure you're satisfied with the work. He works with the trades and so your plumbing, electrical etc. are all done by pros in their fields. I would absolutely recommend Jay for your home reno.
