When we finally purchased our dream home in Santa Fe, we knew there was only one builder we wanted to work with to improve our property. We've followed Gerry Barber - Madera Builder's work for a number of years via the Santa Fe Parade of Homes, and there is good reason they are consistently recognized for outstanding work. We contracted with Gerry to address a myriad set of issues, including: repairing flood damage & solving extensive drainage problems, replacing exterior rotted beams and posts; building walls to create new outdoor living space, and a myriad set of other details over several phases. You won't find a more conscientious, honest, ethical and reliable builder than Gerry Barber. From initial scoping and cost estimating, through managing the project, all the way to completion, Gerry kept us well informed and the project on track even though we've been out of state. Nothing on our wish list has proven to be either to complex, to large or to small for the Madera Builders team. Not only are they highly competent professionals who are attentive to 'getting it done right', they are also very helpful with suggestions and finding alternatives, they truly exhibit care in the quality of their work, and they treat the job site as if they were working on their own property. Everyone with Madera has been a delight to work with. We plan to post photos once we catch our breath. We couldn't be more delighted with our choice, and I can recommend this company without any reservation or hesitation.

We selected Gerry Barber and his company Madera Builders for an interesting reason -- we were looking for a larger house in the Taos area, and fell in love with the house he had built, was living in and was selling. We preferred an area a few miles away, and after we bought that land and meeting with Gerry, decided to have him build a house much like the one he had. With the help of Gerry and his wife, we even made what we think were improvements over the design he had (such as a half wall between the kitchen area and the great room). Gerry first familiarized himself with the ten acres, and then was very helpful in working with the local Taos permit folks and putting the house and the casita in areas where we took advantage of the great views. Gerry and his crew (particularly Reggie, his foreman) were terrific -- they kept us informed, made excellent suggestions for improvements (such as walls around both houses, solar electricity, radiant heating, and a design which captured much of the water coming off the roofs into a cistern, which we use for irrigation), and when we couldn't be in Taos, Gerry and Reggie would send us photos of what had been done. They finished when they said they would, and then came by for fix the little things that needed work. They even went to another house we had in the area and brought over some of the furniture we had there, and let us borrow some of Gerry's extra furniture. If I could figure out Houzz, I'd send you some photos of the final product -- it is spectacular.

I cannot tell you how wonderful Gerry and his crew have been to us! We bought a home in Santa Fe, NM, and needed to do a little remodeling. Long distance remodeling can be a huge headache, but NOT with Madera Builders. They are professional and just an amazing group of people. Gerry had the can do attitude. A lot of builders will tell you, "oh , I dont think we can do that", or "oh, my, not sure that can happen"....NOT Gerry...he had the what ever you want to do "can happen" attitude. His guys even came up and helped me unpack boxes one day. Their work is amazing. First class. I will include photos when we are finished. I am looking forward to using Madera on other projects in the coming years!

Madera Builders LLC undertook a series of major projects for us, including a new garage, portal, remodeled old garage into a studio space, and kitchen remodel. We could not be more pleased with the entire construction process and final results. The project was managed superbly, from initial cost estimates and adjustments to meet our budget, through construction and real-time modifications of our architectural plans for overall project improvement, to final details and clean-up. We were kept informed nearly continuously about next-steps and activities as work progressed, and scheduling of workers was maximized to sequence construction with very little down-time waiting on materials or labor. All required state and county inspections passed on initial visits, resulting in no project delays. A combination of high-quality materials and craftsmanship are hallmarks of Madera Builders, a fact clearly reflected in the final completed project. The owner of Madera Builders, LLC, Gerry Barber, and all of his project personnel, were an absolute pleasure to work. We would not hesitate to call upon Madera Builders again, and enthusiastically recommend them to anyone needing high quality new home construction or remodeling.

Madera Builders, LLC provided outstanding service and a finished renovation for my 1940's adobe home while managing the project across more than 5000 miles. I highly recommend Gerry Barber and his team; as proof, we subsequently undertook the renovation of our guest house and we are about to begin a third project. I purchased my home in 2011 and undertook the renovations while residing in Geneva, Switzerland. Gerry and I quickly established an effective relationship while working in person, such that I felt we could manage this million-dollar renovation. Gerry formed an effective team with my architect, Lorn Tryk (Lorn Trky Architects, PC) and our kitchen designer, Joan Viele (Kitchen Dimensions) having not previously worked with them. We used all modern means of communication and several brief visits to progress the work. Lorn was also frequently on-site, as an additional set of eyes, and he and Gerry often presented joint proposals for solutions. Like most renovations, it's what is not known or visible that presents the biggest challenge. In this case, the city ordinance for the electrical code caused much more work than we were absolutely certain of at the beginning, and turned a five-room project (swap kitchen and dinning rooms, master bath, relocate the laundry room) and exterior living space into an entire home renovation. These challenges were discussed transparently, options and drawings were presented via email, and we successfully managed through this and each subsequent issue. The renovation entailed restoring any affected parts and installing our selected new materials. Our foreman, Mark, provided excellent supervision of the various trades and kept us well informed of progress and proposed solutions to unexpected issues. The most impressive aspect of Madera Builders is their relationship with highly qualified tradesmen. Every detail was carefully completed to an impeccable standard and with a lasting quality, including several first-of-a-kind installations. Our home and guesthouse are a delight, thanks to Madera Builders.

My remodel experience with Gerry Barber and his team was absolutely the very best that my wife, Mona, and I have ever experienced. Most generally, remodels can be a very stressful ordeal at best. His team was always courteous and professional. Gerry was able to get the very best craftsmen in each given trade. Dee Bangert and Mike Hall were both the most conscientious in their respective duties. Mona and I couldn't be more pleased with the whole project.
