2020 was a tough year for a lot of us and if there is one of the few good things that happened, it was choosing Shane Homes as our builder for our new home. As a first time homebuyer, we thought buying a house and working with a builder is scary on a time of pandemic and uncertainties. However, Shane Homes made it such a stress-free journey. Shane Homes delivered their promise of building you a home while you’re sitting in the comfort of your current home. All is possible using their virtual tours, virtual identity verification, all the way to the virtual signing of documents. My wife and I could only be grateful for having a beautiful home as much as we have imagined it to look like in the beginning. You’re buying not only the value and quality of the house but the total homebuilding experience from a chat on their facebook ads, then to a facetime call with the wonderful salesteam in Legacy, Laurier and Satwinder, to the selections with their suppliers we’ve worked with along the process, and all the way to the solid craftmanship of the tradespeople. My wife and I could only recommend Shane Homes to all our family and friends and will definitely use the same service in the future. The whole team has exceeded our expectations. Kudos Legacy Team!

I would not recommend Shane homes. They use low quality products and garbage trades people who don't care about quality. I purchased one of their Hillcrest town houses, 4 years in and the paint is cracking, tile backsplash in the kitchen are cracking, entry doors don't close properly, paint quality is garbage, appliances are garbage. Everytime it rains or if my neighbours water their lawn a lake forms in my backyard. 90% of my light switches have either sanding marks or paint on them that cannot be removed.

Our building experience with Shane Homes was excellent and especially with our sales rep, Jeff Luif in Nolan Hill. We built a bungalow which was the first one that Shane had built in quite some time we were told. We redesigned the original plans to our likely and after many drafts came up with our personal design. Whenever an issue arose it was dealt with quickly but there were few. The home was built in 5 months and our upgrades were limited since Shane Homes has quality standard products. All deadlines were met and on budget. The design center was great and we enjoyed choosing all our products from the different supplies. We found Shane Homes to be very fair and reasonable in pricing and now that we are in the home the quality is excellent. We would recommend Shane Homes to any buyer.

I bought a new house in cougar ridge six years ago from Shane home. I'm surprised to know the under mount kitchen sink dropped down from granite top . I have to take a closer look the sink . It was mounted to counter top by few points silicone glue. The house warranty is expired for years ago. I don't know how to deal with this.

Leading people on
they have made an offer to us at 440 then week later increased it to 454 saying head office had to approve it. then dont let your area manager in Hillcrest make an offer. this leads people on.
No customer service, didn't even have guts to show up and offer explanation. or even called.
this was just such turn off.
their explanation was that how everyone does business, so not true (excel and McKee totally opposite)
only difference on our quote was that first on had 65K discount while other on had only 55K.
just don't believe anything they say.

Buy from Shane Homes if you want to be taken for a ride because all they care about is your money from the moment you walk in.
Home value: $500,000.00+
We have owned our home for 6 months now and have had issues since day one. We were guaranteed to customize our home to however we liked and we had the drawings approved and everything was wonderful. When it came to the actual building, they told us it was not possible and there was nothing we could do about it. Until we continuously escalated the matter to management they finally decided to accommodate us for something they already signed off on and promised.
After a couple days of moving in, we realized that the layout for the door was not corrected and was causing a dent on our fridge. We took off the door knob and brought this to their attention, the issue was mentioned during our final walk through that it needed to be corrected. Problem was not corrected and we moved in. No response for 3 months even though we constantly asked and called for an update. Finally, during our 3 month walk through (which was 1 month late) the technician came in and we brought the issue back to life once more. After 2 months of getting the parts in, we finally had a technician come back to fix the door.
The first week we moved in, a City of Calgary inspector came in gave us a notice that we were illegally living in our home because it had not passed the final inspection due to the smoke detector and the furnace. I later find out that we were pushed to take possession early because Shane Homes wanted to meet their year end numbers. What kind of company jeopardizes people's lives because they want to meet year end?
Now, this is our first winter, and we have found a wet spot in the corner of our master bed room, away from the ensuite. We always turn the fan on when we shower and we even wipe our windows so that the condensation does not ruin walls. We called and spoke with the technician and they gave us an excuse saying we did not turn on the fan and turn down our humidity. I called him on this bluff because as soon as it was below 0 we turned our humidity down to 5 (which is below what is required). He promised that a technician will come in to take a look because it is still within our 1 year warranty, but instead I got an ignorant email from their office saying that they were going to do nothing about it because we caused heavy humidity within our home. We brought a friend that is a build in to ask for their expert advice and they said this is due to the wax panel being misplaced.
We are so shocked and frustrated, we have no words to describe what a painful experience this has been. Sadly, we have already made this mistake and hope that this will help any future buyers want to purchase a home from this horrible company.

I am building my house in Redstone Calgary, AB with Shane Homes.
In the beginning I was very happy but I don't like Shane home any more.
Shane homes gives you price grantee but I found it is just a joke.
I talked to Area Manager up to the president but no one try to take any action everyone is trying to pass the time.
My price would be $406036 for a 1554 SQf house ( before extension and upgrade)
Now a days the price of the same model house on the same lot (1554SQF) is only $ 380000 but they are not giving me price difference.
They just trying to explain me the hose base price is still the same.
First of all the Lot price never changes according to the builder.
If lot price remain same how come new customer paying less amount then what I will pay for same model of house in the same area and same home next to me.
I have already paid 5% to builder.
I don't know what else I can do to get the solution.
Please advise me....
Thank you
A Redstone customer (Calgary, AB)

I actually was a client of Satwinder Notay's at Shane Homes and I don't understand the previous reviewers message! Nothing could be further from the truth. She was super organized and on top of everything. Most organized person Ive ever met! We also developed a basement suite and she was the one that gave us all the information about how to properly build a legal suite. There were things we could and couldn't do and Satwinder educated us, went above and beyond and who knows what these other people were trying to build in their obviously ILLEGAL SUITE!

We decided to buy a house with Shane because of the great customer service initially provided by our Area Sales Manager, Ronn Kenn. Unfortunately after signing the contract, he resigned. And then came our unfortunate experiences with this company. Satwinder Notay took over - personal feedback : poor customer service, unfocused, poor record management.
We requested for change of Area Manager because of this unpleasant experience and we are worried that more problems will arise. Unfortunately, our request was not granted. Our request was due to poor after sales service we are getting and the confidence that we have for Satwinder is gradually deteriorating.
Now we are facing a problem again. It was clearly discussed during the pre-signing - we need a house which the basement we can use as a rental property. A legal suite. For this reason that even if it will entail a relatively bigger cost, we chose a walk out lot in New Brighton. It was emphasized several times, we need a door from basement to main floor so the basement occupants cant freely access the main floor. First meeting with Satwinder when she informed me about Ronn's resignation, I personally asked, among others, about the door and verified the location of the door. She pointed out where. During our first walk through last February 25, 2016, I was looking for that door. The Project Manager advised us with the presence of Satwinder, they will review the paper works.
Rob , the General Sales Manager, initially sent an email to us, giving assurance there should not be a problem installing the door to meet our requirement, we shall just pay an additional amount. However, a week after Rob and Satwinder sent me emails advising us they cannot install the door anymore because it wont pass the building inspection. We told them this could have been told to us before pre-signing. Another email was sent by Satwinder last Friday (March 4) that they will frame for a new door now but will install the door after possession. We sent a reply, if the door cannot be installed now because of some issues in passing the city inspection, whats the difference in installing after our possession. As a homebuyer, we want to ensure that the house that will be turned over to us meets our requirements, had passed the building codes of Canada , not defective and we will not face issues with safety and with insurance purposes. We are waiting for their email reply on this concerns.
We signed up with Shane Homes, trusting and believing that the company is one of the reputable builders, hoping that all matters will be dealt professionally and with full transparency. We trusted that we were given quality output. We trusted that we will have a pleasant experience. We are still holding to that expectations despite several headaches we experienced in the process.
In all fairness, we had good experience with our dealings with Ronn, our first Sales Manager, the main reason why we decided to sign up with Shane Homes. We had a pleasant experience with our Interior Designer, Catriona. Frustrations are primarily since took over Satwinder. Unfortunately, she is our first contract now . And any misdealings with her surely has great impact in the process.
We signed up with Shane as a customer , and not to be a record manager of our own files . Several times that when we need to verify something, usual feedback from Satwinder " I will be having problem with the access of your files at the office because of my laptop, can you send your own file to me ". An Area Manager with dysfunctional access to customer's files? We find this is alarming.
We hope that our concern will be dealt by Shane Shane Homes and we will be advised accordingly soon. Our possession date is scheduled May 17, 2016 from April 28 (original schedule).

Process was flawless from start to finish. The design center is fantastic - Breanna was very helpful. Sly was a great help during our walk through and quickly fixed the few deficiencies we found.
