She then provided a clear concise plan which included options that were the perfect combination of our style, her suggestions and great/budget friendly solutions to some tricky decorating challenges that we were up against. Having never enlisted the help of a designer, I found Mary to be an absolute pleasure to work with. She's a great communicator and was able to come up with a creative design to renovate a very, very small master bath. My goal was not only to modernize it, but to make the bathroom safe and comfortable as I age in place. Once the layout was established, it was easy to work with Mary to fine tune fixture and tile choices. Her attention to detail is excellent and my contractor was very complimentary about the drawings and product information Mary provided. The renovation is set to begin in a few weeks and I cannot wait to see everything come together. Once it is complete, I'll provide additional feedback. Mary is an incredible designer who transformed my home beautifully! She helped create a gorgeous kitchen with a stunning tile backsplash, suggested unique wallpaper for the home office and powder room, and selected a paint palette that ties the entire first floor together perfectly with the flooring and staircases. I have worked with Mary Young both professionally and personally. Professionally I managed, prior to retiring, an office park for a major bank with four buildings and 1,000 employees. Mary was thorough and professional through every design project we worked on together. I am credentialed interior designer, like Mary, and recently used her for a design project in our family room because we desired custom cabinetry w/ tv above fireplace but with grandchildren in our care a few days/ week, I found my time limited to plan and get installed by holiday time. On contacting Mary, she advised she had the contractor who she brought on-board for the project. The finished project is a spectacular fireplace wall w/ lighting and etched door glass on lower cabinetry. Stunning!

Mary Young, owner of 309design, helped us with a bathroom project in our 1943 home. As skilled do-it-yourselfers, this was our first time working with a designer. Mary carefully listened to our goal of creating a contemporary bathroom that would blend with the style in our home. We were introduced to products we were previously unaware of but that were perfect, and to our contractor, B Lawrence Homes, who was terrific. Based on work we had done ourselves over the years, we expected project surprises, but uncovering 3 layers of wall tile completely changed things. We went from tile preservation to rethinking walls, the vanity and floor. Mary helped us work with the contractor to navigate the materials and color changes and turned what was a real challenge into a feature. The new bathroom and serene colors complement and coordinate with other rooms in the house. It was fun working with someone who understood when we wanted to do our own research on certain aspects of the project but who was always there to provide guidance. Mary’s Masters in Interior Design is reflected in her skill and creativity in designing a visually appealing space with components work well together. 309design turned what might have been a so-so bathroom upgrade into a beautiful, functional room.

I highly recommend Mary of 309 Designs. She played an integral part of our kitchen renovation from planning to execution. Mary did an amazing job coming up with multiple ideas to maximize our space. Mary took on our design project when no one else would. We did a first floor renovation which included full kitchen and living space renovation, removal of load bearing posts, an addition, and a master bathroom renovation. Mary helped us find a great general contractor after several month of struggling to find a GC who wanted the job. She listened and understood our aesthetics and made design plans consistent with those. I was easily overwhelmed by choices, so Mary did a great job of offering a limited number of options. She was always responsive to feedback and willing to change directions, find more options, or reconsider a design element. Mary was prompt, on-time and helped keep our project moving. She communicated with our GC and subcontractors. She came by the house and monitored progress. She took care of design elements so that I did not even need to think about them (where exactly the kitchen island should be, how big the couch should be for the space, what size vent hood we needed). I cannot say enough positive things about working with Mary and her work product. I am more than 100% satisfied with her design elements, her decorative elements and our working relationship. I can't imagine that our renovation project would have been nearly as successful and on-time if we had not worked with Mary.

Mary is a miracle worker! She took a room that was an odd shape with a piano in it that could not be moved, and turned it into a warm, inviting and highly functional space with much needed versatility. We loved working with Mary. She came up with a plan that left no doubt that she listened to what we wanted. For the decor, she helped us pick out items that were "us" but incorporated her good taste and knowledge of the industry. Her architect background was super helpful for designing an extra outdoor space that we will incorporate in our next phase of the project . Mary did a wonderful job in created a design for my husband’s new office. She designed custom built in bookcases and did a design for his abundant artwork. She met with me for a free consultation and was up-front and honest about her rates (which I believe are very reasonable, given the quality of work provided) and about potential and very real project costs and worked with me make some changes to the architect's original plans (both in terms of cost saving and beautifying) - Changes that really made all the difference in the world! Mary is an excellent designer and very customer focused. I love the way she prepares her designs and provides concept boards so that you can visualize how your project will look and make it easier to decide on styles, colors, etc. I first hired Mary to help with a special project to reupholster dining room chairs and update a China cabinet which were my mothers. Her work was beautiful and meticulous and turned out better than I imaged. She also helped update our bathroom and living room.

Mary, did an excellent job in developing a color palette to paint the downstairs of my home. My painting project starts June 29th and I couldn’t decide on colors. I needed a color consultant ASAP. She came over the same day I spoke with her on the phone. The colors she picked out are gorgeous! She expertly knew which colors would go best in a room. She also explained why certain colors would or wouldn’t work. Mary is very knowledgeable and I learned about making color choices. I can’t wait to see the final results. I am very happy! We cannot say enough positive things about our experience with Mary. We started an extensive house renovation in January 2020. The renovation included: a new kitchen, 2 new bathrooms, lower-level change of floor plan, transforming a half bath in a full bath, and new hardwood floors. We recently completed a full kitchen remodel and family room update and had the pleasure of working with Mary Young of 309design. We're absolutely thrilled with the end result! So I was skeptical about hiring a designer. We were already spending so much money. But honestly I was amazed at the level of detail and the sourcing she provided. Like who would of thought of a lighting plan? She is really focused on creating and helping you put your ideas and visions together. My husband and I had some idea of what we wanted but couldnt really put it down on paper. Mary delivered. We will be using her again for further rennovations and additions.

Mary Young recently helped us with replacement curtains for windows in our living room, dining room and bedroom, and with selection of paint colors for our kitchen and adjacent powder room and laundry room. It was a pleasure to work with Mary. She was very responsive to our preferences, and gave us great advice as to colors and styles that coordinated with our taste and existing decor.

We absolutely made the right choice when we selected Mary Young to assist us with a facelift for our condo. She listened carefully to what we wanted to accomplish before making her suggestions. They included clever arrangements of display items, new decorative throw pillows, several changes in lampshades, and a rearrangement in the entrance hall with something special which we’d been searching for that she found for us! We asked her to do the shopping and she agreed to that. Over a period of a couple of months, Mary found beautiful throw pillows that added so much to the room. She spent a lot of time bringing a variety of lampshades in and out till we all agreed on just the right ones for a number of lamps. The entrance hall was transformed as was the computer area.
