Allison Smith Design

My experience with Allison Smith Design and her team were amazing! From beginning to end (well we are almost done.). This is my 3rd home that Allison has done, and really it has been life changing for us each time. This time we bought a 1962 Spanish style "fixer" and she saw my vision right off the bat. Then she added her expertise and amazing talent for design and made our home simply beautiful. From the colors on the walls, to where the coffee pot goes, to new dining furniture she is always spot on! In addition, her staff is very detailed oriented and returns calls and emails promptly. In fact, they often call me before I have had a chance to call them with a question. I would highly recommend Allison Smith Design to anyone who is looking to do a remodel project or in the market for new furniture. You will not be disappointed.

Allison has decorated two homes for my husband and me. When we hired her the first time, we’d just moved from a tiny, old bungalow to a large, new European-style home and had no clue how to make the transformation. On our latest home (a new Craftsman-style), we had a tight turn around—we were expecting houseguests in just a few weeks and there was a lot to do. We were extremely pleased with the results on both occasions. Not only is Allison a very talented decorator with great taste, but she’s also a genuinely kind person, responsive, a good listener, and quick to nail the customer’s style. We love how she's used what we already owned in a fresh, new way. The pieces she's added have been good quality and reasonably priced. Plus she's saved us from a few costly mistakes. She's a 10!

Allison totally remodeled my kitchen. She had great ideas, took charge of getting all of the contractors and seeing that all of the work was done in a timely fashion. We would still be living with my out-of-date kitchen if not for Allison. We had the lowered ceiling removed, a wall taken out, new lighting including under the counter lights, a beautiful backsplash, quartz countertops, new cabinets and hardware, new floor, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave moved to a better location and a new light fixture in the dining area. I’m delighted again to have worked with Alison Smith Design for the design and construction of my new home office. She has taken on a number of design/construction projects at my home, and I have more in mind. I love her passion for innovative design solutions and meticulously overseeing the construction of the design she creates. The experience was just outstanding. Alison knew the transformation I was looking for, and she and her team gave me a design that was far better than I ever imagined it could be. She took an original raw basement space, had walls and a staircase built, new larger windows installed, heat, and lighting installed by working closely with her preferred construction crew Right Arm Construction and other contractors. Among her many attributes, one thing that sets Alison distinctly apart, is her Color Seasons custom paint line with 64 proprietary colors. I’ve had a number of rooms painted from her line made from Pratt & Lambert base, and the compliments are endless. For this project, the walls and ceiling are a light turquoise, with window & baseboard trim. The original cement floor became the absolute star of the project, with her brilliant solution to have it buffed, stained and polished similar to a light commercial finish you’d see at a retail boutique. It’s now a smooth stone floor in a stunning green color like malachite. This is a very well-managed and very well-run company. Alison hires top tier and dedicated staff and I appreciated their depth of experience they brought to the project as well. She takes great pride in every step of her work, something you don't usually find. I am very proud of the job Alison did in transforming my basement with the design continuity that flows to the rest of the home. I recommend Alison Smith Design without hesitation, to friends regularly. I am very happy with my latest project from Alison, and will hire her again.

FIVE STAR EXPERIENCE What an absolute honor it has been to work with Allison Smith Design again. A few months ago, we purchased a vacation home in Scottsdale, AZ. We knew exactly who we would trust to remodel and transform our dated 1980’s home into a bold, modern and inviting sanctuary. Part of the creative process was sharing my inspiration boards with Allison which allowed her to create a space that reflects and embodies our personality and taste. The architectural revisions she made in the kitchen really opened up the space and provided the open concept we were looking for. Her ability to solve problems when issues arose was quick, effective and intuitive. We absolutely love all the materials, colors, textures and finishes that Allison chose. The combination of the neutral travertine floors against the rich grey cabinets is stunning. The stark white walls allow the dark beams in the ceiling to be the star player. Her attention to detail throughout the home from the paint colors, lighting, window treatments, plumbing fixtures down to the hardware, every detail was meticulously selected to achieve a cohesive, stimulating and inviting and space. Allison reinvigorated our home with all new furniture. The combination of supple leathers, textured fabrics, rich woods and unique statement pieces that really give the home an artisan flair. It’s not just inside that counts, she also brought life to our outdoor space by creating a serene oasis for us to escape and relax. Allison and her team are incredibly responsive, truly talented, friendly and dedicated to giving their clients not only a beautiful home but a wonderful experience while creating it. This is my third "decorating with what you own" experience with Allison Smith Design. I keep coming back with good reason. Allison has a rare quality for organizing and managing the wide-ranging personalities of sub-contractors needed for each project. She takes on problems with an eye for possible solutions, while keeping the project moving along according to plan. The most important aspect of a re-model from the owner point of view is no surprises. Allison intercepts, mitigates and fixes problems, then shares the funny aspects of the story once all is well again. She and her team communicate clearly, regularly and impeccably.

I had a wonderful experience using the services of Allison Smith Design for the complete renovation of my New York City apartment. Allison and her entire team were 100% client focused and took care of all details from "soup to nuts". I didn't have to worry about anything, because Allison's team coordinated all contractors, furniture companies, etc. Allison really listens to her clients and is inspired by her clients' own unique preferences. As you can see from previous work, her experience is quite varied and adaptable to any situation she is presented with...corporate, residential and city apartment living. I was impressed with Allison's attention to detail and her pure design talent, creativity and innate love for design. She really enjoys the work that she does so well!

We totally enjoyed working with Allison and her various crews on a kitchen remodel in 2013...so much that she is about to start a second remodel project for us this month on two bathrooms, the fireplace tile and eventually replacing the carpet. She is so easy to work with and incorporates our thinking and style with her expertise and we end up loving what she does. We trusted her so much that we left the country during the first remodel-and had one only email from her during that time (would we like her to select our kitchen hardware-YES)! We came back thoroughly satisfied and highly recommend Allison!

We hired Allison and her staff to do a complete kitchen remodel and sun room addition to our 1910 farmhouse. She has a great ability to identify the needs and wishes of her clients and the planning produced exactly the desired result. We couldn't be happier with the outcome. Her attention to detail was amazing and all the minor problems and issues (normal on a project of this scope) were dealt with promptly and to our absolute satisfaction. Would recommend her highly and will certainly employ her on any future projects.

I used Allison Smith to renovate my NYC apartment and she delivered beyond expectations. My apartment turned out so nice that it has been featured in international design magazines. Allison has an amazing eye and is really good at assessing your style and making sure what she delivers is something you will love. She is very thorough and was great about communicating any changes and staying within budget. When I sold my NYC apartment the value went up significantly due to the renovations she recommended (i.e. kitchen/bathroom). I'd attribute making $50K more than I paid due to the amazing renovation she did. I'm hoping to have her help design a house I'm buying in Austin, Texas but she's becoming so well-known she's getting hard to book!

We've worked with Allison Smith and her team on several of her projects as the General Contractor. The projects go smoothly due to her team and knowledge of interior design and how the construction phase fits in. The clients we've worked with on these projects are always kept up to date with the project timelines, budgets and processes.
