BARBARA has amazing taste and vision. She has helped me carry out a total renovation of my home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her ability to create a design plan that reflects my taste, values and personality is outstanding. She is extremely professional without being arrogant and has communicated clearly during the entire renovation period of one year. She has been able to work both here and from NY with my builders. They think very highly of her communication and direction. Barbara can create out of the box and is at her best with editing a client's possessions to achieve an original yet personal space that is not cluttered. I cannot speak more highly of her ability to design a home that perfectly expresses her clients with taste and originality.

I began to work with Barbara shortly after we began to remodel our new house in Purchase, New York. In her professional capacity she did the following: chose and supervised the paint colors, inside and out; chose the stain for the wood floors; chose carpet and window treatments; worked in partnership with the architect on the bathroom layouts, the lighting fixtures, the kitchen island. In addition to having impeccable taste, Barbara is conscientious, resourceful, and imaginative. She is willing to "go the extra mile", which is one case meant driving to an artisan's studio in Williamsburg to see her lighting fixtures and choose one for my living room. This visit resulted in a stunning fixture that was 1/5th the price of one seen and admired earlier. She is also great fun to be with. Do I recommend her? Absolutely!

I used BHS for 3 homes over the past 13 years. Her strengths are exceptional for kitchen and bathroom design. BHS will make any room beautiful as she has a wonderful sense of color and texture and can pick perfect fabrics and carpets. One will never tire of BHS Design choices.

I used Barbara's design services during the renovation of my restaurant in the East Village. Her work is stunning and refined, while maintaining a sense of coziness and accessibility. The space is very old with a lot of charm and rustic beauty. Barbara was able to enhance these qualities, while bringing the restaurant up to date with the perfect amount of modern detailing (subway tiling, beautiful vintage light fixtures, etc.). She gets to know her clients and manages to successfully integrate her own aesthetic sense with their taste to create the perfect, harmonious space.

Barbara is the consummate professional. She has excellent taste but also is sensitive to her client's opinions. She was responsive to my requests. We worked very well together and quickly made decisions the were based on our mutual choices. I appreciate her ability to walk into a room and easily make suggestions that are right on, creative and yet practical. Her crew is composed of outstanding professionals: contractor, upholsterer, wallpaper expert. I used Barbara's design firm to update my home which had had nothing done for 20 years. She selected wall paper, redesigned one room, and replaced wall to wall carpeting and with wooden floors. She selected some critical pieces of furniture and one drop- dead lighting fixture. I know that I am fortunate to have had her guidance for this rather small job that actually had an immense impact and resulted in transforming my home.

I found Barbara Horowitz through Houzz and I could not be happier with her. I asked her to help me finish my living room. She's smart, honest, quick, with very high standards, always willing to go the extra mile to get the best possible result. She has great ideas and will press for them but ultimately knows it's my home. It's been a great working partnership and would highly recommend her!

I found out about Barbara through a wonderful article in the New York Times featuring her amazing talent. I then researched her designs ou Houzz and fell in love with her style. Barbara Horowitz is an extremely talented designer who has creative ideas and follows through on them. She is an artist and is also very practical and has been insistent on making the right choices for our space. We couldn't be happier with everything that BHSDesign accomplished for us.

I have had the pleasure to work with BHSDesign during two separate kitchen projects. The first was my home in CT, and because we were so happy with that transformation, we hired again when we downsized to MA. Barbara is versatile and creative, and was able to accommodate our needs in two very different spaces, with different budgets. Her command of design and eye for function alleviated much of the typical remodeling stress. Probably one of her greatest strengths is how to use space. We picked up both cabinet and countertop space on both projects, without adding additional square footage. Highly recommend.

Barbara did a wonderful job designing and executing the interior for a two-story addition to my home. She listened closely to what we were looking for and gave us wonderful options, both with furniture, window treatments, fabrics, accessories and color. She has an amazing color sense. And she respected our budget. She never tried to push things on us and when we had a strong opinion that might be contrary to her own, she shared her opinions respectfully and professionally. I know more than once she stopped us from going over a cliff. If something came in that wasn't quite right, it was repaired or fixed immediately. Most of all, she was a pleasure to work with -- pleasant, articulate, smart, prepared always.

Barbara Horowitz (BHS Design) has redecorated our home from top to bottom. Barbara brings a combination of a strong sense of color and design matched with great listening skills. She sought to understand how we live in our home to best match the design and furniture to the space. She has been able to actualize our sense of style in a way that we could never have done. She is especially gifted in choosing beautiful fabrics that really "make the space." Barbara is incredibly practical and was also able to bring a lot of value to us. She introduced us to really terrific contractors who have done excellent work at very reasonable prices. What is great is her ability to work at any budget, even in the same project. She was extremely knowledgeable about furnishings across the board, from the jaw-dropping both in price and beauty to options that were surprising reasonable and still great. She made good choices and advised us where it made sense to spend more and where not to. Barbara was never limited by what was in the marketplace. She came up with some custom lighting options, for example, that really worked for us better than anything we saw. I cannot recommend Barbara highly enough. She would be great for a consultation or to redo an entire house.
