Houzz has profiled us on their home page today!! Thanks Houzz! Architectural designer Christina Campbell helps her clients in discovering their own deeper meaning of 'home'. As our culture is swept up in the within our new home improvement - now a whole network devoted to it - it is essential to understand why the surroundings that we call home unknowingly evoke behaviors and emotions. With structures or interiors, what might be attractive and stunning in the moment doesn't necessarily mean long term enjoyment in a dynamic and happy household. Plopping one au courant interior concept atop a different architectural blueprint, does not truly make room for the soul to thrive. We must look at our deeper needs, histories and patterns of living. She found the majority of architects and designers rank only beauty and efficiency as their biggest priorities. She injects an equally important angle. She begins each project from someone's personal and historical perspectives, complete with a questionnaire. After noticing a pattern of enthusiastic architects building their clients' dream homes only to have them spending their time in limited areas of the house or, even winding up spending the majority of the time back at their original condo, she found a critical aspect of design missing. "People have so much positive and negative unconscious emotional baggage in how they really need their home to flow and feel. It's not feng shui. It's one's past and what one strives for in the future. It should be a mirror of the inside of your ideal brain. If it feels fundamentally right, you grow into it to thrive." In building her own home in Austin, she was challenged to peer at her own reflection and shine her investigative spotlight back on herself.
