Custom Decorators

DO NOT WORK WITH CUSTOM DECORATORS. Please - listen to me. This has been the absolute WORST customer service experience, from the designer to the staff at Custom Decorators. My designer sold me blinds that she told me would block light and make my kids room dark and they just don't -- I have a 4 year old and 2 year old who are used to blackout and these do NOT do that. She also left out important information that should have been mentioned to me, noted below. She seemed nice, so I hope I was misled due to her inexperience (do a better job training your designers!!) rather than her wanting the commission off of these high priced blinds (which is what I think was likely the case). Besides the fact that it barely darkens the room, even at night light comes in - one night when there was a police car parked outside (we are located on the 4th floor of our building) his room lit up with the blinds completely closed - he woke up from this! Not to mention the difficulty of getting both my kids down to sleep. The sun also sneaks through the fully closed blinds while I sit at my desk and work - they just don't close all the way and for hours I have sun in my eyes. She also knew I had window AC units and did not advise me that I would not be able to have these blinds in the open filtered position on those windows since I cannot extend the blinds down all the way - the only position to open them like that. I either have to extend it down past the AC and then scrunch it up, wrinkling the blinds, to sit on top of the AC unit, where it eventually slips and falls down to be the example below. On top of all of this, my designer didn't tell me there was a price promotion going on till I was at a Broadway show with my mother, saying I needed to sign and pay that day to get the discount (hundreds of dollars), so I rushed to put it in. THEN she didn't place the order for two of my son's blinds so he has had garbage bags on two of his windows since AUGUST 6. They would not price match my discounted price and wanted me to pay an ADDITIONAL $300+ per blind. They would not budge on this and I eventually gave up b/c I wasn't going to fight to pay for expensive blinds when they were not what I needed, thanks to my unreliable designer. During all of this my designer completely stopped communicating with me, leaving many emails unanswered. Her name is KAT - do not work with her. I am moving on to work with someone else to replace the blinds I got so my kids actually have blinds that work. I have been offered $200 for THOUSANDS of dollars worth of blinds, and when I went back to ask for more Custom Decorators stopped answering me too. I will post this review on every review sight I am able to, and will continue to spread word of how awful this company is to work with. My Project Number is P4432676 with this horrible company. It is now Sept 27 and I have had to wait WEEKS between getting responses from these people. Will provide an update should they remedy this situation

Unprofessional or untrained designer and terrible customer service. The designed did not understand the collection and options they have; was confused how one option was different from another; order was placed without the requested upgrades; did not tell me key facts about fabrics (like dark opaque fabric is actually pure white on the reverse side). The company refuses to take any responsibility for what happened or fix the order. They consider it completed and done.

This company took the blinds to repair on FEBURARY 9th 2023, and it has been more than 4 months and I still haven’t received them. I called so many times for the repair and delivery of my blinds and there is always the same answer. Just wait!! No one in this company knows what's going on with my product!! And when exactly I can get them back! This is the company I would never want to deal with again!!

Don't do business with any organization that partners with Custom Decorators. I placed a large order with one of their designers (that has since disappeared) in December. They required that I pay for the entire purchase at the time of order. I have yet to receive my order. I get the runaround on shipping dates every time I call the customer service number at CDI. I have tried to cancel to no avail. My next course of action will have to be litigation which is absolutely absurd! This company should not be in business. Do not use them!!

Installed Hunter Douglas blinds throughout home and didn't realize that they were not installed properly. I had called to have another blind added (that's when we realized they were improperly installed) and they refuse to fix what they didn't install properly. They informed me that since they are no longer a contracted vendor with Costco (purchased via) that it was no longer their problem...yet Custom Decorators actually did the install. The only factor Costco brought to the equation was a discount. In fact, when I went back to receipt, the invoice is all on Custom Decorator paperwork. Anyway, sometimes you don't know a vendor until something goes wrong and how they react. Well, based on this outcome after they installed something improperly and unwilling to fix the problem it can't recommend this company at all.

I have worked with Costco for new counter top. They were easy to work with and kept their appointments on time and did a beautiful job of installing.
