Katy Bell and I have know each other for about 20 years. She helped us decorate one home which we sold 6 years ago. We then purchased home built in 1973 that had not been updated since maybe the early 90s. We are now on the 3rd project - the 1st was relocating the laundry room, recreated the master bathroom/closet, renovate the bathrooms, light fixtures, paint, the 2nd was gutting the kitchen to the studs & decorate our teen sons room and now we are on the exterior. Kate Bells gift is to see the vision & create unique spaces. We love our home and it is stunning. Katy Bell has helped many of my friends as well as their friends. A beautiful person with amazing talent.

Katy Bell transformed both my bedroom and living room. These rooms were eye sores before she took on the job. Now they're my favorite rooms in the house. I enjoy sitting in these rooms and admiring the space. Katy Bell brought forth design ideas that have a significant impact on the spaces. We relocated from Los Angeles to Nashville into a larger and completely different style house than where we had lived previously. Katy Bell worked with us to essentially create a home from scratch and in the process became an extended part of the family. She works so hard to get to know you and understand both what items are practically needed as well as which furnishings might bring joy to every member of the family. Katy Bell worked within our budget, digging for finds that were low cost but unique and concurrently scouring retailers on and off the beaten path. Honestly, we could not have been happier with our experience and continue to use Katy Bell for an update here and there from time to time. Katy Bell invited me to work with her and one of her clients on a Laundry Room project. After having determined that her client needed a cabinetry solution to really maximize the space, she turned to California Closets for a solutionn, I was invited to provide a design consultation, design and bid. It was such a pleasure to work with both Katy Bell and her client on this project. She really helped articulate her clients needs and keep the project on track, specifically coordinating all of the other trades (plumbing, electrical, tile, painting) that needed to get done before the space would be ready for our final makeover. I would highly recommend Katy Bell Hamnes to anyone who needs an Interior Designer who knows how to handle the full scope of a major project. As an Executive Design Consultant for almost 12 years myself, it is such a pleasure to partner with a design professional to achieve a functional and beautiful solution that can really make a difference in the daily life of a homeowner.

I hired Katy Bell to help me review house plans for an addition we are planning. Wanted her advice on layout, etc. to makeuow sure we were not making any mistakes before finalizing the drawings. She was punctual, professional and extremely helpful. Brought up issues I wouldn't have thought of, and provided ideas that we want to incorporate. I got her name and number from friends - saw how she decorated two of my friends' homes and loved what she did for them. I would definitely recommend her.

We have loved working with Katy. When we bought our current home we were moving from a smaller space and were not bringing much furniture with us, so we essentially had a blank slate. We didn't want a house that felt "decorated," we wanted a house that felt finished and stylish but still felt like our family, and that is exactly what Katy has done for us. She has helped us with everything from furniture selection and placement, to paint, to lighting. She has been a lifesaver with furniture placement, helping us maximize space while keeping good traffic flows that don't make the rooms feel cluttered. We had the entire interior of the house repainted and we love the colors she helped us pick. She also has great ideas at all different price points. There are items we've purchased where we decided to spend more, and items where we decided to go with less expensive options, and she has done a great job mixing everything together. She also has a great eye, and can walk into a room and move a chair slightly or rearrange a picture frame and everything just looks more balanced and finished. We also made several improvements to the home including wood floors, shutters, and a flagstone hearth, and Katy had great resources that gave us good quotes for all of the work and did a great job. We also have an older kitchen with formica cabinets and counters that we plan to remodel at a later date, but she had great ideas for making very inexpensive improvements, like applying a concrete finish to the countertops, that have made a big difference until we remodel down the road. We're at the point now where the house is really coming together, and I love everything we've done. To top it off, she is hands down one of the nicest people I've worked with.

My daughter had outgrown her "little girl" bedroom, and I promised her that she and I would redecorate it so that it would more accurately reflect her teenage style and sensibilities. After several months of discussions with my daughter, hours and hours of reviewing magazine photos and online decorating sights, we were barely further along than when we started. At that point I called Katy Bell Hamnes, who was recommended to me, to redecorate the bedroom. Katy Bell came to our home, met with and listened to my daughter, and said "give me a few days". In only a day or two, Katy Bell came back with a plan that thrilled my daughter; my daughter's enthusiasm, coupled with Katy Bell's estimate, thrilled me. And the result: In short order my daughter had a "new" bedroom, with re-arranged and upgraded furniture, new colors and coordinating bedding, window treatments and accessories. Katy Bell did what we could not, and my daughter has a beautiful room!

Katy Bell Hamnes is so talented. I was absolutely thrilled when she agreed to help me with my remodel here in Houston! She is knowledgeable and creative but the most special characteristic has to be her commitment to be sure she helped me design a home that i will love; that truly reflects my personal style and preferences. I worked with Katy previously to pick out paint colors where she was extremely helpful. The house has now been completely repainted and it is absolutely amazing, it looks like a different house! So beautiful, I have comments on the beautiful paint colors from almost everyone who comes to see our new home. I just had her stop in again to help me figure out what light fixtures and décor I need to make the house feel like home and she is just wonderful. She catches on to exactly what I like and then provides so many great options and resources. I am someone who needs a lot of help with making things seem cohesive and Katy does a remarkable job of guiding and always has several different price points for items, which is extremely helpful! I know I will work with her again soon and I can't wait to start buying some of the pieces she has recommended!

My husband and I built a house and I loved it but it just did not feel like home. I found Katy Bell through a friend and loved the work she did with her space. Katy Bell helped us redo our kitchen and adjoining room in our new house. The existing kitchen was poorly designed for the size of our family, and I was so thankful to have her ideas and help in getting it where we wanted it. Katy Bell did an amazing job with our kitchen, breakfast room, den and powder room. It was a huge undertaking, a tight budget and VERY little time (approx 15 days). She had a complete reveal ready for us after a short vacation. We were blown away with the finished space. She not only reflected our personality but made it so personal and perfect from the paint, to repurposing our kitchen table, to accessories!

I hired Katy Bell to consult with me on my entire home décor transformation and specifically, a complete master bath and bedroom remodel, which is due to start in the beginning of June 2013. She was insightful in capturing exactly what we wanted with the feel of our home and lifestyle, from the lighting, fixtures and reclaimed lumber mirrors, to the natural stone used on the bathroom floor/shower walls and the bedroom hardwood and arrangements. All materials are purchased and ready for the contractor, thanks to Katy Bell's insight. Picking just the right paint colors promises to bring it all together to create our own oasis getaway. Our family is from the south so we are drawn to décor with a history and a sense of belonging. Katy Bell was able to move through our house and capture that in using some of my new and vintage items, as well as suggesting other new components and introducing natural elements into the décor like reclaimed lumber and a large cow hide rug. We certainly didn’t want it to look like it had arrived all in one day from one place. Katy Bell always had great suggestions and went the extra mile to send me ideas for our home. By using the same values throughout the house, everything just coheres. It's all coming together. She has a great eye and mix-and-match mode where she is able to juxtapose various pieces into a masterpiece of décor.

This is such an important part of putting a good room together; she knows if a color is going to pull too cool, too bright or go too much of a hue in given light. Katy Bell has BRILLIANT inspiration. She transformed the large, open main living floor of my house from an awkward space that nobody could figure out to a lovely set of seating areas, allowing us to accommodate large groups as well as more intimate. All by moving one door a few feet over, something so simple -- but her creative eye was the first and only to recognize how we could make things work. She's made our home more of a home! In the even bigger picture ... Katy Bell helped my husband and his elderly mother in her recent downsizing. With loving, tender care for all in a sensitive situation, she worked with us to place furniture, artwork, and other household items. To the delight of everybody involved. She's always game to roll up her sleeves and move things around, just to see how it looks. Her talent and vision that are truly invaluable. INVALUABLE. And she's a dream to be around, strong and firm with her wisdom but also kind and easy to be around.

So grateful for Katy Bell's design assistance on a number of house projects; most recently a master bath/bedroom/office remodel. We met with and hired Katy Bell after losing our builder in middle of our more than $500k remodel project. She immediately came to us with a vision and solution to our specific roadblocks including tying our exterior colors/style together and finding the right subcontractors to get the job done at a very reasonable price.
