Recently my wife and I successfully completed a total remodel of our home in Harbor Ridge Estates in Newport Beach, CA. We are fortunate to have worked with Cheryl Gardewine of Studio CG from the onset of our project. We retained Cheryl as, both, designer and project manager. In these roles, Cheryl not only led the design effort, but, also, led the selection of our architect, our contractor, as well as the many vendors that we used to implement the custom work associated with Cheryl’s designs of our contemporary furniture and style.
Cheryl and our architect worked together to establish our “likes” and helped us identify the contemporary style that we found most pleasing. They worked together
to integrate great contemporary architecture and great contemporary design in our plans.
We were able to see early in the process that our goals for the total remodel of our 1978 home would be met when the project was completed. Cheryl’s overlays on the architectural drawings assured us that the furniture and decor would fit. She presented us with “storage plans” that compared all the storage in our old home to the planned storage in our new home. She presented us with art plans that incorporated our favorite things into the spaces in our new home and furniture plans that spelled out where we could use existing pieces, where we needed to buy new pieces, and where a custom built piece would be best.
With our project plans in hand we braved several condo association meetings to get approval and we presented our neighbors with renderings of the final project to get the neighbor approvals we needed.
Cheryl recommended a “finishes list” based on our discussions with her, and upon approval, she sourced the samples and specified the requirements for our contractor and his subs. She also provided quality control assuring the finished work and the samples matched. Cheryl presented us with choices that complemented our contemporary décor enabling a speedy final selection of appliances, plumbing fixtures, decorative hardware, lighting, carpet/flooring…everything on the bill-of-material.
When a custom piece was called for, Cheryl’s excellent design and communication skills and artistic talent came to the forefront. Cheryl produces CAD drawings of everything. When two-dimensional views are insufficient, she creates full renderings to help conceptualize her designs. Upon design approval, Cheryl provided the vendors and sub-contractors with fully dimensioned drawing packages. Beyond our custom cabinets, Cheryl designed two built in beds, a dining room table, a sofa, two custom dog crates and a dog feeding station, multiple closets, lighting fixtures, custom wallpaper, and carpet.
We had high expectations for our project. Our expectations have been exceeded. Cheryl and our architect and contractor did an excellent job. Cheryl was the engine
in the success of our project. She designed a beautiful and highly functional home for us to enjoy for a long time.
It has been our pleasure working with and getting to know Cheryl. She is articulate and creative. She is a good listener and skillfully accommodates her
clients' ideas and needs without compromising her design principles. She's prompt with her communications and timely with all meetings and deadlines.
It is easy for us to recommend Studio CG to design and decorate the remodel of your entire home, or to design or decorate any part of it.
