About Us

Giselle Ulmo, Interior Designer, Well AP, Renovator. Becoming an interior designer was a natural progression since I have been designing my whole life. I was in fashion for years and then interior design became my focus when I bought a house that needed a lot of work. I returned to the university for a degree in interior design and Giselle Ulmo Design was launched. During my career, I have worked with many different clients on a variety of projects. Also in collaboration with some of the top design-build companies in NYC. Many are represented in our project portfolio. We focus on renovations of kitchens and bathrooms, space planning, and furnishings on projects around the world with a variety of types of projects, clients, and budgets. In addition, we also specialize in healthy interiors; well-focused products, and procurement. As Well AP and healthy material advocates, we are qualified to specify products and furnishings for your home that are not harmful to you or the environment. On a constant hunt to bring the healthiest products free of off-gassing, formaldehyde, and VOC. This serves well for people with allergies, respiratory medical conditions, and aging in place. To our team and I, a space is not only about aesthetics it is important that it serves its habitants and functions well. The essence of my designs and project are developed when we listen to our clients, understand the space, and are able to take the client's vision and make it a reality. I have built my business working in collaboration with designers, renders, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and painters. We have worked on some great projects and we celebrate that each time. Many of my clients have become my friends and we have a mutual inspiration for each other.

If you’re looking for a designer that cares about you just as much as the finished product, look no further than Giselle. Giselle is the consummate professional and I cannot recommend her often enough. Aside from her extensive rolodex of specialized professionals, which she’s clearly curated highly positive business relationships with over her career, she has a breadth of knowledge of items and options, and of the construction process. Giselle is always on her client’s team and will advocate for your best interests in the usually male-dominated construction world, working to alleviate your stress and workload. I had truly the best experience working with Giselle. She entered our project in an atypical position, cleaning up someone else’s mess and helping me pick up and align the rest of the pieces. She jumped in head on, taking on a priority list of tasks and executing each one quickly and competently. Giselle carted samples back and forth, provided 2-dimensional layouts with multiple options for various areas or millwork, and always followed up and through with communication via email and phone calls. She offered me options, expedited shipping and selections, and her billing was clear. She was always prompt and early for our appointments and with various vendors. Her specialized contacts (custom shades, millwork, stone fabrication, wallpaper installer, and more,) answer when she calls, are prompt and keep their appointments, and live up to her standard of finished product. Gisele truly cares about her clients and only wants the best for them. I would work with her again on any future projects.

Coming out of COVID we decided to reimagine our kitchen design. After interviewing numerous designers we engaged the services of Giselle Ulmo. We were immediately impressed by her focus on working within the budget we gave her as well as her speed to guide us on in-person tours of key tile, cabinet and stone retail operations. Giselle was very talented in working with our strict coop building management to obtain the numerous permissions required to undertake our project and guided the renovation team constantly and assiduously in compliance with these. She has an impressive roster of third party service providers and throughout the duration of our project proved an excellent communicator, including as needed, working to keep various vendors to their schedules. Thanks to Giselle’s project management and design counsel we were able to transform our space into the updated kitchen of our dreams.

We hired Giselle to renovate our kitchen. We had some ideas of what we wanted but it was not until we spoke to Giselle that she open our eyes to the possibilities of the space. She made us realize that there was opportunities to make the space more open and functional. She introduce us to some great materials that made it all come together beautifully. The kitchen became everything we always wanted. Giselle was communicative, explaining process every step of the way. Our building was not easy but she has a way of putting everyone at ease and keep her crew moving. We highly recommend Giselle she is a great designer.

I had a wonderful experience working with Giselle. I needed to make a change in my 2 bedroom apartment. It was outdated and looked the same for some years. I had never thought about hiring an interior designer and when I met Giselle, we just clicked. She understood what I was looking for and always respected my needs and style that I was wanting while giving great ideas and advice. She helped me make really great choices that enhanced the spaces and functionality and the process was never rushed. Whenever we met, we would always focus on the next thing that I wanted to replace or enhance. We would exchange lots of ideas and go shopping until we found the right item. Giselle also focused on items that were natural, have no toxins and quality made. My apartment was transformed to a beautiful and cozy place. The colors and furniture/design that Giselle chose for my living room area is my favorite which accommodates more people for entertaining and I never get tired of the compliments. We hired Giselle to help us with our home that had several issues and challenges. One many of our common areas were dated like the kitchen and bathrooms. She designed a newly updated space that feels fresh and classic. Giselle was so knowledgeable about giving us options and really getting in the heart of how we best use our home. She made me think of things I never thought of and to see the space potential. One of our priorities was that we want everything to be as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible she is a wealth of information. She never rushed us to make a decision she just provided a lot of product information, design ideas, concept, and drawings that help me in my decision-making process. She made my priority her priority and never tried to sell me on anything that did not feel right and kept our focus. She is very clever and talented in how she mixes products at different price points to still create the look we are after without sacrificing the budget. Giselle and I are working on a large residential interior renovation and interior design project. We were commission by the client to work in different aspects of the project but in collaboration. We have worked together in the past and I am always amazed at her ability to very organized with her team of skilled tradesmen working on the project from tilers, millworkers, installers, and painters. Giselle is truly an experienced interior designer and project coordinator as she gets everyone moving together forward. She has such a calm demeanor which makes her a pleasure to work with. Always there to help resolve any issues, should they arise. Giselle will be there from project inception till completion, to guide the customer in creating a home in which they will love living; for many years to come. She will help ease the stress that, comes from handling a remodeling project. By helping in making the best choices for the project. We have worked with Giselle twice. We hired Giselle when we finished our third floor. We added nearly 1000 sq ft to our 2600 sq ft home. Giselle created an overall design to incorporate the new space, paying specific attention to the new function and creating a cohesive floor plan. She also helped buy new furniture and accessories to turn the plan into reality. Later when we sold our home Giselle staged it for us. We started by going room to room. She made a list of repairs and told us what we needed to pack up. For some rooms she created new layouts and even went with me to buy fabric and accessories to brighten and refresh our home. She did it all - on our budget and we received rave reviews from realtors, prospective buyers, and brokers. We could not have sold our home without her help.

When I decided to redesign my apartment in NYC, I wanted the space to also be functional but found it difficult to make the right decisions on what to purchase and knew that it would be best to get a professional to guide me. Giselle was a good fit because she really listened to what I wanted and the results speak to that. . She suggested great options for the new furniture needed, and was also mindful of our budget by giving great advice on where to splurge and where to save. We started working in the living room and pretty much have redesigned the whole apartment from purchasing a new sofa, chairs, rugs, artwork for the living room , a beautiful vintage dresser, bedside tables, plush headboard for the master bedroom just to name a few. She gave me a new perspective and design ideas I would not have thought of myself and by giving me the confidence to add and incorporate colors.What impressed me was how creative she is in her ideas and suggestions while always looking to optimize the space. I couldn't be happier with the results. Giselle is extremely organized, keenly attentive to detail and has a strong sense of responsibility to her clients. I hire Giselle to design our office space in New York. We really needed to optimize the space, needed better flow and wanted very little disruption while all of this was happening. We could not believe what she was able to come up with the space. Not only did she give us a great design, she coordinated the whole project, order all the office furniture and came in budget.
