This project was a complete remodel in which Amy Sklar Design ingeniously enlarged the kitchen to maximize storage space and the comfort of two avid cooks working together. The beat-up 70s kitchen my husband and I had been living with for years has been transformed into a comfortable, contemporary one. Amy Sklar was conscientious about cost and achieved superb results with a modest budget. Sklar consulted with us on the layout, created numerous detailed renderings, helped select a contractor, and provided invaluable shopping and buying guidance for every detail of the room. Sklar saved us valuable time by paying visits to our home with samples, swatches and photographs and sending website referrals and links to specific products including paint colors, tiles, surface materials, appliances, fixtures, and furniture. There was additional regular communication throughout design and remodeling process by phone and email. As clients, we couldn't be happier with the working relationship we had with Amy Sklar and her associates, and we love the results of her work.

I'd worked with a couple of different interior designers before, but I wasn't prepared for how on-point, fast, and economical Amy Sklar was. From my vague, rambling descriptions of what I was looking for, she was able to fuse and synthesize my vision for our home, WAY beyond what I thought I wanted. And she was able to not only stay within our budget, but made so many brilliant, money-saving choices that I was able to also re-do my office, which i didn't think I'd be able to do. Top marks. Total pro.

Amy is absolutely amazing. I had never worked with a decorator before because I love doing my own decorating. The guest bedroom was my last project in my three bedroom Santa Monica house and I didn't really have the time to do it myself. I'd also inherited some antique furniture pieces that were completely out of my decorating comfort zone. She came in, looked at my style and immediately knew exactly what I was going for. She's warm and stylish and fun and made the whole process such a pleasure. I initially hired her to redecorate just the guest bedroom but I was so thrilled with her work that I ended up using her for projects in my loft and dining room as well. I feel like she put the same kind of energy and pride into my house that she would put into her own. She surrounds herself with a wonderful team of people and everyone from the cabinet builder to the electrician to the painter was creative and professional. I also appreciate that Amy knows where to save and where to splurge. I feel like my money was well spent and that she has a good sense of budget. I wasn't sure how much I wanted to spend (which probably isn't the right thing to say to a decorator!) but she helped me make smart decisions. You will be in great hands with Amy. I'll definitely be using her again in the future.

Amy Sklar designed and decorated nearly every aspect of our new home, exteriors, and guest house. After working with her for just a few weeks my husband and I both agreed that we felt confident deferring to Amy on every detail. Her taste was impeccable. She was warm, upbeat, thorough, and understanding about any concerns. It may sound corny, but I honestly think of her every day as I look around my beautiful home, in wonder that someone was able to create the dream home I wanted but often felt unable to precisely describe --- Amy translated my clumsy thoughts into a stunning reality. Amy brings YOUR vision to life. She knows how to listen and respond to notes. She makes you feel like it's your own style but chooses things you would never think of on your own. She is detail oriented and on the ball all the time. Plus, she and her team are a delight to work with.
