Mike did an incredible job of transforming our whole home. We relied on him at every step of the way: from determining scope, to outlining broad goals, to layout, to cabinet design, to stain and baseboard selection, and most importantly to his careful and diligent implementation of the changes to our house. We feel like we live in the same home with the same character, but transformed into a brighter, roomier, more functional space. Hire Mike if you want a contractor who: - Will take responsibility for the whole build or renovation. - Will provide time estimates that he can actually keep. - Will stay on budget, and let you know when your choices could send you over. - Will be creative about figuring out how to give you what you want. - Will do things right. Anecdote: A grumpy neighbour called the city, incorrectly claiming that the builders were improperly handling asbestos. The inspectors showed up in hazmat suits ready to shut down the build, and instead ended up complimenting Mike for having followed exactly the right procedure. Anecdote #2: A few years ago, we had Mike renovate our basement utility room. During that renovation, he realized the upstairs subfloor wasn't properly supported, and came to us with a plan to cheaply address that problem, explaining why it was important. Mike has a keen eye for substandard work, and a determination to make sure it is corrected. Mike does things the right way, but not just one way. Many, many times we had requests that weren't straightforward, and Mike would figure out a way to make them work. We love what he did with our home, and we'd recommend him to anyone who wants a diligent, cost-conscious, and creative contractor.

We purchased a stand alone new build home in Winston Heights Calgary from Siena Signature Builders mid 2025. The finishings are high quality and the attention to detail is evident throughout the home. From a layout standpoint, you can tell that the builder and owner, Mike Priolo, has paid special attention to the natural flow and function of the home. Upon taking possession, we had some additional upgrades added based on our unique family needs, and Mike made creative recommendations on materials and designs that would provide the utility we were looking for, while also extending the character of the home. During our final home inspection, Mike ensured every touch-up was completed to the highest standard so that our new home was perfect and move-in ready, and he went above and beyond to answer questions and make adjustments well after we had moved in. We hired Mike to help with an extension to our home last year, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. Mike was an absolute lifesaver, guiding us through every step of this long journey with expertise and dedication. The previous owners had flipped the house, cutting corners and leaving many areas not up to code. Mike's experience was invaluable in identifying these issues. Whether the problems stemmed from substandard previous work or changes since the house was built in the mid-60s, Mike spotted them all. He kept us informed of every issue as renovations progressed, navigating each challenge with remarkable expertise. We could rely on Mike for thorough weekly updates on our project's status—he never missed a beat. Throughout the process, we learned a great deal from Mike. His thoroughness and willingness to explain every detail were incredibly helpful. His recommendations always guided us in the right direction. Mike's work is impeccable. I met Mike while showing his personal property to a buyer client. As it turned out, he was also the builder of the exquisite executive home, and I was very impressed with the finishing and workmanship. After our offer was accepted, my client and I met with Mike for over 2 hours as he went over the various infrastructure upgrades and his own personal philosophy. These features included the use of hardy board, aggregate concrete, specially designed ceiling drywall for skylights, upgraded roof vents, foundation membrane, above code insulation, composite and maintenance free decks and railings, gorgeous, chic, fireplace, facing, gorgeous, custom cabinets and granite – the list went on and on. I was so impressed with the quality of finishing and workmanship; it was obvious he took a great deal of pride in his work. Later, I approached him with some renovation projects for my own home. The whole experience has been fabulous! His work crews are efficient and professional, arrive on time and leave no mess behind. We did engineered hardwood and bathroom work, and his tile team were simply awesome. I have renovated two other homes in the past, and built one from scratch. As a 15 year realtor, I see lots and lots of DIY work. I can honestly say this has been the best experience I’ve ever had, and I am actually moving forward on two more bathroom renovations in the new year with Mike. If I ever decide to build a home again, Mike is the one I will have do it. In addition to quality work and materials, he provides the additional value of peace of mind, which I appreciate so very much. Mike and his team were excellent to work with on our reno project. We're very happy with the work Mike did on our house: it was beautiful, on budget, and on time. This was impressive in a time of unprecedented supply shortages; once, one of his plumbers drove from Calgary to Lethbridge and back to get an important component. We hired Mike to totally remodel two bathrooms and our utility/laundry room, and when issues happened after we had moved back in, he kept following up with us until we were completely satisfied. One of our favourite things about Mike was that when he found pre-existing problems in our house, he'd address them cheaply, or discuss our options if that wasn't possible. He was generous with his time when helping us make decisions.

We are extremely pleased with the outcome of our whole home renovation by Siena Builders. Siena Builders was able to come up with a great design layout for the complete renovation of the house we had just bought, from kitchen to bathrooms, bedrooms and all areas. They walked us through the plan and explained the process and what it would take to get the end result we were hoping for. Mike at Siena, came up with a budget and explained to us what costs were involved and where the funds of the budget were being allocated. He gave us a breakdown on the amounts of money we would be able to spend in each area of the home and what types of material we would be able to buy in order to stay within our budget. There were a few unforeseen issues during the renovation as to be expected with a 65 year old house. Mike and his team Siena Builders were great at explaining the issues and how best to resolve them at reasonable costs. Mike from Siena and I worked together very well from the start of my basement renovation. I wanted something unique with my personality in it. He was able to guide me through what I could and couldn't do as we put the vision together. As the process went along, I was kept regularly updated, and flexibility was always present. Near the end, I decided I wanted a last minute brick feature wall, and he was very supportive and made it happen. The end results were masterful and I enjoy it so much. The workmanship provided was of great quality. When some minor flaws were discovered, they were immediately (next day) rectified. An added touch was getting a few extra out of scope items done in other areas of my house as the basement was developed, such as a hardwood refinishing. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, right on budget, and I would recommend Mike and Siena going forward.

We just moved into our custom build with Siena signature builders. We loved how everything turned out !!! Mike was awesome to deal with. My family has been living in a custom home that was built on spec by Sienna since 2012. Overall, we are extremely please with the build quality, attention to detail and quality of materials used. We have not had a single major issue issue with the home and any small issue was fixed by Sienna right away. We also hired Sienna afterward to develop the basement. I would say that Mike is as straightforward as they come and the design process was very much a collaboration with Mike taking extra time to answer all my questions, many times much past typical working hours. Overall, we are very happy with Sienna and would use them again or be happy to recommend them to friends/family for a full custom build or renovation.

Mike was recommended to us and after some meetings, and price information we felt comfortable choosing him for our project. The project was a collaboration with Mike and our ideas. He did bring some great ideas to the project but was very open to ours as well which made for a great team work. The whole process from beginning to end was a pleasure. Mike was an incredibly professional builder and very detailed oriented. He always tried to go over and above our expectations, suggesting his solutions but always listening to the customer. Mike guided us through our first home renovation and offered us honest and practical advice about design and budget. He has very high standards and it showed in the final product. When we embarked on the renovation of our house last year we had a very specific goal. We did not want a DIY project and the renovation had to have a clear start and end date. The Start We have a mid-century bungalow that was in good shape but had very closed off rooms with poor light and air circulation. We contracted with Siena Signature Builders Inc. and there are specific reasons why Siena was awarded our contract. Our wish list was substantial, and the available funds were not a match for the wish list. Mike was essential in helping us identify what was possible. His recommendations were always presented in a professional and respectful manner. What I really liked about at this stage of the process is that he listened to both my husband and myself and really tried to achieve a solution that worked for both of us. With us having two different perspectives Mike was able to help us determine what our renovation should look like. He modified the design several times and did any required research on the bylaws for some of our wishes list items. He was direct and honest about what a good / bad idea would be. Mike was also very clear about the Risks of some of our design choices, like taking down walls and what the potential impact could be. At the end of the process, we ended up with a design that we both liked and now looking around my home, the design and the finished product are very close. The Renovation We were fortunate in our timing because Siena Signature Builders Inc. had just finished developing several homes and we were able to see the completed work. I personally like the clean lines and colors that Mike had chosen for his homes. They had a classic simplicity that truly works in smaller spaces. The final design called for us to open up our first story and remove a load bearing wall. Mike brought in the team and the inspectors to ensure that this work was done safely. We had asbestos in our insulation and popcorn ceiling. Mike took care of all that and found the best company to do the work. We upgraded the electrical in our home and added more outlets, identified and fixed the hidden junction boxes. Mike took care of that, bringing in his electrical contractor. He warned us about the hidden surprises in older homes, and all through the process we talked about our options and what the best thing to do would be. We were involved in all the important decisions (anything that impacted the budget) without getting overwhelmed with the specific details. On that note, if I ever asked questions and wanted to know why about something, I was always answered correctly and respectfully by Mike and all of the specialists and contractors that were working on the job site. The respect that Mike showed to us was also mirrored by his staff and sub-contractors. There were some unexpected scheduling challenges on the job that we, the owners created, but Mike worked his magic and was able to modify his schedule to keep the work going. Just another example of his professional and high customer service standards. The Finish Now that the walls were up and the electricity updated it was time to pick paint color. One thing I had asked Mike to do at the beginning of our renovation journey was that I didn’t want to be confronted with hundreds of color / tile choices. I had asked Mike to pick out 5 or 6 options for me to choose from. That is exactly what he did, but at this point I was invested and I wanted to see the hundreds of choices. We drove to the tile store, we drove to the lighting store, we drove to the bathroom store and we went back 2 or 3 times. At the end of the day we found our wall and bathroom tiles and colors, all within the 6 options that Mike had initially presented to us. Mike, I said it to you then and I say it again “Mike, you were right”. When it came to the Kitchen and Dining Room Floor Tile: I went with Mike’s recommendation. The finishes really make the space look great but knowing that behind the walls, the right choices were made, makes the renovation safe. The Budget We had a healthy budget, but also a very long wish list. The original design and Statement of Work laid out the costs in a straight forward manner. The estimates and actual costs were clearly defined and given Mike’s experience, the estimates were relatively accurate. There were some changes in our designs as we progressed, but any decision that impacted the costs in anyway were communicated to us clearly. Yes, we went over budget a bit, but we have an awesome deck now too! At no point did I feel that we were getting out of financial control and not know where the money went. One of the questions that I asked initially to all the References that Siena Signature Builders Inc. had given me was: “If you had to do it again, would you hire Siena Signature Builders Inc.?” My answer mirrors that of all the references that I checked, Yes, I would.

We researched extensively when selecting a contractor to build our family home in Calgary’s Renfrew community. We cannot say enough good things about our experience with Sienna Signature Builders and the owner Mike. From the moment we walked into the house for the first time we were amazed by the amount of light and sunshine that filled the room thanks to all the large windows and beautiful skylight. The modern, open concept was pleasing and gave me a feeling of tranquility as I could imagine myself relaxing on the couch enjoying a coffee. There were so many different things we could do with this lovely layout. The cupboards space and clever pantry space gave us a ton of options for putting things away keeping a clean minimal look. The bedrooms were spacious and perfect for the kids and us. The master had a spectacular bathroom that had gorgeous tiling which made it feel like I walked into a spa. Not to mention I was very impressed with the walk in closet that had generous walking space, lots of hanging space and great shelving. Every other house we visited looked like the same thing but different colors, fixtures and less space for organization. The layout of this duplex was like no other we saw when we were on the hunt for that "perfect" home. Even after we looked at other alternatives we could not stop thinking about this home as it left such a lasting impression. So it wasn't long before we came back for a second look. This time we were carefully looking at the quality of the workmanship of this home. It was apparent right away that the materials used, time taken to put everything together and attention to detail blew the doors off any other home we looked at. From the foundation through to the roof ventilation, everything was using the latest and greatest technologies and materials. Then we had the pleasure of meeting the owner Mike. Mike's thoughtful planning and past experience with building homes really showed in the details of how he built this home. There were things in the house that could meet the future needs of almost any owner. Perhaps you wanted a basement bar or a second wall mounted tv on the main floor or even choice of where to place your entertainment unit in the basement. All of this was possible with little to no renovation required, and we couldn't believe we had a preference. It was not long after, we said this was the one. After searching for a new home for 18 months and only finding poorly laid out plans with what appeared to be a lack in workmanship we finally found a duplex built by Siena signature builders. The quality in the workmanship is unmatched and you can tell the trades that were used care about their work. The layout is spectacular with no wasted space and excellent storage. The owner, Mike, is great and always willing to help out or fix any problem that arises. I would recommend his work to anyone that I know.

Siena designed and built our house. We were very happy with the final results. The design process was enjoyable and Mike (the builder) had great input from past experiences. We were provided a detailed budget so we could see how much each area would cost. This was helpful instead getting one amount for the final price. The building process was great since we could go by the house any time and look around. Mike answered all our questions when we had them. Any time there was a decision to be made, the matter the size, we were consulted which put your mind at ease if something cost a little extra than expected. Quality of material and workman ship was very good. The builder had great trades that provided excellent quality. And if something wasn’t up to our standard, the builder worked with its trades to get it right. The house took a little longer to expected, but I didn’t mind if the quality would have suffered. Overall I was very happy with the house Siena built and I would recommend Mike to my family or friends.

I am an estimator and have seen and worked with Mike from Siena on several of his projects over the past 6 years. He is absolutely the most dedicated and knowledgeable private contractor that I know in Calgary's custom home building market. He knows the business, front to end - he understands the challenges of financing a project, he knows the city processes for applications and approvals, and he gets engaged early in the planning stages, putting his experience to work to make decisions that avoid pitfalls down the line. His designs are thoughtful and practical, his finishings are attractive and affordable. He's an expert at budgeting and is very good at hitting the sweet spot of balancing luxury against cost. In the Spring of 2016, we moved into a beautiful new duplex that Siena (Mike Priolo) built in Winston Heights and we couldn't be happier. The quality of construction for the price was by far and away the best that we've seen in the city. What a great builder. Then, we hired Siena (Mike Priolo) to add a wet bar to the basement, using the same matching cabinets, counter top, and tile accents found elsewhere in the home. The job was done extremely well, at a reasonable cost, and to a very high level of detail. Now, the wet bar looks like it was there since day one. A+, 10/10, :)

We were looking in the Calgary infill market for a new home for approximately 6 months. So many infills that we viewed would look 'cookie cutter' with poor use of space and little attention to detail. We came across an open house of Siena and instantly fell in love with the home. The quality of building materials miles better than others we have seen. The attention to detail surpassed what other custom builders offered. The design of the house was actually thought though and had purpose. And the service after we purchased the house was always offered to us even though it wasn't necessary. My 94 yr old father lives in the same house he has lived in for 60 years. Since my brother-in-law passed away three years ago, there has been no one to keep up with regular maintenance or replacement of items that wear out. My sister and I do what we can when we are in town but we both live out of Calgary. When I was there in February, Dad was using a pipe wrench to open and close the taps in his bathroom upstairs, all the time cursing the last plumber who charged him $300 and still didn't fix it. When Dad went into the hospital shortly after my visit, I made a decision to try and get the plumbing fixed in the upstairs bathroom and also see what it would cost to replace the shower in the downstairs bathroom. The thought being that if Dad ever needed in-home care long term, that a caregiver would have their own bathroom and shower. When I talked to my son about it, he told me about the guy who he contracted with when he built his most recent house. He got ahold of Mike and had him over there within a week to do a walk through and provide some insight into what these two jobs might entail. What impressed me a lot was the fact that Mike took into account the practical aspects of embarking on renovation projects in a house that would probably be torn down within the next five years. His quote came in a lot lower than I thought, but most of all I liked the way he presented what needed to be done, and did not try to push anything fancy or impractical. I knew that the company was used to doing big construction projects and that my dad's house could be considered less important. But at no time did I get that impression at all and both projects were completed in time for my dad to get home from the hospital with a functioning set of taps. You have to realize the scope of the project in a house that old, to understand how impressed I was with the final work as well as what it cost, it came in less than the original estimate. Mike even tried to clean the very stained bathtub that was probably the original one. Bless his heart, I have tried that myself to no avail. Needless to say, I would recommend Mike and his team for ANY project whether it be a big new build or a smallish renovation. Although small, my renovation was important to me and Mike took it just as seriously. Keeping my budget in mind, we worked together to plan the layout of the hardwood to best suit the space. He also had to match paint colour flowing through to other spaces. The overall attention to detail was spot on. His team worked quickly and within my schedule. When I got other ideas, he always responded with a smile and I knew he would get them done. I would certainly recommend Siena Signature Builders for projects big or small. My husband and I worked with Siena Builders last year on building out our deck and basement. We were provided utmost professionalism from beginning to end. I felt comfortable with the design skill from Mike Priolo, and appreciated the different ideas and suggestions he gave us. The quality and look of our improvements is something we are thrilled with. We bought our home from Siena in 2012 and we could not be happier. The quality of the materials, the craftsmanship, the attention to detail and the customer service are fantastic. We had looked at 30-35 different houses, knowing that we wanted an infill in an established neighbourhood, after a while they all started to look the same. As soon as we walked in we knew this was the one. We did not have the chance to participate in the design, choosing colours, layout, etc., but they did such a great job we would not have changed a thing. We wanted something that was modern with out being stark or cold, Mike and his team hit the nail on the head with this house. More importantly to me is Mike's customer service. We had a issue with a small section of carpet that I wanted to get fixed (needed to be re-stretched). Mike reached out to the original installer and arranged for the carpet to be fixed, outside of warranty, and at no cost! I recommend Siena to everyone I know looking to move into a great upscale home and, knowing my wife, when we build again, I'll be calling Mike.

We hired Siena as the General Contractor for the construction of our semi detached home at 1109B Reader Crescent and are very happy with the results. We used a third party architect to complete the blueprints, but we relied heavily on input from Siena during the design process for items ranging from constructability through aesthetics. Mike, the owner, was always prompt and thorough when providing feedback and we were particularly happy with the advice on where to splurge, and where to save, without sacrificing quality and livability. This is something that you will not always get from a builder, since they are typically incentivized to get you to spend. Never did we feel pressured. He always provided input on the pros/cons and let us decide what worked best for us. We reviewed/interviewed many builders prior to deciding on Siena for our home. What really stood out was their attention to detail and build quality, both in our home and others we toured. Having full access throughout the construction process also gave us piece of mind knowing that what's behind the walls was just as solid as what's on the surface. Many items exceeded code requirements where it made sense (one example: spray foam on all joist ends, which led to lower utilities throughout this past winter, even though our new house is larger than our last). Furthermore, Siena has developed a solid relationship with many quality subcontractors, which is important when trying to keep progress moving along.
