Gustavo and his team are true professionals and the quality/uniqueness of the design is second to none. Further, he will stand by his product, meaning he honors his work. If there is an issue with the design, it is corrected almost immediately. Don’t fool yourself, to design a custom set of plans (with any architectural design firm) will take some time, so do your research. How does it go, Rome was not built in a day? A-Design is a plan design firm that doesn’t nickel and dime you, they draw a quality product, they have integrity, and they are very articulate in communicating their vision. While we have owned several homes; we had never built a custom home. This was a learning curve and we jumped into the deep end feet first. The initial starting point is finding the architect to make your dreams come to reality. While Gustavo came highly recommended to us from a Custom Home Builder, we wanted to be sure he was the right fit, so my wife and I did our homework on his firm before officially meeting with him. From viewing his previous work to reading reviews, his reputation is unmatched in San Antonio. After our first meeting with him, my wife and I instantly knew he was the right choice. His demeanor and attention to detail are unparalleled. Not only did Gustavo listen to our ideas and provide a framework for our vision, he went above and beyond with his vast knowledge of things to avoid, change or stay away from. From the home's orientation on the property to the intricate details on every part of the home, Gustavo left no stone unturned. His response time answer emails and/or questions we had during the design process far exceeded our expectations. When we approached Gustavo, one main concern was timing. We needed our plans done quickly so we could get the home priced and under construction immediately, in an effort to relocate for business. While many others take several months to years to perfect a home's design; Gustavo was able to complete ours a couple months earlier than originally stated. I cannot recommend Gustavo enough. My husband and I loved working with Gustavo. As a designer myself, I had a vision in my mind. Gustavo was able to capture that vision and add his special touches that is making our dream extra special. It was a fun project, working along side him and the contractor, pulling all our creative ideas together. Building a home can be a stressful time. But when you have someone with a calm demeanor like Gustavo, it helps make the design part easy. I will say Gustavo is an artist. I would highly recommend him.

Gustavo’s experience in creating beautiful designs, harmony between rooms that convey the feeling of space without being cavernous, and including features to entertain your eyes is an experience we would do all over again. We’re now in the construction phase of our home. Seeing his vision take shape and being able walk through his wonderful work has us very excited to call Gustavo’s design our home.

Gustavo is an amazing architect. He and his company do tremendous work. We were recommended to him by our custom builder Mattern and Fitzgerald. His design package was much more thorough than what you get from most architects, twelve (12) sheets including ceiling details, all the builtins/cabinets, elevations, and several cross-sections. Gustavo has designed many amazing, award-winning homes, many of which were several times the size and cost of our 4000 sq ft home, but his customer focus, service and results were the same. We recently built our retirement home in the hill country north of San Antonio. We had the very good fortune of being introduced to Gustavo by our builder; the two of them having a long-standing working relationship. Having built a couple of homes previously, we were not new to the building process. Without reservation or hesitation, we hold Gustavo and his design work in the highest regard. We had very specific ideas we wanted incorporated into our floor plan regarding certain room functionality and their relative location. Gustavo listened patiently, asked clarifying questions, and introduced ideas for consideration that, of course, had never occurred to us. Rather than hand him a floor plan that we thought reflected our ‘wants,’ we preferred that he work from a blank canvas. The floorplan design he developed, in and of itself, was far better than anything we had envisioned. The way the house flowed internally checked all of our boxes, including some boxes we didn’t even know we had! But once we saw how he oriented the floor plan on our lot to maximize views, while working within the confines of our building envelope, the true artistry of his design became evident.
