Probably the best thing I did in remodeling our primary bathroom was to ask Nadja to design it. Having done a bathroom remodel on my own recently there was just a huge difference in this project because I was working with an experienced designer. First, the design itself made such good use of not only the space but also the natural lighting from a skylight and window. Then the fixtures have turned out to be not only beautiful but also wonderfully functional--this includes everything from the shower heads to the vanity, mirrors, shelves and sliding door closet. I was saved an enormous amount of time and travel because she knew which vendors and what to order in the way of all the bathroom fixtures. A very important feature is the tile which I doubt I would have found on my own which truly captured the style I was after in an International Modernist house. It was also great that she worked with a contractor that she knew and trusted so communication was always easy. It is just so pleasing to have a bathroom that is so thoughtfully functional as well as aesthetically pleasing--I feel it fully captures the spirit of Bauhaus design that I was seeking in this project.

It was a super fun process working with Nadja on my kitchen and bath remodel! I appreciate that she has all the professional knowledge to provide functional and aesthetic designs and solutions, but is also really collaborative and listens to and incorporate most of my ideas (and talked me out of the impractical ones). The process starts with the creation of a mood board on a shared google doc that we can both throw ideas onto (talk about kid in a candy store). After refining my needs and wants and evaluating/ measuring the space, she comes up with a draft plan including drawings and 3D rendering (see photos), which was amazing as I can actually "see" what the design would look like in my space, and you can see how uncanny the rendering resembles the finished space. From there she gave me a variety of vendors to consider, e.g. cabinets, countertops, appliances, various finishes, etc, and I ended up using most of her recommendations while finding some on my own (I'm a shopper and like to check things out on my own). She continued to help me think through all the different choices (paint 1 or 2? tile 1 or 2? grout 1 or 2? You get the idea), and patiently tweaked the designs until we have the perfect plan. When the cabinets arrived and some things weren't right, she worked with the vendor to set things straight and made sure I got what I wanted. I also ended up using a contractor Nadja recommended, who worked so well with both her and me, and completed my project pretty much on time (well, pandemic time) and on budget. I LOVE my kitchen and bath and I can't recommend Nadja enough!

My husband and I did basically whole home renovation of a 100+ year old craftsman in Alameda. We worked with Nadja to design the kitchen, master bath and fireplace. Her designs, advice, guidance and resources helped us navigate decisions that spanned the gamut – cabinetry layout, appliances, fixtures, lights, pulls, tile, stone, etc. She paid attention to our style, but also helped us modernize our approach. The vendors, stores, websites and people she referred us to also made decisions easier as we weren’t paralyzed by too many options. Her attention to color, shape and lines helped us create beautiful spaces that are also super functional for our young family. She was always available through multiple modes of communication and showed amazing creativity when we had difficult circumstances to navigate. For instance, we couldn’t do a large horizontal niche in our master shower as planned, and she quickly came up with the idea to do a large matte black metal vertical niche, which is one of my favorite things about the bathroom. We also used a downward facing light fixture above the shower that was painted the same color as the wall to blend it into the background. I would have never thought to do that, but love the calm and modern vibe it creates, especially at night. Everywhere we went, folks knew Nadja and either smiled when they saw her or heard us say her name. She was such a pleasure to work with. Anyone who has the opportunity to do so, will enjoy the process.

We worked with Nadja on a cabinetry for a kitchen and office rebuild after a fire destroyed our home. Obviously, in such circumstances, you are in a lot of shock and making all kinds of decisions at once, and it is easy to get overwhelmed. I think we would have been much more overwhelmed without the advice and guidance we got from Nadja. Nadja was truly awesome to work with. She listened to our vision, adjusted the plans as necessary when what we wanted wasn’t practical, and gave us great advice even if it went against what we were picturing. She was able to listen, but still wasn’t afraid to tell us when something wouldn’t work or there was something that worked better (for example, reducing the size of our planned island, moving a pullout higher or lower). If we weren’t sure, she showed us in person or marked with tape what she was suggesting. And on every single recommendation, she was right. As a result, we got two EXTREMELY functional, beautiful spaces that fit seamlessly into our home. Installation went with relatively few hitches, and any issues were resolved quickly and painlessly. Her installers were happy to work around our contractors to get things done quickly and correctly. In the midst of a pretty difficult experience, our work with Nadja was easy.
