Suburban Builders is a premier custom design-build firm, concentrating in the areas of Arlington, Falls Church, McLean and Great Falls. Founded in 1998 by John Karanik, Suburban Builders has built over 100 new homes in Northern Virginia, including over 60 homes in North Arlington and Falls Church. Our positive reputation and work history has enabled us to develop strong relationships with best-of-the-trade sub-contractors that have been vetted over the years and proven themselves for quality of construction and value. We had a wonderful experience with John and his team, especially as we were building our home from abroad and had to conduct many of our decision making online and through skype and phone calls. John and his team were extremely detail oriented, responsive, and walked us through the complex issues and options involved in building our dream home. They provided creative alternatives to shelving and design options that really helped us think through the big picture of the project.

We have seen homes in Virginia and all over the country advertised as "custom homes" that don't come close to the workmanship and quality that John puts into every home. Suburban Builders worked with my wife and I to design and build our custom home in Great Falls. They were terrific throughout the whole process. Easy to work with, willing to put up with all our questions and design changes and full of helpful suggestions to improve on our ideas and save money on the building costs. The building process itself was very professional; John kept us informed about progress, helped us with our choices on windows, cabinets, flooring, lighting etc, etc. and always was mindful of our budget. Our finished home is beautiful, exceeded our expectations and is something we are very proud to own.

We first met John by seeing one of his already completed projects. We instantly fell in love with the quality and beauty of his work and decided to hire him to build one for us. Commented: What is the wood stain on the floors?Hello! Thanks so much for your question. These floors are stained with Minwax “Dark Walnut” with 3 coats of matte finish oil based polyurethane. The wood is “Select” Red Oak.
