Jacquie and Judy are amazing! They are experienced, helpful and thoughtful. Especially this year, where we connected via Zoom, it would have been more difficult for them to understand what we wanted, but they got it! We are enjoying our new home and all of the loving touches.

We bought our dream house; it was BIG with a separate room and bathroom for all 3 kids plus enough room for plenty of guests and a separate level for business office. It’s about 6500 sq ft of living space. BUT the interior design was 20 years old. We interviewed several interior design teams but settled on Judy and Jacquie and we are thrilled that we did. We redid 1 kids bathroom and a very large master bathroom completely. The main family room had to be redone and they came up with a brilliant strategy for using the very large space and met our need for a mud room by creating a beautiful partition (with bench) using an ethnic design which we liked. This is an area which is heavily used by all and we still love it like the first time we first saw it.Their help with the soft touches like paint, fabric and wall paper choices helped refine and enhance our vision. The world of interior design can be a little intimidating because of range of options and wide range of prices, but J & J made us feel very comfortable and worked with our price restrictions. The project had to stop for a few months in the middle and they worked around our constraints with great ease. We would have no hesitation recommending them for anyone. We look forward to working with them again ourselves.

Jacquie and Judy have been instrumental in helping my husband and me build our house. They took standard building plans and filled in the gaps - furniture layouts, electrical/lighting plans and selections, architectural finishes, kitchen layout, plumbing and tile selections. They made a large project manageable. In addition, they have professionally and flexibly worked with our budget and ever changing schedule.

Jacquie and Judy were exceptionally helpful in our recent downsizing. They helped with the furniture layout in our new smaller space, and advised us on paint colors, area rugs, and window treatments. And, the frosting on the cake, they helped hang our pictures after we were settled. Everything was handled in a very timely manner.

Judy and Jacqueline are a pleasure to work with because they can so easily bridge the gap between their deep design expertise and the specific needs of each client. They brought a range of great ideas to our project and helped us bring it all together with the contractors.

We had a GREAT experience with Garrett Mitchell Interiors!! My husband and I purchased a new house in August 2015. It was larger than our old home and I really struggled decorating it. After many costly mistakes on my part, I decided to hire someone that could help my make my house look more like a home. After consulting with several Interior designers I found Garrett Mitchell and I immediately knew I was in good hands. They found creative and fun ways to work within my budget (which was somewhat tight). From refinishing some of our old furniture to look totally new and hip, to bringing in some great new one of a kind items. Jacquie and Judy have helped us make great strides in creating a welcoming home. After 10 years of accomplishing minimal home improvements on our own, we needed help. They were very patient and helped my husband and I at every stage of the process: they listened to our needs and dreams, helped us work through decision blocks (even providing a real estate analysis of our neighborhood to inform our budgeting) and delighted us with creative big picture ideas all the way down to beautiful finishing touches. One of the things that I loved about them is that they had skills that were both common and distinct from each other and I find that these types of qualities produce the best results. The common skills and ideas enforce what the trends are that would appeal to a buyer. The distinct skills and ideas allowed for a healthy discussion which led to some of the best results. Another detail that I loved was that they go out of their way to ensure the work and quality of the contractors to bring their vision to life. They would swing by to check on the work in progress and provide directions to the contractors to make their design intent a reality. We have worked with Jacquie Garrett for a good 15 years on projects that range from room refreshes to a major design project 11 years ago when we combined two condos in to one unit. Our most recent project this spring was for a refresh in our dining and living space, and we are about to embark on another project for the bedrooms. Jacquie and Judi and delights to work with. What we love most is their ability to work with their clients design taste(s) as opposed to forcing their own personal styles. They are also fabulous at working around "special" pieces that we have wanted to keep ... insuring they are included in the project. AND they have a wonderful voice at assisting with decision making when we are on the fence. We most recently (April/May '17) had a refresh in our living / dining space ... and we LOVE LOVE LOVE it! The Spring '17 project was the first we worked with Judi as well ... and she is every bit as professional and fabulous as Jacquie! Judi's attention to detail and follow through is second to none!!! The two of them together are a fabulous team. They also show great concern at insuring customer satisfaction with decisions / products. Both went over and above beyond what we would have expected when we had a concern on a couple of our choices and whether we were comfortable with the look. BOTH Jacquie and Judi came to our home to meet with us and review our concerns and other options. The time, and effort, they spent in doing so was such that we ended up very comfortable with our choice (which happens to have been the original choice ... we just needed some hand holding in getting used to some of the visual changes). They were seeking a local workroom to fabricate window treatments throughout the home. Both Jacquie and Judy were responsive and accessible throughout the entire project. My husband and I recently bought a new condo and hired Garrett Mitchell Interiors to help us plan the space. They not only helped us downsize but also choose some new pieces to make our new place feel both homey and fabulous. Judy and Jacquie have great taste, connections with very interesting local retailers, and exhibit a welcome sensitivity to their clients' tastes and possible anxiety about change. They also work very well together. For example, they designed a built-in for one of our walls from a photo I had torn out of a magazine. They even found a wonderful craftsman to build it for us. My long and very happy experience with Jacquie Garrett includes her design of three different office suites for my law firm and two renovation projects in my home. I have only good things to say about her. She has wonderful, unerring taste, a great ability to visualize how the finished product will look before work on it has even begun, and a total commitment to making sure that the finished product is functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. Moreover, she is a joy to work with because she is unfailingly good-humored and enthusiastic. And, last but not least, she is very reasonable in her charges; in fact, if there is a problem with her billing, it is that she sometimes cheats herself by not charging for all of the time she spends on a project. I can say I was completely satisfied by her work on my projects.

Jacquie Garrett has amazing instincts and it's fascinating to see how she cultivates the look I’m going for. Last night she sent me an image of a colorful burlap sack that just happens to contain the color palette we’re working with for our north side Chicago condominium. We are waiting until the painting is done and new furniture arrives, then Jacquie will artfully compose the look, pulling everything together. I'm really looking forward to it, because I know what a keen eye she has. Not long ago, Jacquie staged our loft for sale. She did it with such simplicity and flair, we didn't want to leave! It was all done without any unnecessary costs, and it looked so lovely that sell we did, by the first weekend! Jacquie mainly re-positioned our existing furniture to its best advantage and devised a new palette to refresh the paint. She integrated the overall space throughout. A simple turning of a table here, accent brighter colors there, and it was practically a new home. As a visual artist, I'm extremely sensitive to color, complimentary colors, tone, and value, but I possess none of the skills of an interior designer. That’s why I’m in my element when working with a gifted designer like Jacquie, who intuitively grasps the look I’m going for. She turned our loft into a more sophisticated, but comfortable home. I’m so looking forward to seeing what she does with our new home, once she puts on the final touches!

My kitchen re-design is my second project with Jacquie, which is the best indicator of the contributions and service that she provides. She first listens to her clients 'concept' and works these into her design while bringing fresh, cool ideas too. She is mindful of the project budget and provides alternatives if the wish list is too much $. I like that she is direct, but at the same time respectful of others. I love both my kitchen and my bathroom and this is also attributable to the GC that she found for me. We worked with Judy too to get her ideas and bring her expertise in on another project related to windows. They are a great team and if and when i have a project #3, i will be hiring them.

Jacquie and Judy helped us look at a couple of different projects. We had added a nice back yard deck to our house and we needed to "warm" it up some. They purchased pillows, drapes, furniture and furniture accessories along with installing some twinkling lights to make a fun ambience for the deck. It turned out great. Inside the house, we talked of new countertops, backsplashes, etc. in the kitchen but put that project on hold due to costs. They came up with a new plan to re-arrange our family room to make it feel like a more intimate space, use the space better and coordinate the look of the room. It looks great, we added some furniture, a new rug and it turned out really well.

I have worked with Garrett Mitchell for many years as a fabricator and refurbisher of furniture. There work is always presented to me in a very precise and professional manner. Jacquie Garrett helped me redesign our family living space with imagination and flair. She recommended colors and patterns that I would not have considered. She also brought me on an interior design shopping expedition which varied between out of the way upholsterers on Chicago's south side, to top end stores where we found gems, designs, patterns all of which blended to make our living area comfortable, unique and with maximum use of space. I would highly recommend working with Jacquie. It was affordable (we worked within a budget) and we are extremely satisfied with the result.

Jacquie worked with me on a complete gut and remodel of a condo on the near north side of Chicago. She worked as my General Contractor, as I live in Boston. Not only did she design the IKEA kitchen, but she ensured that the contractor installed it with great attention to detail. Jacquie worked closely with me to configure and furnish the place; she sent me fabric swatches and tile samples to review, and emailed me numerous pictures of furniture, lighting and rugs. She got me great deals whenever possible, and introduced me to shops and online merchants that I never would have known about. Jacquie is super easy to work with and is a timely and effective communicator. Her billing statements were prompt and detailed. She can do all phases of a project, and I will use her again and refer her to friends.

Jacquie has reimagined every house we've ever lived in - and we would not consider moving into another house without her excellent help. She is a skilled project manager, has exquisite taste, and is incredibly resourceful in stretching dollars to their limit. In the last project Jacquie did for us, we moved from a condominium to a much larger house in another state. Jacquie remotely managed the whole design of the new house and the contractors, including a total repainting of the house interior, cabinet removal, new carpeting, curtains, new furniture, and updated bathrooms. We had 10 days between when the house became vacant and we needed to move in, so an incredibly tight schedule to do all the work. She was at our house when the moving truck arrived, and she supervised the unpacking. Our home was ready on time, and on budget. Her intuitive understanding of our taste means that our house is designed and decorated exactly to what we like - only better. Jacquie worked with our existing furniture and decor, and then put in special touches and great design elements that make our home feel incredibly warm and inviting. Almost every day, we marvel that our house is so beautiful - and all due to Jacquie's design. In summary, I can't recommend Jacquie highly enough and would be delighted to answer any questions potential clients might have.

JG Design provided the design and installation of a number of items for a small (4 person) office including creation of an elegant reception area and completing furnishings of several attorneys' offices. Jacquie listened carefully to what we wanted and offered options within what we wanted, and pointed out some things we had not considered that made the design much better. She was creative in using the small space we had available to best advantage. The work was quick and painless, the cost within budget, with cost being reviewed specifically at each stage so there were no surprises. Excellent effort with small adjustments after major work was complete and real attention to detail throughout. It could not have been done better, and the cost was modest.
