We ordered our wine cellar for our new home to Vantage Cellars a few months ago. Last week we received our custom made cellar, and it was installed by a very professional team in a week. The quality, look, and design of our Wine Cellar is amazing and we could not be more happy. The high quality material and first class workmanship is very noticeable. I purchased a WhisperKool 3000 wine room chiller on-line from Vintage Cellars. I do a lot of online purchasing but not in the $2000.00 range. After I placed the order I received a call from Vintage to go over my order and ensure that the unit was right for the project. This reach out gave me confidence in my purchase. I then received an email from the owner thanking me and providing his contact info if needed. I received the unit on time in perfect condition. While installing the unit on the afternoon before Thanksgiving I had a question, called Vintage got thru immediately and resolved the question. Vintage may sell online but they provide support like they're on site. This was my first interaction with them but won't be my last.

I hired Jake Austad and Vintage Cellars to design and install a custom wine room in a former study at my house in Southern California. The room came out beautiful but what impressed me the most was the responsiveness to my needs and the handling of little minor issues that came up during the process. Recently, over two years after the project was completed I had an issue with the cooling unit and called Jake even though it was a manufacturer issue he he responded to my call right away offered to help with the replacement. In terms of "leanings" from the installation I would recommend the following: buy the more expensive heavy duty cooling unit, do not go with the case storage instead put in more individual bottle bins and finally get as many 2 bottle deep racks as possible.

As I was doing some renovations, I emailed Jake regarding some advice related to planning/building my wine cellar, as well as specific technical issues I was facing. I was very pleasantly surprised when he called me shortly after. Jake asked me a few questions and made some very specific and useful recommendations. I was very impressed with his knowledge, professionalism and how easy it was to discuss the issues with him over the phone (I have never met him). Now I can move forward confidently with the first steps, and the ability to hookup the appropriate cooling system and to expand the wine cellar into the adjacent room as needed. I had purchased cabinets from Vintage Cellars before, so when I planned a wine cellar in my home addition, they were my first call. I had concerns, being in West LA and their office being in San Diego. Jake had to make several visits to discuss electrical, lighting, ceiling height and how it had to be framed for vapor barrier and insulation. I understand Vintage does a lot of work in LA, so either he or Gene are up in LA a couple times a week. My addition was a social area/pool house. My hope was to get 2000+ bottles in the wine cellar. The design concept developed by them was amazing, over 2500 bottles. They used every available space, not wasting an inch. Even putting coved shelves on top of some of the racking for magnum bottles (the ceiling sloped so there was open space above some of the racks). The communication level was great, as all construction projects have delays and reschedules. I recommend them no matter where you live. Jake even brought me two bottles of wine after the completion of the project.

Jake did a great job in turning my study into a wine room. He worked with my builder to get the builder to do as much as possible during construction, and started work as soon as the home was complete. I wanted something more contemporary and that allowed me to find my wine by simple visual inspection. He designed a great wine room with Vintage View wine racks, black cabinets, and black granite. It turned out better that I could have hoped for. I would highly recommend Jake and Vintage Cellars.

Not only was Jake very professional, he knew a ton about designing cellars, and his wine knowledge is very impressive. I first met Jake with VIntage Cellars with only blueprints and a concept for my wine cellar. I had no idea what direction to go. He was able to take my thoughts and put them down into an actual wine cellar design. And before that, his main concern was room preparation & the mechanicals of a cooling system. During the process of the remodel, I would often see Jake on the project checking up on the progress of the cellar to plan when his staff needed to be there. It was also nice to see they have a great staff and not everything is subcontracted. My collection now has a home with room to grow. It's my favorite room in the house.
