About Us

Founded by Linda Banks, ASID, Banks Design Associates provides residential clients with the unique combination of architecture and interior design services nationwide. Simply Home is our retail store and design center, and home base for both companies. From the design of a whole house to a major renovation, or strictly the interior design of an existing home, Banks Design Associates believes that each family or individual client has a unique list of ideas and visions to contribute to the design of their project. As a result, no two projects look the same. Each solution is developed and tailored to the client's dreams. Creative design development, technical analysis and complete project follow-through make those dreams a reality. Banks Design Associates has been honored with numerous awards for design excellence—we are often quoted and frequently published in national design magazines. Linda Banks has been implementing her classic design style with great success since founding Banks Design Associates. BDA's architecture, decorating, and kitchen designs have been widely published, including features in Traditional Home, House Beautiful, Classic American Home, Renovation Style, and Maine Home+Design. Linda's famous, tried-and-true design ideas and home furnishings are available through Simply Home, our 8,000 square foot, recently renovated design center and retail store. We first met Linda after we purchased a second home in Maine. We had tracked her design style for years and loved it and wanted to work with her on our renovation project. It was of major benefit to us that she was both an architect and designer. She listened to our ideas and quickly formulated them to create the dream space we had always envisioned. She has an uncanny ability to know what we were trying to achieve even when we couldn't seem to express it properly. We benefitted greatly from her years of experience and knowledge of the industry and her team at Banks Design Associates is simply outstanding to work with! We could not be happier with the quality of her work and the outcome of our project!

I don't usually take the time to write a review, but I was so happy with my experience with Linda Banks and her team that I felt compelled to do so. My husband and I wanted to freshen up our house after 15 years without completely buying all new furniture. By taking down heavy drapes, painting, moving rugs around, purchasing new lamps, pillows and artwork, we have a completely new home!!! Not only that, they stayed on budget and completed the project within the timeline we had chosen!!! They are the nicest and most professional people I've ever worked with in the decorating world and I would recommend them for any decorating needs you might have. Thanks again Linda and Dave for my BEAUTIFUL new home!!!!!

When my parents bought their retirement home, which also doubled as a multigenerational family retreat, they asked for my opinion in interior designers as I worked in the home furnishings business. Linda Banks was hired to transform a dark, dated home into a bright and open, welcoming residence that would work for the lifestyle of my retired parents and the generations of family that would use the oceanside house for vacations. We fell in love with Linda's portfolio of beautiful homes that felt authentic to coastal Maine and also original in style. With a super sophisticated eye and brilliance in understanding space (we used her for the architecture of the kitchen as well as the interior design of the entire home) Linda is pretty much unparalleled in our opinion. Linda completely "got" our aesthetic but delivered something beyond our high expectations. We already had a large collection of family furniture and she expertly worked these antiques together with newer pieces to create a home that feels collected and authentically ours. This was a major construction project requiring a lot of professionals and Linda's energy and enthusiasm propelled the project forward. Now over two years later, there is not a single thing in our home that we would have done differently. We are eternally grateful to Linda Banks for her vision and ability to bring it to life so beautifully.

Linda Banks did an outstanding job helping us to fully renovate and furnish our historical home in downtown Portland, Maine. Linda first helped us create a vision for our in-town home and then she superbly executed the design with her exquisite taste and keen use of space. She traveled across the country seeking just the right pieces & fabrics to create a home for us that is indeed unique and special. We were also able to try pieces from the lovely Simply Home store that Linda owns in a neighboring town making it easy to visualize how certain pieces would look in our space. Thanks to Linda Banks we have a home that we will love for many years to come!

My husband and I remodeled a home in Florida. The project required both the expertise of an architect and an interior designer and Linda Banks and her team fit the bill on both counts. It was a pleasure to work with Linda and James and we were delighted with the finished product. They put their heart and soul into the design and execution of our project and the results were beautiful. Knowing that our family was arriving on Christmas Eve, they had even arranged for festive floral arrangements that made our new house feel instantly like home. I would highly recommend Banks Design Associates.
