Koreman Landscape Company Very interesting use of the space! Great job!

Banyon Tree Design Studio thank you. We deal with a lot of slopes in the Seattle region and color, texture, and interest play a big role in addition to utilizing slope stabilization methods.

Banyon Tree Design Studio This tree WAS a Acer palmatum of unknown variety. Unfortunately during construction of the house the trees roots were stressed and the tree contracted verticillum wilt, a typical problem with maples in our Western WA region. We replanted a Stewardia, which is resistant to verticillium and it is doing well. Acer's (maple trees) are widely available, many sizes, shapes and colors. Check out a reputable nursery in your area for a good selection.

Banyon Tree Design Studio I don't actually recall and cost of materials and labor depends completely on several elements: location, access, client, availability, local labor costs, etc etc. Best to work with a professional designer to develop the design and then have the project bid by a professional contractor for installation. Good Luck!

Banyon Tree Design Studio We almost always use sandset pavers to create permeable surfaces whenever possible. The Mexican Pebbles are for aesthetic purposes.

RSVP where did you find the grate for the steps
    7 days ago ·
Banyon Tree Design Studio The grates (fabricated into the custom stair) were sourced from an industrial metal company in Seattle.

Banyon Tree Design Studio It depends on the plant that is being installed in the pot, some like space for deep roots. It can also depend on if the large pot is in a windy area or if there is a potential to tip over, then heavier is better. Large pots can go on casters too to be moved, or you can use some kind of fill or large rocks to take up space in the bottom if you don't need the soil for plants.

zenasugar02 Thank you so much for you reply. So what I did, after reading your answer, is good. I used Lava rock in the bottom for weight, because here in New Jersey this year we have been getting some really crazy, windy storms, and I feared that my 2 containers, which are made from fiberglass and cast stone could possibly be blown over. I used two round containers, approximately 14/16 inches diameter, made my flower arrangement and inserted one in each pot. With the lava rock on the bottom and the plants on the top I feel confident now that they will not tip over and break.

Banyon Tree Design Studio I believe these were 1 x 2 clear cedar slats with a 1/2" gap, but it could've been a 3/4" gap. The posts are steel.

Banyon Tree Design Studio thank you! I haven't been by the fence in about 8 months, but the first three years of install, the boards seemed to be staying pretty plum--no visible warping thank goodness. The boards were stained with Penofin at installation so this may have protected it some initially.
