Soapstone is also mined in Schyler, VA. Alberene Soapstone Company started in 1888.
Most of the soapstone we use around here actually comes from Brazil so you would have to check into whether there's an importer near to where you live. I would contact your local stone fabricator and see if they can look into it for you. Best of luck!
