I had the pleasure of working with Susan on my kitchen renovation that turned into a first floor renovation . I had been dreaming about this kitchen for 25 years yet I still felt like a deer in headlights when it came to making decisions and getting it done . Susan took the time to really listen to me and figure out the style I was leaning towards and steered me away from some mistakes definitely would have made had I tried to design this on my own . I never felt rushed . She along with LPS and Kitchen Guro did a great job communicating and keeping the job moving . The quality of work is very good . I love how everything turned out. It’s like I’m living in somebody else’s house:). I felt like I was in great hands with Susan at SK Designs .

We reached out to Susan after seeing the lovely pictures of her clients' homes. She is approachable, helpful and accommodating right from the start, providing valuable inputs based on our inspiration pictures, letting us know what would or would not work based on our settings, as well as offering new ideas which we might not have thought of. Here are just a few examples: 1) Our kitchen was small and did not have an island. Susan referred us to work with her kitchen designer partner (Joey) while she continued to stay in the process from end-to-end. Joey helped design a new layout - removing the wall between the dining room and kitchen, adding new cabinets to the dining area, and adding a half island to our kitchen. We were apprehensive about knocking down the wall, as well as extending cabinetry to the dining area, but everything turned out really nicely. We changed our minds a few times as well, yet Joey and Susan continued to be patient with us. 2) The different areas in our house were painted in different colors. We loved our living room color so much that we almost decided to keep it. However, Susan reminded us that having the same color on the same floor would make the space look bigger. She did suggest that we could use an accent wall for the living room if preferred. After some thoughts, we decided to go with a single white color and it turned out great. We appreciate that Susan was adamant about the impact the wall paint could have, but did not sound pushy at all. 3) Susan was helpful in giving us suggestions on light fixture and referred us to companies that offered good pricing. 4) For all the items we ordered via Susan, she always kept us posted and worked to help expedite delivery where possible. We really appreciated her efforts. 5) We did a major makeover to our master bathroom. Susan went to pick out the tiles and all the hardware with us at Mosaic Tiles. We love every item picked. 6) Susan linked us to LPS (Joey), a contractor that she works with, and Joey, the kitchen designer. The team works really well together and are truly customer-focused. They listened to our needs and helped us the best way they could. Our full-house renovation project took 3 months to complete and my family is totally satisfied with the outcome. Susan, thank you for everything. We couldn't have done this without you!

We hired Susan at SK Interiors for our kitchen remodel. Several neighbors had used her with glowing reviews. Susan helped us to design a beautiful kitchen and powder room. As we designed the kitchen, Susan was extremely patient with us. We started with zero knowledge of what was involved in a kitchen remodel or even exactly what kind of look we were going for. She personally took us to look at countertops, flooring, tile, and the list goes on. She wisely advised on appliances and helped us select unique but classic lighting, countertops, and hardware that would fit into the feel of our house. She also was in constant contact with our contractors, taking a lot of stress off of us and ensuring the project went smoothly and that all work met her high standard. We needed to make our powder room accessible for our 5 year old daughter who uses a wheelchair. Initially it was hard to find a sink that would accommodate a wheelchair but Susan looked high and low to find one that would be functional and also beautiful. She knowingly swayed us against various options we found ourselves because she didn’t want the bathroom to look too commercial and she ended up being right. We ended up with a beautiful powder room that can also meet our unique needs. As part of the project, we replaced all the first floor flooring but needed something heavy duty to withstand a wheelchair, heavy equipment, and three kids. Susan took us to the flooring store and when we didn’t find what we wanted right off the bat was literally bringing us numerous samples every day until we could find one that we all agreed would look the best in our house. Susan also advised us on how to redo our staircase to match everything else. She made suggestions we hadn’t even considered and it came out beautifully. Susan is a great designer with impeccable taste but she is also beyond sweet and thoughtful and really just a pleasure to work with. We would absolutely work with her again for our other renovation projects.

We loved working with Susan! When we decided to upgrade our kitchen, we had some rough idea of what we wanted but needed a lot of help. We talked to about 5 designers before finding Susan. The entire process was smooth because Susan took care of us. Susan works with a team of professionals who she trusts and we could not be happier with the experience. We were extremely fortunate to work with Susan on our extensive renovation and interior design project. We purchased a 25-year-old home that needed a complete internal renovation and overhaul, from the walls and flooring to the kitchen and bathrooms. In addition to the extensive upgrades, Susan helped us select furniture and accessories for our home. We contacted Susan while still based overseas so we started the project virtually before we met in person. Even with the time difference, Susan was able to communicate with us via video chat to ensure that we were updated and could choose items efficiently. She helped us with all stages of the initial planning, designing, and execution of our project including the design of the kitchen, choosing the paint colors, flooring as well as coordinating with the contractor, liaising with all the suppliers, and ordering the furniture and accessories. Susan was always available. She understood our style and was cognizant of our aesthetic. It was a HUGE project and obviously stressful having to decide many details entirely virtually but Susan was wonderful to work with - flexible, and always ready with solutions and alternatives when we ran into any issues. We are absolutely thrilled with the end result! Throughout the entire project, Susan provided excellent advice and follow-up. We worked with Susan of SK Interiors on a large remodeling project to create our dream kitchen. This project involved significantly expanding our kitchen and tearing out our dining room, plus remodeling a small bathroom. Susan guided us along the way from start to finish and was the main interface with our contractor. She has excellent taste and helped us select everything. How does one properly extol the best design and contracting experience he's ever had? I don't know, but Susan Kuehhas and her team certainly delivered it when I decided to remodel my kitchen and first floor. I am the envy of my neighborhood thanks to the remarkable job they did on my Reston townhouse by the water. First, it's great to have one throat to choke on a complete demolition and remodeling of an entire floor of the house. Susan's designs won my confidence at the outset, but Dan Jasinski and his crew at XPR (shout-out to Gustavo and Sidney!) made me feel that there was nothing I ever needed to worry about. This was a huge job done with no drama whatsoever and the small glitches that inevitably came up were handled immediately and with expert professionalism. Their coordination and efficiency has to be seen to be believed. I was given an estimate of seven weeks to complete the job and they literally left on the last day of the seventh week, never once missing a day of work for lack of materials, cabinets, flooring, or any other reason. I have recommended them to all of my neighbors looking to upgrade their homes and they will definitely be back to work on any and all future renovations at my house now that I have found them. Five cheers for SK Interiors and all my thanks to Susan and her team!

Susan helped me with a large project remodeling and updating our recently purchased town home, which had been built in 2008. Our selection of her as an interior designer was partially based on the rave reviews that she has received by very good subcontractors who are motivated to continue making her happy - very important! As I sit at my desk in my new comfortably and beautifully furnished home office, I truly feel appreciative of her talent. We went from a cramped kitchen with no counter or cabinet space to one that is opened up and seemingly much bigger, with basically the same square footage as before. Susan was very attentive to our wishes and understood our taste. The best part was that despite my constraint of having the demolition start in the beginning of October with a hard deadline of Thanksgiving week to complete the work so I could cook for a crowd, she got it all done beautifully and cheerfully. To me, a home remodel is a treat, and in that sense, it should feel like an indulgence. With her calm demeanor combined with her power to get things done, Susan allowed that to happen for us.

I had the most positive experience with SK Interiors who I hired for a complete kitchen remodel. Susan has been exactly what I was looking for when redesigning our 7,000 sq ft home. I knew right at initial consultation that she would bring my visions to reality. Susan had so many resources available as well. Her ability to create and be flexible during the process was great as I changed my mind a lot! Susan selected all paint colors, all new lighting from several different vendors and all new furnishings. The end result is more beautiful than I could have imagined. She continues to send me new ideas when she comes across something that might compliment my space. I just love the personalized service. Not to mention she is a lot of fun during the process!

We hired Susan for the interior design of our new home in McLean, VA. This was a daunting task given we tripled the size of our previous house, did not want to use existing decor or furniture, and my husband and I generally are un-available due to work / travel. We could not be more pleased with our new kitchen and the experience we had with SK Interiors. This was our first remodeling project and after spending way too much time on the internet, remodeling magazines, and stores we decided we needed advice from a real person. SK Interiors was recommended to us. The owner, Susan Kuehhas, listened and cared about what we wanted to accomplish from Day One. The plan we came up was sensitive to our budget and she introduced us up front to key people she usually collaborates with, including Daniel of XPR. The design/construction chemistry was obvious and resulted in a very smooth project. We were especially impressed with Susan's experience with local options for cabinets, countertops, tiling, appliances, and other items. Because she knew the best places to go and the key people to work with we were able to efficiently make our choices and decisions. She assisted in all aspects of design and product selection and cheerfully accompanied us to showrooms and also pointed out possible products available on-line. Susan checked-in often during construction and supervised countertop installation as well as inspecting all other installations for quality, completeness, and design integrity. She kept in close communication with construction supervisor and crew from XPR who did an excellent job in transforming design into reality. Perhaps Susan's best attribute is that at no time did we feel that she was making decisions for us. We always felt we were in control of the project and could steer it any way we wanted. Because of her professionalism and experience and the fact her advice was grounded in a knowledge of what works best, her guidance resulted in a successful kitchen remodel project that we are very happy with.

Once the crew came to our house, they did not leave until the job was finished. It’s great having a dedicated crew that is fully engaged in the project. We recommend Susan without reservation. She was very attentive while leading us through choosing tile, granite, light fixtures, hardware, and beautiful DuraSupreme cabinets. Susan was able to come up with a design that fit our style and budget. She has an eye for color and made sure everything matched perfectly. We also had her pick out paint colors for our family room and foyer. The crew from Xtreme Painting and Remodeling were very professional. I worked with Susan at SK Interiors on a complete remodel of my Oak Hill kitchen. I actually found her through Houzz reviews, but based on feedback she was one of 3 - 4 other teams I interviewed. In the end, Susan and her contractor team (Daniel at Xtreme Painting) won out. Susan was enthusiastic, spent hours with me on materials selection and emailed suggestions and tips as I continuously evolved the design that worked for us. As some others have noted, Susan became more of a friend than our designer - she understood our budget but also recommended things she knew my husband and I might really like, but maybe did not consider at first. Susan pushed us (in a nice way!) to consider a large wood top for our center island and teamed us up with a wonderful artisan from Georgia. The wood island makes the whole room and we would never have considered this finish without Susan's advice and assurance. I cannot say enough good things about Susan and Daniel at Xtreme Painting. This was a very significant project for us - including not only the kitchen but a redo of a sizeable walk-in pantry, butler's pantry, installing wood floors in both the kitchen and family rooms, repainting a good portion of our downstairs and also updating our laundry room. We actually missed the team when they were finished!

We couldn't be happier with the wonderful experience we had with Susan at Ski interiors. She is awesome...she listened to our style ideas, she was down to earth was very real about our budget and great ways to make our dream for kitchen remodel come true without breaking the bank. She is so personable and friendly, patient and kind and absolutely full of great ideas. She helped us pick out granite, wall colors, backsplash and hardware for our kitchen. We worked with Susan for the remodel of our Master bathroom. A neighbor had recommended Susan to us after I admired their beautiful kitchen and master bath remodel. I am so glad that she did! Susan also introduced us to our contractor, Daniel of XPR Remodeling. He did a fantastic job, too. Susan came up with some unique ideas that we ended up using in the design. At times, it was not easy to find what I wanted, but Susan was determined to find the perfect materials for our bathroom. She is patient, helpful and understands her client's needs. Susan is resourceful and willing to go the extra mile to make you happy. My husband and I were extremely pleased with the final result. We absolutely love our new bathroom! It turned out even better than we had anticipated. We plan to have Susan and Daniel work on our next home remodeling project. They were the dream team for us!

We worked with Susan on the remodel of our 70s-style kitchen. From the moment we spoke to her on the phone, we loved her. She was friendly, as though we'd been friends for years. She was helpful, giving us free advice about asbestos tile. And she was engaged and accessible; we believe we spoke to her, at length, at least twice on the first day we contacted her. It was a good thing we all got along, because over the next several weeks, we were going to spend a lot of time together: emailing about design elements; going to various suppliers to pick out hardwood, appliances, cabinets, granite; discussing the budget; reviewing the job progress, etc. Susan's friendly, casual, jovial attitude made the time-consuming process incredibly FUN. We laughed a lot! (We spent a lot of time together because we wanted to be intensely engaged in the process. We have no doubt, though, that Susan could shine just as brightly in her work with little direction or oversight.) It happened to be an insanely busy time in our lives, and Susan, thank goodness, kept us on track -- she was very good about reminding us about deadlines (for instance, we had to get X done by Y date in order for construction to stay on schedule). While we spent a lot of money on the project, Susan's fee was minimal, and through Susan's connections, we saved several thousand dollars, overall. She had discounts everywhere, it seemed, and opened our eyes to many design companies that we didn't know existed -- which was wonderful, because it gave us more options to choose from (we valued putting somewhat unique pieces into our kitchen). The suppliers she introduced us to were top-notch. She also spent a ton of her own time researching lights, knobs, sinks and more for us...our favorite "find" of hers was a wood countertop producer in Georgia -- it's our favorite piece. Susan was able to persuade the supplier to give us a discounted rate on the countertop, and I believe Susan has developed a lasting relationship with the supplier, which will hopefully benefit his business, as well. Susan is really good at what she does -- picking out the "pretty things," as she says -- and had a really good sense for what we liked, without us having to explain it, ad nauseam. She just seemed to understand! We trusted Susan very much -- so much, that we gave her a copy of our credit card for purchases. Susan was generous, and went out of her way to allow us to purchase furniture for another room in our house -- which was out of scope for the project we'd hired her for -- using her discount. It was a truly sweet, selfless act that we appreciated so much. Looking back, we had a little confusion over who was our main "point-person" for the project -- turns out, Susan was our point-person for the design, and our contractor (who Susan put us in contact with) was our point-person for the construction. We would have liked Susan to be our "one-stop-shop" point of contact for the entire project. In retrospect, though, it made sense for us to be able to communicate directly with the contractor doing the construction. We would definitely recommend Susan, and look forward to working with her, again, in the future. We daydream about being able to "turn her loose" on the rest of the house! :)

I found Susan by word of mouth through a friend and, boy, am I glad I did! She initially came over to help me pick out colors after a nightmare kitchen and bathroom remodel job. She immediately understood what I was looking for and within an hour we had all of the colors picked out for our home. Two days later, one of her contractors, Peter Jones, performed the estimate for all of the interior painting. It was a little more than we had expected, but after our remodel experience we wanted someone we could trust and communicate with. Susan and Peter were exactly what we needed. Susan went the extra mile -- even coming over late one evening to finish up selecting the colors for the basement, including tile for the bar backsplash. Peter and his crew were fantastic! They showed up on time each day, were neat and tidy while they work, picked up each day, and completed the job on-time. Peter communicated with us after we returned home from work each day, showing us what had been done that day and telling us what was planned for the next day. It was wonderful! We are so pleased that we are considering having Susan and Peter complete another project for us sometime in the near future.

We renovated our master bathroom by extending the shower, removing the soaking tub, enlarging the closet, and retiling the entire master suite. Susan and her contractor, Daniel, offered recommendations and suggestions which made our job so much easier. Daniel's crew was prompt, neat, and courteous each day they were there and completed the job on time with beautiful results. Susan was wonderful at assisting me in choosing the correct wall color, light fixtures and towel racks for the bathroom. We were so satisfied and happy with the master bath renovation and have now requested Susan and her team to return and assist with some kitchen remodeling.

I could not be more pleased with the stunning kitchen remodel Susan did for us. She was professional, personable, accessible, and creative and worked within our budget. She suggested designs that suited our tastes while ensuring our minor kitchen remodel made the whole house seem updated -- we even had friends tell us the whole house looked different! Susan worked with us every step of the way so our backsplash design and countertops integrated with design elements in the rest of the open floor-plan house. (e.g., paint color in the family room and entryway, cherry hardwoods, oil rubbed bronze hardware). She paid attention to every detail, down to grout color and switch plates. Her knowledge of stone suppliers and contractors in the area also helped us to obtain quality materials that will last. I would highly recommend her for any of your design needs!

I hired SK Interiors (Susan) a couple of years ago for consultation, then to design and manage a full bath (shower) and more recently to design and oversee the complete build out of the master bath and complimentary paint and molding in the master bedroom as well as the first level powder room. Each project was progressively more complex and at each stage I was more than satisfied with the results to move to the next level. SK Interiors was skillful at extracting from our informal conversations the ideas I liked and seamlessly completed a design to my specs from architectural changes to knob selection. Susan was recommended to me by a friend who used her for her kitchen renovation...and I'm so happy we hired her! We used her for a major kitchen, living room and powder room renovation. I had never worked with a designer before, and didn't know what to expect...Susan exceeded my expectations in every way. From the start, she was reliable, not pushy, open to my ideas, and very approachable. Susan was also respectful of our budget. She led us to the best people to find our tile and granite...she told us where to go, and all we needed to do was show up and choose what we wanted with her. Susan was wonderful to work with. She helped with the re-design of my 1st floor and master bedroom and bath. It was an overwhelming process for me. I have wanted to to do it for years but didn't know where to start! She listened to what I wanted and help me figure out what was most practical and useful for our family and for future re-sale. Once we had the vision, she was able to take me to the places to figure out the right tile, cabinets, lighting, paint, etc. Instead of going into a store and being overwhelmed, she guided me the various options. I never felt like she was being pushy, it was definitely a team effort. She made it fun! Daniel and his team, her installer, is amazing! Great to work with, very respectful of your property and privacy. He and Susan work well together. This was a huge project and despite the various bumps in the road (there will always be bumps in project this big!) it turned out beautifully and we love it! Daniel and Susan made it such a great experience.

I'd been wanting/needing to remodel my bathrooms and found the perfect person to help me at SK Interiors. As a graphic designer myself, I found Susan worked with my ideas and inspiration photos as a starting point, then expanded on them with her expert eye. We worked on both the guest and master bathrooms, completely gutting and remodeling both. The workmen were always on time, courteous and respectful, and did a near perfect job on every aspect. I have to say it was a blast doing the 2 bathrooms with Susan. I just wish I had another project to start on!

Susan from SK Interiors coordinated my kitchen renovation in the fall of 2012. I am extremely pleased with Susan's work! SK Interiors assisted in our kitchen remodel in fall of 2012. We completely changed the cabinets, counters, appliance and flow of our kitchen and family room. SK provided wonderful recommendations and guidance through out the process. While we had some idea of what we wanted, she provided structure and design touch to turn it into a beautiful result. I described her as my "wedding planner" assisting in all the decisions to ensure the integrity of the design and final product was one that would be completed on time and of the highest quality. SK worked with all the subcontractors to ensure work was done to specification, and was timely. Even coming over on weekends when we could not be there to supervise work. By getting all the prep work and decisions made ahead of time we were without a kitchen for only two weeks. Overall a great job. We could not be happier with the result.
