Can your dogs stay off the sofa? I know there's this leather-like material that is virtually stain proof (you can clean it on the spot with a damp cloth or even add dishwasher liquid for harder stains) but if your dogs jump on it or bite it, the material will wear out fast. Real leather won't be that easy to keep clean so I think your only option is the imitation.

I have white leather in my living room and school bus yellow in my media room. I have had leather furniture for 50 yrs in different houses different colors with dogs, cats kids. A lot has to do with the type of leather you choose, go for the tough cow hide type instead of the buttery soft, go withthe real thing and I have had red wine, salsa, lots of stuff on my white sofas and it wipesoff, don't leave it sitting there thats all you have to do. There are great leather cleaners/ conditioners on the market. I would never go with vinyl or that junk from china that is called bonded leather. What I love about real leather is it ages gracefully and looks great for years. One of our leather sets is in our son's house now and is 23 yrs. old and looks great. The other thing is make sure it is dyed through and what ever pieces you buy are leather every where not just where you sit. We have 2 big dogs who from time to time sleep on the sofa so I put a blanket ther to help keep it clean but other than that it is better than fabric that holds all the smells and stains.
