When I redid mine, I made it a point to accommodate two monitors attached to my laptop, giving me three displays.

I also added a recliner to enable quick breaks or naps.

Agree TV for morning news and when you want the mindless chatter in the backgroud. I'd like to add a chaise lounge. Sometimes a power nap helps the brain produce more!

Being an architect, I need a small desk for computer, keyboard, etc and a comfortable chair. Plus I need a large table for drawing layout and coordination, shelving for material samples and a closet for crap I don't use all the time like old files and drawing rolls. A nice club chair would've nice for taking breaks.

I agree with the comfy chair, great electronics, music, double monitors, the cat, printer, desk with plenty of storage. I would add good task lighting, pick a place with a view. In my office I had the above plus a dog, a candle and momentos from my travels with my family to help inspire me to create. In any room how if functions is as important as how it makes you feel.

TV, large desk, bookcases, computer, printer, fax. I also like a comfort chair (think Ekornes) as well as desk chair. We also design/build Home offices. Here is one we did that doubles as a home library with bookcases, seating & spiral staircase to 2nd floor.

Built In storage with doors to conceal the clutter. Also must have USB outlets inside of drawers to create 'charging stations"

    Plenty of electrical outlets!

Electric pencil sharpener; separators in desk middle drawer for pens, etc. Same for some desk drawers. I use old paper check boxes and other free boxes to separate and organize.) Love high back, leather chair with arms, that swivels. WINDOWS! Prefer being on second floor for view and feeling of being away from laundry and kitchen. Plastic tab and tape tags to identify various tech. connectors. Pictures I like on the walls.

What is more interesting, is what I need less of now: Book shelves, hard copy file cabinets, radio, tv for news and clocks for time. I can find on my automated systems the time; dictionary and thesaurus; grammatical answers; Wikipedia for all kinds of info.; owner manuals; past and current bill and investment and banking records; e-books, e-news and e-music; purchasing and ordering info. from catalogs or web sites; schedules for TV or other entertainment sources. I rarely U.S. Mail (except delivery of some e-purchases) for anything and use few stamps or mailing envelopes.

Depending if you are "old school" and collect or need books, having shelf space is not only for books but can be used for much more creative things such as family photos, a TV, or objects you might collect.
