Ikea has nice and inexpensive counter height stools that have enough weight to be stable and also look good--- if you live near an Ikea. Too heavy for mail order. The shipping would be ridiculous. But, if you can get to an Ikea, it's a good answer for stools..

Flair lighting, The table is an oval table (has 5 leaf extensions) refinished to a cherry it was my grandparents. I am thinking a rectangle table at some point, but still large extension. This is the only dining table and the lighting in that area is not great. I have 3 high hats to the right of the table. I was thinking downlighting might be better? I know reading has become easier at the table since we got that single bulb put in.

I was thinking the same thing went heavy on the island so more of a glass look over the table. But not sure if I need one two or three lights. I see some great choices on shadesoflight and attached a few photos from another site that I like but not sure they go. I have gray walls and one glass fixture says it has a green tint to the glass.

I also think my ceiling is low over my table but it could just be an illusion because it is a raised pitch over the island with skylights. And I'm not sure what I was going for, I usually like industrial but I guess it came out farmhouse which might be why I am having such a hard time picking lighting. The island light took forever and wound up being an impulse buy because I couldn't stand doing dishes in the dark anymore and I had an electrician at the house fixing something so I took the opportunity to have something installed ran to the store and that's what I came home with. It has a single oversized pendant that goes with it but I'm not in love with it. Originally we were going to go for a dark cabinet and lighter floors but we have a wall of cabinets floor to ceiling and the dark would have made the space feel smaller. My counter is a leather finished black granite I love it, it's very different from what I have seen.

Here are some styles that might go well with the island lighting. We would definitely suggest a dark finish, and a fixture with clear glass and/or an exposed bulb. What do you think of these options? All are available at http://www.progresslighting.com.
