How wrong is the color, maybe try and work with the color you have now sometimes what seems like a catastrophe turns out to be a great design surprise.

Unfortunately, the color makes me angry. It's like the designer heard exactly what I didn't want and ordered that. I cannot live with the color; it is a yellow when I wanted a crisp white.

Then you must have them removed and replaced..........You should not live with something that makes you angry........
Work with the manufacturer and you designer to compromise...........It may cost you a bit more but it will be worth it.....

Here's the deal: I am just trying to figure out how to fix this; I know what I am legally entitled to. I have a quote on replacing all the doors and panels from the manufacturer, and at the end of the day, I know I can force the deisgner to pay this cost, but if there is a less expensive way to fix the problem that I can live with, I'd prefer that. Accordingly, I would like to get a quote on having the cabinets painted. Does anyone know of a good vendor for this in NYC metro area?

Not what you asked for, but my two cents anyway: While there may be a less expensive way to fix the immediate problem, it may not be cheaper in the long run. Once the cabinets are painted by an outside party, the warranty on the cabinets could be voided. You might want to check your warranty; I did not find it online.

I agree and why do you care about the cost ?

I know the designer tried hard but is simply incompetent; I care about the cost b/c I sensed designer was incompetent and let her proceed anyway. I feel like I gave the designer the rope to hang herself, so I feel some responsibility. I know, I am a sucker.

Perhaps your designer should learn the hard way...take her to task and make her make it "right"....if she whines "broke" perhaps you can agree to less, but by NO means ever give her a recommendation!

I would not paint them. Get what you asked for.

Jim Bishop cabinets are crap! I know I have them. Ours also came in the wrong color. The finish is a disgrace - it feels like sandpaper. Doors are misaligned and cabinets do not close. Shelves are broken... Steer clear of Jim Bishop - they are basically builder grade crap. Fancy website with nice photos but you would be better off with out of the box cabinets from Home Depot.
Jim Bishops customer service is also a joke. Their attitude is they just dont care - according to them "everything is to tolerance" Well jim bishop tolerance is cabinets that are FALLING APART.
