Van Gogh granite?

Anyone ever see it in person or have it? Cost? Pix?

Is it also called blue Louise?

Lots of variations...

I think my second picture is actually quartzite....Azul macauba?

It's pretty spectacular - no I have never seen it. Where are you considering putting it? I see the Van Gogh in a bathroom or commercial space and not so much in a residential kitchen.

I thought maybe In kitchen island....outside counters would then be white quartz. Too much?? Maybe a lesser colored slab?

What colour is the cabinetry? How big is the island? Can you pull off such an unusual palette in the space? What style are you going for? These are all the questions I would ask myself before committing to this granite.

We know it as Louise Blue and it is absolutely spectacular in person. It is the most expensive granite that is available here in our area. I think it would be beautiful in a small quantity but would not use it in large amounts. Have seen it used to top a table or in a powder room. If you use it, post pictures. Most folks we deal with cannot begin to afford it.

Be sure that your budget can stand it as well as the room. I've seen premium slabs with a lot of movement command $400 a square before fabrication. It's a truly luxury material. It's also rather prone to etching, so be careful if you do choose it.

That is a fabulous color of granite! I can see it used in a small application such as an island or bar or vanity top.

Wow! thanks for sharing this. I think it would be a beautiful feature in a powder room but would be cautious using it on a larger scale (even if it were less expensive).

My husband texted me a pic of the dinner he cooked while out of town. The dinner looks lovely, but all I could think about was how spectacular the Van Gogh counter looks. It was the most expensive part of the kitchen remodel and it drove the design.

    Hi HD -

    Here are a few shots.

A few more pics. Basically, we did one continuous counter. The cabinets look more green than they are. It varies during the day from more blue tones to blue-green.

Hi Beth - In the fall, winter and spring, I do all hydroponic herbs in those mason jars. Unfortunately in the summer, I seem to lose interest in my indoor plants while growing everything outdoors, so I just emptied the jars to start over next month.

Sue, I'm a granite lover and your is beyond gorgeous. I first saw Van Gogh granite in a shop in Fredericksburg, Tx. http://www.granite-iron.com They had a console table made with it. I fell in love with it.

Your counters are spectacular. They truly look like art. Your tile mural is perfect with the counter. The kitchen is a showstopper.

really? love to see how you do the mason jar herbs. and I hear ya,,,,if I showed you the shelf in my shower with my plants you'd die. it is a lot of work.

Hi Beth - I bought the kits from ModSprout. The herbs were wonderful until I stopped adding water :)

Sue, orchids would do well in your window, especially if you get morning sun. Like Beth, I have a lot of plants. This is my bathroom with orchids. Orchids are really pretty easy to grow. I water these once a week.
