I would carry the living room paint into the kitchen.

Take a look at Benjamin Moore Paints color known as Stone Castle. It's very versatile and will blend with your counters, cabinets and green walks nicely.

Don't do stencils, they can look very dated. Paint it white and add 3 picture frames next to the door, on the top of each other with a dark wood frame to match the cabinets.

that is a very nice stencil, you could stencil one wall so it is not over done/to much. Grey is the in color now, but I think sometimes it is over used. If you are wanting to keep the olive green, I would take a sample of that color with me to the paint store, to maybe get some other ideas for colors.

It doesn't look like there are windows in the kitchen. I think you're right about the green, just go to a lighter hue on the color strip. The stencil would be pretty.

I love the stencil... Seems like everyone is using Gray on here.....why not stick with the green but maybe a different shade of green maybe something lighter and softer with maybe linen to go with the lighter shade of green for the kitchen.

Oh I forgot to say..I had butter yellow walls in my kitchen years ago and loved it. Kept it bright but soft if that makes scenes. I live in Fl so it just seemed to work. I like yellow but that yellow is Bright lol

Purple is a color u don't see enough of. Seems everyone is using gray...in the living room I see linen wall colors and touches of purple. That sounds pretty.

I would pick a color that goes with the cabinets.

It looks like that the floor and cabinets are red based (cool colors). If you are trying to combine with an olive (which is a warm color), then you might want to go neutral. Tans, light browns are a good option to blend together. You could also create an accent wall that might offer another color. Good luck!

Gray is definitely an "in" color right now, however I like green as well. Benjamin Moore's "Quiet Moments" is a beautiful gray green that would be nice contrast against your dark cabinets and gray floor. ( http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/quietmoments) If you want to do stencils, I think it would be too much in the kitchen area. My suggestion is to make a feature wall with the stencil pattern, in black, on the window wall in your living room. That way it blends perfectly with the gray green and can be seen from the kitchen.

Thank you, I am trying to stay away from the typical gray, you know? I was looking at a purple gray but that green gray is stunning! and yes, i was also doing some sketching and thought that it would be nice to stencil that wall since i am planning to put a breakfast nook in the area

perhaps sample a color that is a 1-2 shades lighter than the LR color from the same color strip? right now the wallpaper stencils are hot, hot, hot! but I'd avoid it in the kitchen as it can become too overwhelming, but maybe do your focal wall in the LR in a tone on tone design with a stencil or tape off some wide stripes. check out the stencils on etsy!

You could do something like that, it is gorgeous, and there's plenty of space beneath your cabinets. Just pick coordinating colors when you repaint the living room and kitchen. Also, it might be nice to add under cabinet lighting to emphasize whatever stencil design you choose. Furthermore, there are no windows in your kitchen so it would add more lighting for prep etc.

Davida's, it looks like the kitchen will be an olive green color for a while now. Are there any coordinating colors that i can paint the kitchen other than any shade of green?

I was going to recommend bm Manchester Tan. It's a good neutral that's light in natural light but adds warmth in artificial light. I think light but not white in this small space would look great.

Since your kitchen is a smaller space with a lack of natural light, I would highly recommend painting it a lighter color. A soft, warm, neutral would be best. If there's any way to eliminate the olive green I would because it's quite dark. Benjamin Moore Cedar Key is a great color ( http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/oc-16). It would lighten the space and make it larger. As far as stencils for the backsplash the Fuji All Over Stencil could work ( http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/stencil-wall-stencils-fuji.html). In this picture its shown with a neutral color.

We have dark cabinets as well. We get a lot of compliments on our soft neutral paint colour. Pashmina by Benjamin Moore. Its nice and warm and then in the evening it takes on a more grey colour.

I like the idea above of painting walls a white to brighten room.. Blue and white accessories and rug would look cool with that green! Or navy and white!
