Look at photos of old brick walls that you love and are trying to duplicate. What color grout in them appeals to you most? Our exterior brick from 1929 has sandstone-colored grout against bricks that look much like the ones in your photo (just a bit grayer). The grout color looks similar to the first or second one on your grout sample chip. But I've seen beautiful old brick walls with many different grout shades, so much of it will come down to personal preference for a particular effect.

i was wondering how you like brickweb? We are doing a brick accent wall in our new home and came across brickweb. how does it compare to real brick? we are planning on using real brick and having them cut them in half. thought this may be cheaper.;)

@star74 - I love Brickweb. I think it was worth the cost overall, and the product came out fantastic. People think that I have a real brick wall in my home. This is definitely less labor intensive (as it works just like tile) and is faster to use. I'm not sure how thick your brick is, but the brick web is pretty thin (which is nice because it pastes on the wall easily). Also, the web helps keep it evenly spaced without having to think too much about it.

Star, we used Brickweb as mentioned above. I'm extremely happy with the results! As far as I understand, it IS real brick.

ascornelli, feeny or anyone who has applied the Brickweb or Old Mill bricks ... what color grout did you use? I am having a tough time finding a grout color that dries the intended color. We want the finished look to match Antique White by TEC; unfortunately, the TEC Antique White dries at least three shades or more lighter. None of the Home Depot grouts work either. So, I was thinking about just going with the Type S cement, but I've read bad reviews about Quikrete changing its product which now causes the dried cement to crack and separate from the bricks. My brick color is slightly darker to the above picture (café mocha). I want the finished product to look like a natural brick wall. Please help. We've already spent a lot of money, not to mention time, in trying to grout this project. BTW, Old Mill bricks are fabulous. I would buy them again in a heartbeat!

Robin, we used a different brick color (Rushmore), so I won't be much help :/ We went with HD grout in Delorean Gray or Pewter if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the feedback, ascorsonelli. I purchased four different grouts last night. I will mix and blow them dry before applying. Fortunately, Menards said I can return them it they don't work. I was originally going to go with Rushmore (beautiful), but it's for my son's loft and the Café Mocha was more to his liking and matched his granite better. The Café Mocha turned out amazing, so I don't want the grout to ruin the look.

Do you have extra brick you can use as samples?

Yes. I've been making sample boards using the brick pieces leftover from the original cuts. I think this time, I'm just going to mix and dry before going through the trouble. If I find a color that could work, I'll test it on the sample board. Who thought that picking a grout color would be the hardest part of this project? I've tiled many times, and never had a problem with grout; however, as you know, because the spacing is so much wider with the brickweb, grout selection is more limited.

ascorsonelli, what grout tool did you use? I've read the handle on a chip brush works well.

Whatever our tile guy used ;) We're not the DIY type, sadly.

The Mapei Frost grout looks really good with Boston Mill. That's what I'm using now. I put a little on there just to see how it would look

Did you ever get a picture of the brick with Pewter or DeLorean Gray (or use one similar for your project)? Was thinking of DeLorean Gray with Rushmore for a brick wall behind a bar and would love to see an example...
