The camera lens that allowed the photographer to get the whole space in one picture distorted the walls to look bowed.

Looks like an expensive change that ruined a lot of beautiful, warm welcome. There many other ways to brighten the space without painting the wood white. Thumbs down here.

Photos are a really good way of seeing details and by painting everything a light color, the dark hole behind the light fixture is now really obvious and the short base molding is totally out of scale with the height of the walls. And, yes, the light should be lower. Notice that the after photo was either taken at a different time of day when the sun was coming through the entry or a light has been placed there. The really important thing is not whether or not I like it, but do the people who live there like it?

It is much better, but I personally would prefer an even lighter color on the walls and trim. I have seen some white rooms with very dark ceilings, and the contrasting colors did make the walls look whiter and brighter.

Love the new paint color and the fish eye lens on the camera ;) I agree with Lux Water Walls it would be an extremely relaxing and welcoming entry with a fabulous water feature. If nothing else I'd grab a larger chandelier for the space. Your ceilings are so high it dwarfs what would normally look like a large fixture.
